Ed Schultz on Walker Win: 'Not Going to be an Easy Night for Many Broadcasters Who Are Liberal'
In response to the news that Republican Governor Scott Walker won his recall battle in Wisconsin Tuesday, MSNBC's Ed Schultz spoke a truth that should be a total embarrassment for the entire journalism industry.
"This is not going to be an easy night for many broadcasters who are liberal" (video follows with transcript and commentary):
ED SCHULTZ: This is not going to be an easy night for many broadcasters who are liberal. This is not going to be an easy night for this broadcaster. To say that I’m shocked and stunned is pretty much an understatement. But I also think that it is a real warning to Americans that money is now infiltrated into our political system like we have never seen before, and the ruling by Citizens United is now a real message to every American.
It is going to take an insurmountable amount of effort on the ground for the progressive movement and the Democrats to do what they need to do in 2012. And this is also a real message to local politics that this money will filter down, and Citizens United will affect federal and state elections over time.
Isn't it amazing that folks like Schultz weren't at all concerned about the money in politics in 2008 when Barack Obama spent more than any candidate in history?
And isn't it also telling that folks like Schultz are never concerned about all the money labor unions spend on Democrats in elections across the fruited plain?
But now that the playing field has been leveled, money in politics is destroying the country.
Maybe more importantly, given this man's total advocacy for the defeat of a duly elected governor since this recall effort first began, are the folks at MSNBC, NBC, and Comcast going to finally realize that this is not a journalist, and he has no business anchoring a program for a so-called news network?

After all, there'll never be another dem president. You told us so. So, why don't you prevail on Baracka to quit now, before he spends all that evil money he's collected?
Because "money is now infiltrated into our political system like we have never seen before", right? So tell him to stop collecting money.

You do realize that you have maligned all the kids that work behind the counter of BK and all other such purveyors of cow flesh. Most of these kids are trying to earn a little money for a few hours of their days traded in exchange for suffering though hours of having to put up with people like ol’ Ed here. It's bad enough have to serve such an intellectually stimulating person as Ed Schultz, but to be stuck with an over blown a** as that for hours on end at work. God forbid!!!

Anybody catch Maddow's show? She spent 10 minutes telling the audience that she was prepared to go late into the night covering this election. They apparently had a whole retrospective planned in anticipation of a successful recall. So what did they do? They ran with it because they didn't have anything else ready.
"It started with a surprise stripping of union rights, after the unions agreed to everything Walker asked for. But he said, no, that' not enough. I want you dead. And so Then there was a demonstration of a few hundred people in the snow. Then it grew. And grew! And grew!!!"
Each over-dramatic statement punctuated with another freeze frame of a growing lynch mob inside the state house like it was Gandhi throwing the British out of India.
Then there were the inevitable aspersions cast on the supreme court and the Citizens United case.
I'm sitting watching and wondering ... "and? So? Rachel, don't you know a lead balloon when you see one?"

Submitted by Rusty Shackleford on Wed, 06/06/2012 - 2:45am.
The purpose of MSNBC is not to evangelize socialism to the unbelievers. The purpose of MSNBC is to be so absurdly and openly far to the Left that the regular Leftwing outlets (i.e. the ones that actually believe they are disguising their bias) will look middle of the road and reasonable. After being exposed to the absurdity of Schultz, Maddow, and Matthews "they" hope you will find the propagandists outside MSNBC like Anderson Cooper, Pierce Morgan, and George Stefanopolus much more reasonable and willing to consider.
The other goal is to make people believe that Fox is just the MSNBC of the right and therefore just as absurd and unworthy of respect.
(*) And, yes, when I wrote "they" I really did mean a "they" as in a bunch of puppeteers in a secret and smoky room pulling the strings on how to properly manipulate the public. I used to believe the leftwing media was like Al-queda where numerous independent elements were loosely working together to promote a specific agenda, but after seeing various elements of the media almost instantly blame Sarah Palin for the AZ shooting I realized there must be a coordinated effort going on here. Besides, it's not in a lefty's nature to think independently: they are collectivists by nature so they'd naturally seek out and create a power structure to obey.

"the other goal is to make people believe that Fox is just the MSNBC of the right", Drudge has a link to another Leftist Politico story titled The worst night on cable news. The Politico reporter, Dylan Byers, attempts to make the case that both MSNBC and Fox News are partisan ideologues, and that "Fox News was blatantly rooting for Gov. Walker." Only CNN was fair and balanced. Byers wrote of CNN's coverage:

Public Funding of Elections

I never watch Ed Schultz, except on nights like this when I can watch him eat a big sh*t sandwich. Schultz had Jessie Jackson on his show, and they were both calling for public funding of elections. Too bad they didn't have a balanced voice on his show that could have pointed out that we have had public funding of elections for a long time, but that public funding only supports the Democrat party. Public sector union dues, paid for by taxpayers, go directly to support Democrat candidates. You can't get more publicly funded than that.

Money 'evil?' How about Obama's $1b 'war chest?'
Submitted by ChrisNH on Wed, 06/06/2012 - 8:34am.
Well before Obama started to fail at everything he said and did, Leftists marveled at the $1 billion war chest he would amass for the general election. This was seen as such a tremendous milestone, they crowed, proof of his popularity, policies, and his vision. Now, however, 'money' is a bad thing. Mostly because Leftists want to declare that Walker's victory was all about money, and because their beloved Obama has not come close to that $1 billion war chest himself. People 'know when to fold 'em,' it would seem.
War chest
Submitted by Agnostic on Wed, 06/06/2012 - 9:15am.
If we could place a value on the 'in kind' advertising done by the media for Obama then the $1 billion would be inconsequential. How much would it have cost for the four minute Bill Clinton campaign ad alone? But not only the air time but the free opposition research and spin.
If it comes down to an issue of Obama needing money - he still has his friends from overseas and the thousands who can, in a quasi- anonymous fashion, use credit cards on-line (not sure how that works but I know there was an inability to properly track the donations during the last election - especially because per donation they were of minimal amounts.)

As if we ever had any doubt about Ed being unbiased! It's funny that big money is fine when it's rolling in for Barack Obama from Hollywood, Michael Moore, or any of the front groups of George Soros... And it was great when Bill Maher gave the Obama campaign a million dollars which was kept even after his continuous bashing of conservative women... yet somehow it's sinister for Republicans to raise a lot of money.
How can the commentators of MSNBC sit there and forget to say this was an affirmation of the people's choice for the governor of their state? The Democrats and progressives pushed for this waste of time and money in Wisconsin. The people looked at the FACTS concerning what Walker has done since he was elected. When presented with the truth and solid performance, they made sure he stayed in office, which was what they voted for the first time.
