Bob Schieffer Asks Obama Senior Adviser Gibbs 'Whatever Happened to Hope and Change?'

Barack Obama's senior campaign adviser Robert Gibbs certainly didn't expect this question when he agreed to go on CBS's Face the Nation Sunday.

Right out of the gate host Bob Schieffer pressed his guest about all the negative ads the President's campaign is running until he finally asked, "Whatever happened to hope and change?" (video follows with transcript and commentary):

BOB SCHIEFFER: You know one of the refreshing changes when, when the President was elected, he talked about hope and change. Whatever happened to hope and change? Now, it seems he is just coming right out of the box with these old-fashioned negative ads that all campaigns seem to think are the basis of all campaigns now.

Granted this is an isolated incident, but isn't it refreshing to see a liberal media member like Schieffer actually ask one of the President's top advisers such a question?

Might we see more of this in the coming months, or was this the kind of honesty you only get on a long holiday weekend when very few people are anywhere near a television set?

On the other hand, if folks like Schieffer rather than buying into and disseminating candidate Obama's bogus hope and change mantra would have grilled the junior senator in 2008 about what his actual plan was as well as his qualifications for seeing it implemented, maybe the Face the Nation host wouldn't be asking this question today?

Hmmm.

I would like to think that

Submitted by Scuba Dude on Sun, 05/27/2012 - 4:20pm.

I would like to think that some of the LSM is starting to push back or question this administration but I think in this case Schieffer mixed up his questions sheet. He accidentally had the questions that are supposed to be put to Republicans/Conservatives in front of him.

The only reason that the lsm is asking tough questions today is that it is a holiday weekend and no one is watching TV.

This way they can say that they were tough on O, and all the while it's so much kaka

I wonder what kind of answer

Submitted by killa37 on Sun, 05/27/2012 - 4:29pm.

I wonder what kind of answer ol' Bagdad Bob gave Schieffer - who just proved that his dementia isn't at 100% - yet.

And that whole 'hype and chains' thing was just shallow, vacuous crap anyway, along with 'yes we can' (yes we can what??? See how rapidly and thoroughly we can screw this country???)............and now we have the Marxist/Communist/Fascist redux of 'Forward'.....................except with these bass-akward guys, they're aiming in the wrong direction - purposly.

Hope aint a method.

Submitted by BD on Sun, 05/27/2012 - 4:28pm.

When I was a young Lieutenant being mentored by aging first sergeants all of whom were Vietnam Veterans, one of the key things they pounded into my headspace was "Hope AINT a method."

Anytime one of us in our tactical operations orders made the mistake of saying "Hopefully..." they would verbally smack us down.

1SG: "BD, how are you going to seize the objective across that river?"

BD: "Well, we will hopefully......"

And the sound coming out of them when the magic word came beyond our lips was not of this earth. It was proof we young officers had really not thought things through. We had no plan.

Likewise Barry Obama has NEVER thought things through.

Yeah, BD, they also said that

Submitted by killa37 on Sun, 05/27/2012 - 4:35pm.

Yeah, BD, they also said that 'hope is not a STRATEGY'!!! And Boy Baraka doesn't feel that he needs to 'think things through'. His ego and narcissisn are such that if he just says something - it is the truth - end of story.

Hope as a Strategy

I think the only area where "hope" is an acceptable strategy is in picking numbers for the lottery.

First was the election of Senator Brown. Then was the shellacking.
Watch his average go down further, as, first, Gov. Walker wins his recall, then Gov. Romney becomes Pres. Romney (I, however, believe the Pres. election will be a squeaker.)

Is it hard to imagine that right now SEIU and ACORN are busily printing absentee ballets for dead people and cartoon characters and on election night, 5 minutes before each station closes an unmarked mail truck dumps off the ballets at back doors across this country?

But Jim, how many of these 'newscasters' actually HAVE credibility??? As I said on another post yesterday, they can't follow the party line until it becomes apparant that they've been going the wrong direction, and then just do a 180, and expect anyone with half a brain to give them 'credibility'............at least that is my take on most of these 'newcasters', which is why I try to find my news elsewhere, although it's virtually impossible to be shielded from the StateRun Media.
