Chuck Todd on Supreme Court AZ Immigration Ruling: 'Worst of All Outcomes If You’re Mitt Romney'
NBC News political director Chuck Todd said Monday the Supreme Court's ruling regarding Arizona's anti-illegal immigration law "is probably the worst of all outcomes if you’re Mitt Romney."
Such was said on MSNBC's Jansing and Company moments after the announcement (video follows with transcript and commentary):
After discussing the issue with NBC correspondent Pete Williams, Jansing said, "We’ve been talking about the incredible political implications of this ruling for both sides in an election year when the Latino vote is going to be so critical in so many key battleground states."
Jansing then introduced Todd as well as Andrea Mitchell asking, “Chuck, as you heard from Pete, a little bit of something for everybody. Is it the joy of victory or the agony of defeat for the White House do you think?”
Todd responded by immediately flipping the question to how the ruling impacts Romney.
“Well, politically I want to talk about this in terms of Mitt Romney,” Todd said. “Politically, this is probably the worst of all outcomes if you’re Mitt Romney, because you’ve talked about there’s some parts of the Arizona law that you thought were a model.”
With a smile on his face Todd continued, “It was specifically not this part of the law that actually that they would take issue with that they said was necessarily a model.”
After some additional elaboration about the ruling, Todd said, “I think it puts Romney in a much more difficult position.”
Todd then speculated how other states might now adopt their policies to what the Court approved Monday adding, “And that in itself is still something that offends a lot of Latinos, and it is not necessarily the type of story or the type of political issue that the Romney campaign wants to be talking about for another three days.”
“Any day they’re talking about immigration,” Todd said, “is a bad day for their campaign.”
Did you notice that Todd never uttered a word about how this impacts Obama despite that being the question from Jansing?
Same was true for Mitchell who also only defined this matter from how it helped Democrats and hurt Romney.
What else should we expect from a so-called “news network” described last week by conservative talk radio host as “an annex of the Democrat National Committee?”

Hysteria Can Be Funny

They are hysterical. They are in deep trouble, they can't believe it, and they desperately need to change the subject to make themselves feel better. Meanwhile, they are driving the stake deeper into their own hearts with this literally insane departure from professional journalism. They are being rejected by many millions of viewers and the number is growing.
Let them speak, so that we may know them for the effing idiots that they are.

How can this possibly hurt Romney, when it split on the various parts of the law?
Romney isnt from Az and hasnt been at the federal level, thus he just needs to speak his views.
Most of the MSNBC'ers are simply clowns on various clown shows............
Just answer the question already...

Amazing. It used to only be politicians who went out of their way to avoid answering the question they were asked and instead gave the answer they wanted to who cared what question. Now the faux journalists at NBC are getting into the act.

Hey UpChuck, what about the new polls showing the majority of the public negative on Obama's executive privilege?
"Oh, this is just horrible for Mitt Romney."

It's all Jedi mind trick now, folks. They think they can Svengali us into believing whatever they say. (Part of it works -- the "You are getting very sleepy" part.)
Really, the creatures on the left have no personal integrity, no conscience, no basic honesty or decency. They'll say ANYTHING to try to get their way.
What do you expect from MSNBC?

Chucky and Mitchell will say the same if the Supreme Court rules the individual mandate unconstitutional. It's great news for Obama and another nail in Romney's coffin. Just sit back, have a laugh and realize this is the best rationale that leftists have in their arsenal of talking points against Romney and conservative Republicans.
In truth, this decision is likely to get Romney's base fired-up for the general election - recall American's response to the Bush, Kennedy and McCain amnesty act?

That was quite the stretch to somehow tie this to the Romney camp as if somehow Romney had bet the farm on the AZ. immigration law.
He had nothing to do with it and Todd is just desperately trying to find anything negative to pin to Romney.

If you are Mitt Romney, they simply will make their storyline fit the delusion that he's always on losing end of things. No matter what this decision would have been, this doofus would say Romney is the loser on the decision. Same with whatever happens with the healthcare law. Same with the fashion trends. Or the way the wind is blowing today in Kansas. Or what the special sales are at a Walgreen's in New York. Didn't you know? It all impacts Romney in a very negative way? {{^_^}}
It's all so stupid and meaningless, in the name of manipulation. They just are trying every slimy trick in the book. And yes, there we have O issuing his executive privilege for F&F, and, of course, that doesn't reflect negatively on him one bit (spare me!). Or O trying to intimidate the Supremes. Or all the national security the leaks, and O (at the very least) looking the other way. Let us count the ways the negatives have piled up on O and reasons not to trust, shall we? It would take too long. There are plenty of legitimate issues/actions/words spoken by O that makes him look bad in any reasonable person's mind...
I am so sick of this junk, but it also shows how desperate and unfair and conniving it all is. Gee, why don't they go try to make more hay (no pun intended) about Ann Romney riding horses to help her MS? Or edit some more of Romney's speeches? They scrape the barrel for anything at all -- no matter how slanted/out of context or irrelevant on Romney, yet they constantly avoid the non-Republican elephant in the room.
Sickens me. If the MSM and lib pundits are doing all this to prop up O, that should tell all the "undecideds" all they need to know for November. Conservatives aren't perfect and it's not like there's never any questionable tactics that come up from time to time...
But it's not even a close call...just look at all the quality people endorsing O and his wonderful agenda for America -- and all the fair ways they are making their case. <>

arse. This guy is a constant embarrassment to NBC. Did not this guy read the Arizona law? The SCOTUS maintained the core of the legislation by allowing state police to introduce immigration status during a law enforcement investigation or action. The liberal media noses are planted up Obama's rear end for so long they can no longer determine when they lose. I wonder how they will handle their lost in November? Riots in the streets?

NBC is really getting deparate to defend their liberal agenda and their "Public Relations" client Mr. Obama.
The far left propaganda media and the "Kool-Aid" party have to change the talking points and provide distractions for the Obama administration.
The total incompetence of this administration does not allow honest debate on the last 3 years so the public relations media has to manufacture these kinds of non-arguments and convince people that they are important.
Failure to do so will cause people to think about the poor economy, high unemployment, and lack of basic legal requirements for most of the administration’s actions. Which means the elitist of the propaganda media will be exposed for their lies and disservice to the American people for the last 3 years.
They cannot survive such exposure, their credibility is already at the lowest point in history, and their product is no longer really wanted because of their bias. Many media conglomerates will find the next few years hard and embarrassing if they cannot keep an incompetent administration in office until the can find someone that is capable of leadership, hopefully before the country falls too far.

Mind boggling - Scalia on the AZ decision.
Submitted by Gary Hall on Mon, 06/25/2012 - 1:46pm.
An excerpt from Justice Scalia's dissenting opinion:
ARIZONA v. UNITED STATES - Opinion of SCALIA, J.
The President said [recent executive order] at a news conference that the new program [exempting from immigration enforcement some 1.4 million illegal immigrants under the age of 30] is “the right thing to do” in light of Congress’s failure to pass the Administration’s proposed revision of the Immigration Act.7 Perhaps it is, though Arizona may not think so. But to say, as the Court does, that Arizona contradicts federal law by enforcing applications of the Immigration Act that the President declines to enforce boggles the mind.
