Bill Maher: 'The Problem With Racism Is Matt Drudge'
HBO's Bill Maher on Friday blamed racism in America on the creator and editor of one of the nation's leading news aggregating websites The Drudge Report.
In a Real Time segment defending actress Gwyneth Paltrow from recent accusations of racism for an indelicate Twitter comment, Maher said, "The problem with racism is Matt Drudge" (video follows with transcript and commentary):
BILL MAHER: I would just like to say the problem with racism is not Gwyneth Paltrow. The problem with racism is Matt Drudge. I picked from Matt Drudge’s website, just this over a month, we monitored this. Just as a couple, show some of the pictures that were on Matt.
There, Mike Tyson looking like he’s going to eat your head. Oh yes, Louis Farrakhan, because he’s so relevant now. Oh, and Marion Barry, he’s in the news every day also. Oh yes, Reverend Wright, because he matters to your life so much.
This is who appears on the Drudge Report. Oh yes, and there’s Al Sharpton telling Eric Holder what he should do. And Michael Jordan angry because that’s how we all remember him.
This is racism in America.
So because Drudge sometimes shows pictures of famous African-Americans, that makes him racist?
Wouldn't that therefore be the case for most news outlets that also publish photos and video footage of African-Americans on a daily basis?
Or is it only racist when organizations that are perceived as right of center do it?
Unfortunately, nobody on Maher's panel challenged him for this stupidity.
I wonder why.

. . is that in many of those stories that Drudge linked for the visitors to his site, those particular black people were being pointed out, because they were being racist - against whites, against Asians, etc.

Whether you say anything racist or not, you WILL be called a racist if you question liberal narratives, and when defeated in an argument the leftist's fallback position is to declare their opponent a racist.

Matt Drudge is the problem? I don't get it. I see black people on CNN, CBS, ABC, NBC, MSNBC, ect, just about every single day, and many of them have been, currently are, and, most likely, will be, the same black people whose pictures you see on the Drudge Report. So, what makes Matt a racist when none of the rest of them are? Other than the sheer stupidity of the one making the claim, that is?

4 photos of blacks in a month (actually more like two months, but math is obviously not Maher's strong suit- the Jordan story was May 3 and Tyson back in April).
That's 0.16% of the photos. (0.08% if you use the more accurate 2-month time span). And Maher sees racism?
No, what Maher sees is another opportunity, however flimsy, to "stick it" to conservatives.

So according to Maher I logically can say, "The problem with racism is McDonald's."
