Letterman Says 'The Guy’s a Psycho' After Airing Edited Video of Romney Laughing
After basically campaigning for Barack Obama Tuesday, CBS Late Show host David Letterman took to seriously mocking Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney two days later.
Following the presentation of an edited video of the former Massachusetts governor laughing maniacally, Letterman told his audience, "The guy’s a psycho" (video follows with transcribed lowlights and commentary):
During his opening monologue, Letterman made a rather tasteless joke about actress and musician Jennifer Lopez.
As the laughter died down, the Late Show host asked, "Hey Mitt, what do you think? Mitt, can you hear me?"
At that point, a tremendously unflattering and obviously edited video was aired of Romney laughing in a loop over and over.
“Stop that," Letterman said. "No, really, that’s making us sick. You gotta stop that. You’re not going to get any votes with that. What are you, nuts? The guy’s a psycho. Hey, stop it, Mitt. Oh my God."
This was actually the second time this video was aired during Thursday's monologue with Letterman making snide remarks.
Now for all I know this is a running gag on the Late Show. If so, wouldn't that make it worse?
Are Late Show viewers going to be pummeled nightly for the next five plus months with negative images of Romney?
Given Letterman's undeniable advocacy for Obama Tuesday, it seems entirely possible.

who is this old guy? Maybe my 89 year old mother can identify him.
You know, if you think about

You know, if you think about it, if you video or audio taped anyone's laughter, it would sound psycho. Yes, even Letterman's. But hey, that's a fact...Dave certainly isn't interested in them! Facts are pesky!
But really, aside from that, isn't this whole thing juvenile? Did this subject come up in the Lincoln-Douglas debates? Can you imagine Harry Truman mocking Adlai Stephenson's laugh? How far have we gone nuts in our politics?

That's so true. Now the libs are even picking at how Romney laughs? I about give up.
Anybody ever hear Julia Roberts laugh? It could sound nutty instead of cute, if isolated in the right way. One of you techno people need to post some libs laughing.
But yes, this is all STUPID! Now they are just down on the floor looking for crumbs. Desperate.

Chris Matthews had a piece

Chris Matthews had a piece recently about Romney's laughter, too. I just can't believe it. Actually, there are more cruel things they say about him than his laugh.
But I'm not talking cruel, over the top, awful etc. This one is just plain dumb! I don't get it. I promise...I would say the same thing if a Republican mocked Obama's laugh...or any other lib. Dumb. I just can't think of another word to use. It's just dumb.

Besides us conservatives, this is exactly the kind of thing that most Independents (polled) have mentioned they despise -- this sort of stupidity and unfairness. They quickly sniff out the rotten when the MSM or other libs engage in this junk, and it turns them off in a big way.
So here's hoping all these ridiculous slams on Romney just help pay off in November. If one side gets that slimy, how can you trust what they have to say -- or help but feel they are being unfair people in practice -- and I think it does reflect on O, when he doesn't speak up or goes there himself in various ways. It's partially insidious and partially utterly transparent.
Reasonable Americans spot it easily and remember it.

Absolutely. Like you said, I hope this comes back to haunt them.
Again...of all the things I despise about BHO, Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid and the rest of them...can't honestly tell you I have heard their laughter, but I can tell you if I did, I would not hold it against them. Even if the laugh WAS weird! Who cares?
Oh wait! I know who cares! Unbelievable!

Well, here we have a chance to prove our point. Here is a clip on u-tube where they label it Julia Robert's "insane" laughter. I think it's hysterically cute -- and Roberts is a bigtime liberal.
So there. I am unbiased on laughing. I bet you find her laugh funny -- not insane -- too. :)

Absolutely! It was even kinda cute...genuine. Again...what does a person's laughter have to do with anything? You know, even the libs know that. But they are so desperate for their guy to win and our guy to lose...they will do anything...not just about anything, but anything to try to make that happen.
Dave Letterman, hmmm, isn't

Dave Letterman, hmmm, isn't he the guy who was banging a female employee? And I thought that used to be called sexual harassment.

Someone caught Mitt Romney busting his gut laughing. Letterman thinks Mitt is a psycho? Letterman obviously hasn't said anything really funny in ages. Letterman has forgotten the effects of a really funny joke because he hasn't told one or heard one in a long, long time.

I finally got the video to play of Rommey's laugh. That is a natural, chuckling laugh -- nothing creepy about it. The only thing that may make it sound odd is the loop playing it over and over.
Even with his laugh, they have nada! Again, they are down on the floor looking for crumbs. Pathetic.

Letterman's making fun of how other people laugh?
Joe Piscopo had Letterman pegged when he played him in his on his HBO special 30 years ago.
"Under Capitalism, man exploits man. Under Communism it's just the opposite."
"All that Communism needs to make it successful is for someone to feed and clothe it."
