Morgan Freeman: 'We're In a Lot of Trouble If We Don't Reelect Obama' - People on Other Side 'Scare Me'
Oscar-winning actor Morgan Freeman said Tuesday, "We’re going to be in a lot of trouble if we don't reelect" Barack Obama.
Appearing on PBS's Tavis Smiley show, Freeman added, "Because people on the other side of the fence scare me" (video follows with transcript and commentary):
MORGAN FREEMAN: I think that we did a really good thing when we elected Barack Obama. I read his books, they read his books. He is absolutely and totally qualified for the job. He has proven himself to be not only qualified for the job, but very good at it. The things that he’s managed to get accomplished in the face of so much push back is amazing. And I think, this is Morgan Freeman's personal thought, we’re going to be in a lot of trouble if we don't reelect him because people on the other side of the fence scare me.
I guess Freeman forgot that he said last September Obama's made racism "worse."
Of course, he also said the Tea Party is going to do "whatever [it] can to get this black man outta here."
Exit question: If Obama's doing such a great job in Freeman's view, what does he think about black unemployment at 12.3 percent?

I do not understand the public idea that celebs are the most intelligent people available. Freeman is an actor and has been a good one. However he is no different than anyone else that has an opinion!
We simply cannot afford four more years of the out of control spending and redirecting the US economy toward a socialist dictatorship! Obama is a Socialist and intends to remake the USA into this form of government.
Governments have not and will not create jobs. The private small and large businesses drive a healthy economy with hiring and additional investment in economies.
The indications from the Obama regime is anti business and that the government is the source. Look at Italy, Spain and Greece. They are in the last throws of a dying socialist full benefits disaster. If re-elected, Obama will force this country into this situation and put us into this spiral.

( Demaris promptly hired Gloria Allred.) He is not the cool cat that he portrays in the movies. Actors are actors. Very egocentric people who play roles. Yeah, I'm done with him as a main character in any movie. If he's in the third batman movie, I'll let it slide because I want to watch it as it's also the last one after The Dark Knight, but like many of the earlier responses here, I will not watch him in anything, that is to say unless his character gets killed off early on in the movie.
I'vef enjoyed some others movies with that same attitude that if I didn't like a certain actor, I look for them to get killed off in the movie.
Bill Cosby was getting the same way, I thought he was a smart guy too, but these days, no so much.
Amazing how disappointing people can be, but even more so when at first they seem smart to start and just flop like slop in the end.

We see Hollywood folks, and we think we know them, and thus, we like them. But, in reality they're like anyone else who might possess a particular talent. Memorizing lines and acting believably could be much the same as driving a stock car, or even laying bricks. That they're asked these questions in the hope that they will provide any better insight than the rest is almost like what Jay Leno does with the on the street interviews and Q&A he does for big laughs. There's every bit of likelihood that they'll be basically average, or even below average, of most subjects. The fault lies with the interviewer, in this case Guy Smiley. I love this guy as an actor and will continue to watch his movies unapologetically. His political views are HIS political views. I vehemently disagree with them, but unlike a typical left-winger, I will not boycott his movies because of his personal political opinions. If my plumber was the greatest in the land, yet held some beliefs that grate against mine, I would still choose him for the job. I would hope to see him have continued great success with his career, but also hope that his political wish list crashes and burns, creating a great mushroom cloud.
I would also hope that conservatives in the entertainment industry would grow a pair and create programming/movies that reflect traditional American values that project how the vast majority live their day to day lives.
Glee is a fun program to watch, but would leave you to believe that most of America is gay and the rest is made of of bigoted Republicans wanting to destroy the environment.

I applaud Mr. Freeman for his many film accomplishments, benevolent contributions,and military service to our country. Since he is a "notable personality" it stands to reason that whatever he says, especially in reference to the political arena, will make the widest distribution by the media(it makes good "press" to keep us all divided). Although, I generally do not agree with Mr. Freeman's opinions about Mr. Obama, I'm not too terribly energized about them either(consider the source).
We are typically kept divided, not in half, but in many, many slices like a pie, and are at the point where you may be partisan--in thought--with another about one issue, but an opponent with them on the next. Someone like Mr. Freeman may have race as a paramount factor in his decision making making process, but for reasons that many of us can't fully understand(or care). My point is, the lines have been drawn for some time now, a few comments by Morgan Freeman aren't going to make a bit of difference, other than get a rise out of a few folks.
Let's face it, the Democrats and Republicans are like left and right oars in a rowboat, both leading us to the same [ultimate] destination.

With few exceptions actors are empty shells with little or no content or character and original thought, for get about it, never crossed their mind. Writers and directors take these empty shells and fill them with the words and personality they are looking for with the intention of making money.
Most actors spend their lives being patted on the back and lauded as being smart, good looking, knowing everything in an attempt to keep them happy and productive, and they start believing it. Then comes a politician with an agenda, puts words in their mouth, gives a pat on the back. effusively lauds them and props them in front of a camera.
Actors should receive no more respect than they did in Shakespeare's day.

What in the freaking world is in those books that makes anybody say he is qualified to be President of the United States?? Page six where he is living 2 stories up in an apartment in uptown Manhatten?
