Leno: Condi 'Perfect Choice Because of the Fact She’s a Woman and She’s Black'

NBC Tonight Show host Jay Leno took what some might call a cheap shot at presumptive Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney and Condoleezza Rice Friday.

After he mentioned the rumor about the former Secretary of State being considered for vice presidential nominee, a mock ad for "Rice and Romney: The New American Treat" was aired which included the lyric, "She’s the perfect choice because of the fact she’s a woman and she’s black" (video follows with transcript and commentary):

(To the old Rice-a-Roni jingle)

Rice and Romney, the new American treat
Rice and Romney, the combo can’t be beat.
She’s the perfect choice because of the fact
She’s a woman and she’s black.
Rice and Romney, the new American treat.

If Rice and Romney were Democrats, wouldn't the PC police be all over this, or is this election cycle starting to cause me to lose my sense of humor?

➚ It's sick

Republicans should refuse to entertain much of anything based on the color of one's skin.

Democrats are all about spitting on Martin Luther King's most famous words. I suggest we not join in.

This month we're announcing the launch of 'African Americans for Obama' - Racist President, Barack Obama.

Noel, I think you're getting perilously worried!

Submitted by CO2Maker on Sat, 07/14/2012 - 1:39pm.

It was funny and it worked! Leno gets +1 for a good joke. And the PC crowd can congratulate themselves (that's what they call it now) for being forbearing and at the same time, chuckling at slurs. Ooooh, we're naughty.

And in an election year, the long knives will be out, sharpened and ready to try to do some damage to any Republican, as long as he can keep his beloved Boy Barry around!

Hypocrisy of politics and government

Submitted by GregE on Sat, 07/14/2012 - 2:47pm.

If I talk about hiring someone at work and talk about their race or gender as a key to it, what will happen to me?

Yet in politics and government, race and genitals of nominees and appointments is some kind of qualifier.

And who made the laws about my hiring practice do's and don't? Same politicians and government.

Exactly right, Greg

Submitted by Cool Arrow on Sat, 07/14/2012 - 3:08pm.

It's wrong for Democrats to to engage in "Because ___'s black" and it's wrong for Republicans to play it too.

Condi, Marco, West . . . any of them for their ability, but none of them for their ethnicity. It's an insult to the human being to be imputed extra value because of their ethnicity.

Must fear Condi a lot.

She would be an excellent GOP choice for VP

Submitted by DC2280 on Sat, 07/14/2012 - 5:14pm.

But I don't think it will happen because :

A. A woman

B. Black

C. Pro-Choice

D. More articulate and better qualified than the presidential candidate.
( Rommey will need to find someone less interesting them himself, not an easy task. )

E. Close ties to the Bush II administration.

GOP VP choice will likely be a white male from the midwest, sturdy but dull.

How's that foreign policy gravitas Biden brought to the ticket working out for you?

Obama brought in a stupid white male who says black kids are stupid. Says a lot about the black man who chose him, too.

Rice seems to have all the qualifications, as did ---

Submitted by matthewdean on Sat, 07/14/2012 - 7:08pm.

Colin Powell.

Rice, while not as effusive as Powell when praising Obama, did say that Obama gave her a feeling of pride.

Anyone who says anything favorable about Obama, up to and including, especially,  his "accomplishments" as a 'black' man - after three and one-half years of observing the incompetent, bumbling, lying fool - is not someone I want representing me in any way, shape, or form.

Cultured, intelligent, experienced, or not.

Condi Rice is not exactly conservative, and she is pro-abortion

Submitted by Dave. on Sat, 07/14/2012 - 8:08pm.

And what is more, she curiously bought into all that "Arab Spring" BS back when it started, which anyone who knows anything about the ME knew that the Muslim Brotherhood was the driving force behind it.

That raises some serious red flags with me.

Mittens RINOmney needs to pick a real conservative in order to balance what is currently a left-leaning ticket.

He needs to tap Col. West, as without the conservative vote, Romney is toast in November, because many conservatives (including this one) that voted for McRINO only did so because of Palin being on the ticket.

If this country is to have any chance at all at surviving for much longer, BARACK HUSSEIN OBAMA MUST BE DEFEATED IN NOVEMBER!

As far as I am concerned

Submitted by Boudin on Sat, 07/14/2012 - 8:50pm.

Mitt needs to find someone to the Right of him. Like Scott Walker, Col West, Rubio, or De-mint. Although I have to say, there are benefits to not taking these folks away from their current duties.

Cain, Santorum, or Newt should be considerations, but Mitts scorched Earth campaign killed any of those moves.

I agree, except that no matter who the VP is, I'll vote for Romney. But I love to see a conservative with some cojones. I don't care what color, sex, or race that person is.

Feh. To think I used to

Sorry Leno - cancelled.

Say Leno? You own a lot of cars, right? You collect them, right? Well, let's pretend I'm from the liberal government you want to see made real. I'm from the newly created 'Fair Transportation Distribution' agency and I barge into your house and say, 'Leno - I'm the Government. And we've decided that you have too many cars. We've decided it's not FAIR that you have so many cars and so many others have so few. So here's what we're gonna do Leno - because it's only FAIR. We're gonna take away all of your cars - don't worry, we'll leave you with one so you can get to work and stuff. Then we're gonna give all of your cars away to other people who don't have as many as you. It's only FAIR, Leno. Because you wouldn't have ANY of those cars if it weren't for US.'

If a Liberal/Democrat politician/media figure wants to put their arms around you, or pat you on the back, all they're doing is looking for a good place to stick a knife.
