Krauthammer Tells 'Inside Washington' Moderator 'That’s a Clown Question, Bro'
Syndicated columnist Charles Krauthammer demonstrated surprising internet and Twitter savvy on PBS's Inside Washington Friday.
In response to a query from host Gordon Peterson, Krauthammer channeled his best Bryce Harper and said, "That’s a clown question, bro" (video follows with transcript and commentary):
GORDON PETERSON, HOST: One of my favorite columnists writes this week that Barack Obama's opponent "is a stolid, gaffe-prone challenger for whom conservatism is a second language.” And you write, Charles, that “the less we see of these two gentlemen, the better each of them fares."
CHARLES KRAUTHAMMER: That’s a clown question, bro.
[Laughter]
PETERSON: Thank you.
KRAUTHAMMER: You were quoting [Laughs]. There’s a back story there, but too long to explain. Look it up on the internet. It’s on Twitter.
For those not getting the joke, Washington Nationals rookie sensation Bryce Harper responded that way earlier in the week to a typically silly question from a member of the media.
His comment eventually went viral on the internet even sparking the Twitter hashtag #ClownQuestionBro.
You gotta love Krauthammer for not only knowing about it, but beautifully working it into a political discussion on IW.
Bravo, Charles! Bravo!

Thank you Noel - I can never get enough of the Hammer, and since I don't get Inside Washington, I'd have missed this!!!

As an aside - I'm surprised at the msm, filled with inquisitive types, who dismiss the power of the internet - as an info junkie, and avid sweepstaker, I saw the potential right off - why don't they see it?

In a word: hubris.
They still think the internet is a passing fad in journalism for amateurs, and they are the keepers of the flame of "journalism."
Bingo!

Without hubris, their self-esteem would be a thing of the past!
Considering recent developments, in particular the lightspeed production of Romney's videos ("The Private Sector is Doing Fine", and others), the instant fact-checking and debunking of statements from the WH and other Obamabots, the dino-media is outperformed and all but sidelined.
In my opinion, the MSM model of collection, manipulation, and delivery, is too slow, fraught with easily checked (and often deliberate) errors, and, in general, too ridiculously partisan to be taken seriously.
When the WH press secretary exhorts the press to cover the Preezy's screwup, http://www.mediaite.com/online/jay-carney-to-press-you-all-ought-to-do-y... it's obvious that the term "Free Press" is no longer in use.
I intend to be part of a well-informed electorate, and the MSM is NOT part of my information stream anymore. It's on the shelf with my magic 8-ball.
clown question? It's all becoming a clown show

A little birdie told me, I didnt see it, that the second "news story" on ABC evening news last night
was about their guy walking over Niagra Falls. Tethered.
Again, news in general has become a clown show

Very mature for his age. He's also a Mormon (no drinking), so that was an especially dumb question to ask -- you can see the disgust in his eyes.
You know, this 19-year-old just provided a wise standard answer for both the dumb and trap-setting MSM questions for all conservatives and Republicans. They can probably nix the "bro," but memorize this reply and say it often -- Romney and all others the media are after:

Chris Wallace used that line

Chris Wallace used that line on Shepard Smith the other day.
For Shep it fits

Why is he on the air so much? He is so annoying! Also--Cavuto and that "get a room" speech on Obama's fathering--sickmaking. Is Fox jumping the shark and the rails?

I was going to ask what it was that Shep asked...but it would be easier to ask if there has been any reasonable, newsworthy questions asked of him in the past six months -- he's always so busy posturing and spinning "The Shep Smith Show." He's supposed to be in a time slot to simply deliver the fact-based news. Does it ever feel that way?! And it seems to me he just uses questions as a way to get his own viewpoint out there.
I can't watch Shep. Just can't do it.

Shep Smith defaced Fox News.

Sheppard Smith on FNC is like too much salt in a specially prepared meal. Fox News has been a place of respite for vonservatives interested in cable news broadcasts but now the network is melting as Shep continues to act like a deranged man with no chain available to tie him down. If his behavior continues unabated, either by changing his way or Fox executives severing relationship with him, he'll suddenly have a nervous breakdown halfway into his "news show" someday.
Shep Smith acting like a street mad man on a the largest cable news network is another of those stuff that happens "only in America".

I believe most conservatives completely get the difference between opinion shows/commentary vs. what is supposed to be the straight news shows. I think besides Shep's demeanor (which grates on many a person) is the bottom line that WE DON'T WANT TO KNOW WHAT HE'S THINKING EVERY SECOND.
And we do know.

Did you see that idiot Joe Klein called Dr. K a "hack"?
Submitted by drsamherman on Sat, 06/16/2012 - 2:54pm.
That supposed insult came from a moron (Klein) who wouldn't even own up to writing "Primary Colors".
So you have an irrelevant, half-witted and liberal craven coward calling a well-regarded, intellectual, erudite and brave paraplegic psychiatrist a "hack"? Yeah sure, that works Joe.
I would add additional "colorful" adjectives and descriptors which provide more depth to my opinion of Joe Klein, but decorum prohibits.
Seriously?????

Barack Obama's opponent "is a stolid, gaffe-prone challenger for whom conservatism is a second language.”
Barack Obama's opponent is "gaffe-prone"??
I'm not sure Biden can recite the alphabet correctly, and yet Romney is gaffe-prone??
