Mort Zuckerman Smacks Down Eleanor Clift: 'I Know About Bain Capital Since I Was Involved With It'

U.S. News and World Report's Mort Zuckerman deliciously smacked down the perilously liberal and unwarrantedly arrogant Newsweek columnist Eleanor Clift on this weekend's edition of PBS's The McLaughlin Group.

When Clift ignorantly said Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney didn't create jobs at Bain Capital, Zuckerman quickly dismissed her saying, "I’m not going to argue. I know about Bain Capital since I was involved with it" (video follows with transcribed highlights and commentary):

Story Continues Below Ad ↓

In the middle of a lengthy discussion about the presidential campaign, host John McLaughlin said, “I think Romney wears his wealth with great modesty.”

Zuckerman responded, “Actually, I think he does.”

“A modest guy,” said McLaughlin.

“Absolutely. I really think he does,” Zuckerman continued. “I knew him when he was governor of Massachusetts.”

“That was when he had Bain Capital,” noted McLaughlin. “What was that like?”

“Bain Capital,” answered Zuckerman, “was one of the best companies to reinvigorate a lot of companies that were going down, and he did that very successfully, and created a lot of wealth and a lot of jobs I might say.”

“He didn’t create a lot of jobs,” interrupted Clift.

“I’m sorry,” scolded Zuckerman, “I’m not going to argue. I know about Bain Capital since I was involved with it.”

Of course, Clift wasn't and therefore like so many of her Obama-loving colleagues was merely echoing talking points devoid of facts.

Sadly, this has been what we've witnessed from her ilk since this campaign began: virtually everything they claim about Romney's past including at Bain Capital is a fairy tale designed to propagandize the public into thinking he's something he's not.

When someone with actual experience with the former Massachusetts governor - in this case, someone who supported Barack Obama in 2008! - shares his firsthand knowledge of the candidate, the President's shills pretend to know more about the subject.

It therefore was delightful to see Clift get smacked down so swiftly.

If only this happened every time a liberal media member spoke without any factual basis - we might actually have a more informed electorate.

Bravo, Mort! Bravo!

Submitted by MikeB on Sat, 06/16/2012 - 1:06pm.

Mr. Zuckerman was terribly rude to Elenor, smacking her with facts like that. Ms. Clift, like so many on the left has no knowledge of the facts; she has the opinion provided to her by the DNC, and that is all she needs. Had Mr. Zuckerman had more time and provided more facts that would had destroyed her insular little universe, we would have been treated to the sight of Ms. Clift plugging her ears with her fingers and shouting, "lalalalalala I can't hear you!" After which, she and her slimy cohorts of the liberal media would have bragged about how they schooled Mr. Zuckerman.

You are sure clever, working in that kind of language without using the actual word. Congratulations. Now please take that language to the liberal boards where they can't even communicate any other way.

chastise another's use of language or recondite spelling, all well and good, as it is a free country.

Well, it is at least until someone gets offended.

That said, at least try and do better than coming up with the old saw "people who use intemperate language are either not smart enough to debate or have no solid points with which to debate."

The language used by some can indeed be offensive at times, I understand that; and while you certainly have a right to point it out; having read posts by the individual with whom you are currently displeased, I can say truthfully that he is well read, well versed, and quite capable of debating with clarity and reason, sans "bad" language.

To suggest otherwise because your sense of propriety was offended, is asinine.

Smacking down Eleanor, that seems to be happening more and more frequently. One would think that she'd learn to keep her mouth shut while the adults are speaking.

Bain Capital and the Catholic Church

Submitted by motherbelt on Sat, 06/16/2012 - 1:48pm.

There are not a hundred people in America who hate the Catholic Church. There are millions of people who hate what they wrongly believe to be the Catholic Church — which is, of course, quite a different thing. -Bishop Fulton J. Sheen

Bain Capital is a lot like that.

I liked listening to him. Imagine that, preaching in prime time, on a mss, CBS, NBC, ABC, WOR, WPIX, 13, A Newark station, I think. There was a lot of good TV on in the 50's, too bad they didn't have hi-def back then, and color like now. I remember Kathryn Kullman preaching as well. She was intriguing to say the least, I loved that she seemed happy all the time. Of course, now I know why.

Bain capital created and

Submitted by Nyder on Sat, 06/16/2012 - 3:36pm.

Bain capital created and SAVED more jobs than Obama ever did. What do the dems do, find the one company they couldn't save because of world market place and then spin it so he is a vampire. When in fact the company in question would have gone under SOONER if it not were for Bain capital, and ignoring the fact that Romney wasn't even with Bain at the time of the companies collapse.

The fact Clift pretends this isn't true shows what a complete HACK she is, as she doesn't have an ounce of journalistic integrity.

I'm sorry and I'm glad he smacked down that imbecile but whenever I hear Zuckerman I remember him saying "We support Obama", that showed such poor judgement I'll never forgive him for that. Also just who was he talking about when he said We.

She's so wrong so often. After your ears get accustomed to the sound of her fingernails-on-the-blackboard voice, you realize she speaks with a Clift palate, all talking points, no sense, no logic, no nutritive value whatsoever.

1. Open a new file in your computer.

2. Name it 'Barack Obama'.

3. Send it to the Recycle Bin.

4. Empty the Recycle Bin.

5. Your PC will ask you: "'Do you really want to get rid of 'Barack Obama?"

6. Firmly Click 'Yes.'

7. Feel better? GOOD! Tomorrow we'll do Nancy Pelosi.
