Comedian Jimmie 'JJ' Walker on Economy: 'People Are Looking for Work Dressed As Mexicans'
The Obama-loving media might not want to address how bad the unemployment situation is in America under this President, but comedian Jimmie "JJ" Walker on CBS's Late Show Monday had a humorous observation about the current job market.
"People are going out looking for work dressed as Mexicans" (video follows with transcribed highlights and commentary):
After host David Letterman asked Walker about what’s going on in politics today, the comedian said, “I couldn't believe what happened with the Supreme Court with the immigration in Arizona. You cannot even be a Mexican anymore! No, you can't just show up and say, ‘I'm Juan Gonzalez.’ Not like that. You’ve got to have like a taco and a burrito...It's unbelievable.”
“And nowadays,” he continued, “they say, ‘Oh you know, Mexicans come across the border to get jobs that Americans don't want…Now people are going out looking for work dressed as Mexicans.”
Walker then moved to presidential politics saying, “And the good thing now, interesting, because the big election is coming up…You know, we got the black president in there now. And notice how quiet it got out here. That’s kind of a buyer's remorse move there.”
“And Barack Obama, because he's a little upset with some of you guys, so he’s come up with a new rule,” joked Walker. “New rules, people: All white people report to the cotton fields for reorganization, baby.”
Walker then addressed the economy saying, “And I tell you what the problem is - it's the credit problem, Dave. That's the big problem. Everybody is mad about credit. There’s no credit. Let me tell you something: credit never affected black people. No, because we never had credit in the first place. But now that white people can't get credit, oh, everybody’s upset now."

I believe he has always been conservative. Probably to his detriment professionally, too.

Jimmie is best friends with Ann Coulter.
Here is a clipping from a website that i just found when i was searching for Jimmie's political leanings...
So does that mean Walker shares her political views?
“No, you know, Ann does what she does when she works for Fox, obviously. But she’s not just Fox,” he says. “She’s other things, too. She’s extremely bright, she’s beautiful and I’m honored to have anything to do with her.”
Walker lavished his repeated praise with a straight face and appeared to be serious about their relationship, as numerous photos of the two together at various events suggests. His “Good Times” co-star Bern Nadette Stanis was sitting next to him during the interview and co-signed his sentiments, even going so far to say she believes Jimmie and Coulter are actually dating.
The writer who wrote didn't seem to thrilled about the praises and love that Jimmie has for Ann because of the writer's own political leanings of course..

See. Comedy can be bi-partisan.

I think that Letterman was offended that the jokes had not been cleared first with the administration.

difficult career move

If you look at this situation from the point of view of Jimmie Walker's career you can appreciate what happened here much more. If he would have made a few misogynist comments about Palin or Ingram followed by blaming Bush and talking about the importance of giving the first black President a chance to show 'whitey' how to run a country - he could have had a Comedy Central special - it helped Titus.
Instead he flushed any chance he had at instant media appeal and free publicity. He may be late in his career but that had to be a tough decision.
LOL - that was funny!

That's the only way funny ever happens on Letterdolt these days - a guest makes jokes.

How DARE a comedian, esp a BLACK comedian, insult this president, and his policies? AND he didnt even stop to bash Bush, Palin, Romney, etc either?
And I heard JJ recently on the radio, and he IS a conservative-no doubt about it, and yes, it probably didnt help his career, either, but hey, the man at least has integrity!

It was so honest, which truly made it funny. And the funniest part is how you can see Letterman getting uncomfortable and trying to dissuade/constrain anything that wasn't a joke against conservatives. Did you see how Letterman tried to interject into the "buyer's remorse" comment?
Letterman was uncomfortable through at least half of that. Priceless.

Jimmie Walker is (or was) a Libertarian

Jimmie Walker is (or was) a Libertarian, which corresponds to his conservative free market views along with his more liberal social and immigration views. More like a Ron Paul advocate. As far as his remark about "People are going out looking for work dressed as Mexicans", I can attest to this happening. I went to hire some yard help at the local illegal hiring hall and picked up some Americans instead. Seems the Mexican workers did not like my wage offer of 8 bucks an hour but the Americans stepped up.
