Joe Klein: 'Community Organizer Is a Code Word for Organizing Poor People’ to ‘March on Gated Communities’
As NewsBusters has been reporting for months, the goal of the liberal media as it shamelessly campaigns for the reelection of President Obama is to paint everything opponent Mitt Romney says as racist, elitist, or both.
On this weekend's syndicated Chris Matthews Show, Time magazine's Joe Klein said that Romney referring to Obama's experience as a "community organizer is a code word for organizing poor people to rise up against, you know, march on the gated communities" (video follows with transcript and commentary):
CHRIS MATTHEWS, HOST: What did you make of Mitt Romney going with your colleague Mark Halperin there talking about how this guy is just a politician, sort of a political hack if you will, and a community organizer. They just love going back to that one?
JOE KLEIN, TIME MAGAZINE: Well, community organizer is a code word…
MATTHEWS: I think so, too.
KLEIN: …for organizing poor people to rise up against, you know, march on the gated communities.
Have you ever noticed that liberal media members like Klein never identify "code words" spoken by Democrats? When someone on the left speaks, there's never a hidden agenda.
By contrast, there seems to always be cryptic, nefarious intentions in words expressed by Republicans.
It is therefore almost a metaphysical certitude that by the time we get to November, virtually anything Romney or his surrogates say about Obama will be reported by the media as "code" for something racist or elitist.
They might not even be able to say "Obama" without being so accused.

Considering that Boy Baraka was never 'poor', and never lived in an area where these 'communities' were being 'organized', and his only experience with it (or so the story is told) is that he 'walked amoungst the people' once in a while...............makes the whole argument basically worthless.

Leftists, the duality of language, and code words

When the Democrats and the MSM echo were straining to describe the occupational experience of Obama prior to becoming a state sneator in Illinois, they themselves described him as a community organizer, and insisted that his total lack of executive experience in either the governmental or commercial realms was not a drawback, but an asset. Community organizers, they insisted, know how to transform the needs and aspirations of average Americans into action. The Hope & Change campaign rested on this.
Now, rich white Leftists like Klein redefine the describe the term as some sort of racial "code word" if the Republicans use it. It's like their explanation of the word nigger. If the late Richard Pryor, or Chris Rock or some rapper calls a black man a nigger, it's excused as street talk. If any white person uses it or even refers to it by anything of other than "the N-word," they're racists.
I have not doubt that should Romney describe Obama as the First Black President, the Left would find code words in that, too.

Love it. I'm still waiting for the day that, on air, one of the nasty Dems or MSM members (I repeat myself, I know) gets confronted directly about this. Always "tut tut tutting" about rhetoric, civility, and the nastiness of the right - but I really wonder how they would react to a recitation of their own spittle-laden frothy talk?
