'Jeopardy!' Loser Chris Matthews Introduces Guests as 'Two of the Most Smartest People'

By Noel Sheppard | May 15, 2012 | 18:39

Fresh off his humiliating defeat on Jeopardy! Monday night, MSNBC's Chris Matthews actually introduced a pair of guests Tuesday as "two of the most smartest people."

Almost as funny, "two of the most smartest people" in the Hardball host's opinion are Congressman Barney Frank (D-Mass.) and former Clinton labor secretary Robert Reich (video follows with transcript and commentary):

CHRIS MATTHEWS: Coming up, JPMorgan lost a whopping two billion bucks just in the last couple of days. That’s got a lot of people saying, “Told you so.” Barney Frank’s coming here along with Robert Reich, two of the most smartest people in the progressive side to talk about why we need more regulation on banks so taxpayers don’t have to bail them out. They’re both coming here, Reich and Frank. And this is Hardball, the place for politics.

And you wonder why this guy thought the six-letter capital of Russia was Istanbul.

Even worse, despite his intellectual challenges, Matthews is still one of the most intelligent people on MSNBC.

There's a joke in there if you ignore how sad a statement it is about this so-called "news network."

Well, they probably are two of the smartest people he knows.

Submitted by Willis_Leon_Johnson on Tue, 05/15/2012 - 6:55pm.

Nobody with a brain would bother to make his acquaintance, or hang around long after a brief conversation.

I watched the show last night and was surprised that gibbs knew much about anything considering he really wasn't any smarter than mike mcCurdy.

Smart person and Barney Frank is the biggest oxymoron I have heard in a while.

Wait, and HOW much money did Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac lose and need to be bailed out when Barney Frank was running them? That's like bringing Michael Moore on to criticize overweight people.

Franks and Reich - the smartest folks. Hey, $2 billion is pocket

Submitted by Gary Hall on Tue, 05/15/2012 - 7:53pm.

Frank (Mr. Housing Bubble) and Reich (Mr. Death Panel) - the smartest folks?

Hey, $2 billion is pocket change, compared to the damage Barney Frank and friends wrot on our economy and on tens of millions of suffering Americans.

With the Obama administration, reelection campaign, the Democrats, and their MSM continuing to blame President Bush for all that went wrong, it's never to late to try to get all the actual pieces out in front of the voters. Rep. Frank was the right (left) - hand man for President Clinton and HUD Secretary, Andrew Cuomo.

The Progression of Barney Frank:

2005 - Barney Frank: What Housing Bubble? This is not dangerous like Clinton’s Dot.Com bubble

June 27, 2005. Rep. Barney Frank on the floor of the House attacking those who are concerned about the housing bubble. He states:

..we have, I think, an excessive degree of concern right now, about home ownership ... but those who argue that housing prices are now at the point of a bubble seem to me to be missing a very important point. Unlike previous examples we have had where substantial excessive inflation of prices may have caused some problems, we are talking here about here about an entity, home ownership - homes - where there is not the degree of leverage that we have seen elsewhere. This is not the Dot.com situation.. homes.. may see and ebb and flow in the price at a certain percentage level but you're not going to see the collapse that you see when people talk about a bubble, and so those on our committee, in particular, will continue to push for home ownership.

2009 - Barney Frank Rewrites History - Says Poor Should Not Own Homes – The conservatives forced them to buy (Wow! Bill Clinton and Andrew Cuomo are conservatives?)

This is an excerpt from an interview on PBS's Tavis Smiley show,  April 20, 2009, where Rep. Frank astonishingly claims that conservatives are to blame for the housing collapse -- that they are responsible for pushing poor minorities into buying homes that they couldn't afford (Really? Like this?) -  and that he has been in favor of rental housing for low-income earners all along. .. but Tavis Smiley is caught completely off guard.. “.. you can’t tell me you want to sell these folks short on the American Dream.”  Don't hosts hate it when their main man, forgets to warn them of the "change."

2010 - Barney Frank Caught Lying (again) About Fannie Mae -- (at the 3:20 mark)

.. same as with Tavis Smiley.. Frank’s is blaming the push into homes on Bush and conservatives.  Larry King is confused on the shift in the commonly held view. He's still hanging on the the decade long reality that it was the progressives who created the push to get poor minorities into buying homes This social rental scheme was something new to Larry King:

King: “but Barney, didn’t you support Fannie Mae and the like ..?” Barney interrupts him and says, ‘ rental housing.. I was very critical.. I was pushing them to do more rental housing, and that’s a big distinction.’

It's high past time that some national media anchor get him on air,  plays these three clips of him, and asks him if he'll resign on the spot.

Great summary. Breathtaking

Submitted by tcm14 on Tue, 05/15/2012 - 8:00pm.

Great summary. Breathtaking Barney Frank lies. But O'Reilly already confronted him with videotape of him lying, and you know what he does? He raises the volume of his voice. He doesn't admit a thing. He just lies louder. That's it.

It's a mess over there at that network. The wheels are flying off now. They're going through the lies like a bag of potato chips. I do find myself watching that whole caboodle of bozos more these days though. The end is coming, and maybe that's why I can't help but keep staring at it all. It's kind of fascinating, in a skeevie kind of way. Watching "Mr. Jeopardy's" show nowadays is like watching a toilet overflow. I don't like what I'm seeing, but it's so pathetic that it's interesting.

Look at the brightside of chrissie

Submitted by Willis_Leon_Johnson on Wed, 05/16/2012 - 9:40am.

You watch, what little you feel forced to watch, shake your head in disbelief that people of his 'capabilities' are in the positions they are in.

But, when you tune them out and go about your own life, don't you feel, deep down inside, that you are a much smarter person?

You know that you're not any smarter than you were yesterday, but somehow...

Then it dawns on you, THEY make you look smarter.
