Joy Behar Wants to See Romney's House Burn Down: 'Who's He Going to Call, the Mormon Fire Patrol?'

Joy Behar, Al Gore's new employee at Current TV, said Tuesday in response to Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney's comments on the need for more police, teachers, and firefighters, "I’d like to see his house burn, one of his millions of houses burning down."
During an interview with the liberal website Mediaite, Behar added, "Who's he going to call, the Mormon fire patrol?" (video follows with transcript and commentary, relevant section begins at minute 6:30):
MEDIAITE: What would you ask Romney if you could?
JOY BEHAR: I would ask him plenty of questions about, is he planning to endorse the Ryan budget? And I think that would be a terrible mistake. I don’t want to see people on the streets begging for food, thank you. And why does he hate Planned Parenthood? You know, he didn’t used to hate Planned Parenthood. I want to ask him about all the flip-flopping he’s been doing. That’s why he doesn’t want to come on, because he’s afraid of the questions.
MEDIAITE: I saw that you used to be a school teacher. What did you think about what he said about “teachers, firemen, and police?”
BEHAR: What did he say? Tell me what he said.
MEDIAITE: He was making fun of the President for wanting to hire more policemen and firemen and teachers saying, you know, “Didn’t he get the message of Wisconsin that we want less government?”
BEHAR: Oh, less government? That is an idiotic statement. Can I just say that?
MEDIAITE: Yes.
BEHAR: I mean, I’d like to see his house burn, one of his millions of houses burning down. Who's he going to call, the Mormon fire patrol?
MEDIAITE: Is that a thing?
BEHAR: You know what I mean? Come on. What am I supposed to do if my apartment gets caught on fire? Am I gonna call Mitt Romney to come and put it out? See what I mean?
Obviously, this was a joke.
However, imagine for a moment a conservative commentator making such a remark about President Obama or any leading Democrat.
As Donald Trump said Monday evening regarding Bill Maher's attacks on Romney's religion, "End of that person's career."
By contrast, it seems quite doubtful Behar will suffer any consequences for saying even jokingly she'd like to see the Republican presidential candidate's house burn down.
You see, if you're a member of today's media, it's totally acceptable to say whatever you want about a conservative - especially if he or she is running for president or vice president. Then all decency restrictions are totally off.
Just ask Sarah Palin and her family.

After listening to the audio numerous times with headphones, it's become apparent that Behar didn't say, "It would be kind of cool - the Mormon fire patrol." Instead she said, "Who's he going to call, the Mormon fire patrol?" As such, headline, text, and transcript have been corrected.
Even so, this is still a disgraceful comment by a woman just given a new show at Current TV.

I truly think her friends (if she has any) or her colleagues need to have her committed for a mandatory 72 hour psychological evaluation. While they are at it they should do the same for Martin Bashir. He is certifiably insane. How can liberal democrats relate to this woman? Any decent person regardless of political affiliation should be offended by such a comment no matter who it is directed at. Remember that Joy Behar and others of her political leanings are the same ones trying to control every aspect of our lives. They want to control everything in our lives down to the size of the soft drink we are allowed to purchase. The country needs protection from these people and we need to oust anyone that agrees with this womans politics from the Whitehouse, the Congress and the Senate. What this country needs is a truly LIBERAL president and congress and judiciary!
And I forgive the reader for suspecting that this must be some kind of bad joke!
But the Democrats believe in "statism" --- not "liberalism."
Strip them naked of their fake "liberal" label and expose their ugliness for all the world to see.
They benefit from the imprecise American political terminology ---- we say "the government" here in the USA ---- rather than "the state." And that's a dangerous problem. Famous brands of statism in recent centuries have been Nazism, socialism, fascism, communism, and welfare statism ---- this last is sort of a mix of fascism and socialism.
Liberalism, on the other hand, is a political philosophy of small, cheap government ---- it is a constabulary ---- and the job of a liberal government is to enforce human rights within its own jurisdiction.
What "human rights?"
I refer to the unalienable and perfectly-natural and universally-valid human rights of life, liberty, private property, and the pursuit of personal happiness.
A slave is owned by someone other than himself --- but a free man owns himself.
The first article of private property is "the self" and all other rights are derivatives of and flow from these cardinal rights. These rights ---- The Rights of Man ---- are the gift of nature or of nature's god ---- and they belong to all human beings, everywhere.
Show me a Democrat who subscribes to all of the above, without qualifications or weasel words. The words "liberal" and "liberalism" were hijacked by the Democrats and socialists and fascists long ago ---- and it was the mistake of conservatives and libertarians to let them get away with it.
It is long past time that liberalism be reclaimed, defined, and explained by its rightful owners ---- by the champions of freedom, i.e.: not by Democrats.
Well, how about "progressivism?" Whuzzat?! “Cancer” is “progressive,” too. Isn't “progressivism” just another statist cancer? It chews you up, piece by piece, in the name of Da Peepul? Eat Da Rich? Moral cannibalism, anyone?
Friends of freedom! Friends of peace-through-strength! And friends of prosperity! Declare yourselves to be "liberals," then ---- and kick over the bloody coffee tables --- and overthrow and trounce the Democrats in 2012! Destroy them!

That's exactly what he and all conservatives want. Never mind that they tout the cause of the military, medical and fire rescue and police as the cornerstones of conservative social responsibility. Never mind that when the police do their jobs that the Liberals are the first to throw garbage and rocks.

It's HuffPo that began enforcing strict moderation two or three years ago and thus has prompted my periodic defense of that website.
During my early NB tenure I thought at times dKos was getting a little bit of a bad rap and I linked an article a couple of times in which a conservative poster at Kos was highly complimentary of his treatment at the website. However, my opinion of Kos deteriorated over time and I no longer defend it and almost never visit it.

If she doesn't want to see people begging for food on the streets, she should stay out of the cities and towns.
Does she think that fires are not being responded to? The Supreme Court has ruled several times over the last 40-50 yeears that average citizens have no right to expect police protection. The police arre there to keep the peace for the government.
Teachers have been doing a worse and worse job of teaching as more and more money is being spent on more and more teachers. Private schools do more with less, which is why the teacher's unions are oppossed to school vouchers.
