Jimmy Kimmel Slams Marcus Bachmann With Gay Jokes at White House Correspondents' Dinner
Is the White House Correspondents' Dinner the proper venue to make gay jokes about the husband of a current female member of Congress?
NBC's Jimmy Kimmel certainly thought so as he took a page out of vulgar comedian Bill Maher's playbook claiming Keith Olbermann "has more pink slips than Marcus Bachmann" (video follows with transcribed highlights and commentary):
In the middle of a humorous riff about MSNBC's former Countdown host, Kimmel said, "Keith Olbermann burned more bridges than the Arsonist of Madison County. He has more pink slips than Marcus Bachmann."
This was met with groans from the crowd.
But Kimmel doubled down by saying Marcus Bachmann “plays Cameron on the hit show Modern Family.”
In case you didn’t know, Cameron is one of the gay characters on the program.
Marcus has been a favorite target of HBO's Bill Maher who loves telling sodomy jokes about Congresswoman Michele Bachmann's (R-Minn.) husband.
Just two weeks ago, NBC's Saturday Night Live also took a homosexual jab at Mr. Bachmann in its opening segment.
Honestly, what is it with liberals and gay jokes?

Another "tolerant" left

Another "tolerant" left winger using an accusation of homosexuality as a slur. Pure hypocrisy.
Besides, isn't a joke supposed to be funny? What is it that left wingers find so funny about accusing someone of being homosexual?

When will these people learn that you can't champion gay rights in one breath, then use it as a put down in the next.
And to do it in front of an audience that contains an American President! Even if it IS Obama, who is the least deserving of the title in the history of the Republic - he's STILL the American President, and that kind of garbage has NO PLACE there.
No class. No shame. Unbelievable.

...hopefully not in an Obama gulag --- we will find out that his b.c. was "fake but accurate", that he is a bisexual, and that Michelle is... well... I won't go there.
But I firmly believe his adoption by Lolo in Indonesia rendered him ineligible for Office, that the abandonment of both his parents and subsequent abuse by Frank Marshall Davis led him to divide his sexuality, and that we will find out ALL - SOMEDAY.
But, like I said... I'd rather find out free, under President Not-Obama in 2013, than in an Obama gulag second-interminable-term...

I thought Obama was the who really had a gay lover.
There could be some jokes about that.
Like 'Bill Clinton walks into the Oval Office expecting Monica, only to be greeted by Barry. . . .'

The first time I saw Marcus and heard him speak, I was really taken aback. I know we're not supposed to stereotype people and blah blah blah, but I'm sorry, if I did not know who he was and that he was married, I *for sure* would have thought he was gay. You can't help but think that when you first hear him speak. He is very feminine.

Agreed. I also thought he was a gay man when I first heard him speak. If he did turn out to be gay, his wife's supporters would flee in droves.
College memories

During my freshman year in college a long time ago, on our floor there was a very prissy guy who was assigned to room with a fellow from New Jersey (culture shock for both). We called one guy "Mother" and the other guy "Gross Eddie," because the nicknames fit. They became good friends. George ("Mother") would go home to Raleigh, squire a beautiful woman to the N.C. Debutante Ball, hob-nob with the politically connected (the Attorney General was a family friend), etc. He came from money, had moneyed manners, and was personally a total fuss-budget. But straight. Gross Eddie was gross (I watched him smoke a cigarette while lying on his bed and using his belly button as an ashtray), but a nice guy all around. Another guy in the dorm, a total dork, took it upon himself to try to "talk to" George to change him from his errant ways (he thought he was queer, the term of choice ion the 60s). He became the laughing stock of the dorm (actually, he became a bigger laughing stock that he already was).
Gay is defined by and limited to who you have sex with. Everything else—mannerisms, speech patterns, gestures, choice of colors, occupations, entertainment, all of it—comes down to personal likes and dislikes, habits, physical limitations, and other culturally defined things.
Frankly, what we need from Hollywood is a kick-ass gay hero (in a traditional kick-ass story, not some Matthew Shepard revenge flick), just like Leon Uris gave us Ari Ben Canaan, champion of Exodus and a bad-ass Jew. (FWIW, now Mel "I can't get this ranting foot out of my mouth" Gibson wants to do a story about the Maccabees, Jewish fighters in the Old Testament. We don't have a viable stereotype of the strong fighting modern Jew, just the resilient, enduring, surviving Jew, and we don't have a stereotype of a strong, responsible, fighting gay man or woman.
It's kind of like saying if Obama was conservative

There are effeminate people who aren't gay, we have no reason to believe that's not the case. But what of the odd chance that he was gay, and at some time he changed and so became convinced that other people could change too? Perish the thought!
Kimmel's joke is also pretty ignorant about sexuality; most crossdressers are straight. Gay people used to be offended at the suggestion that everyone who was gay was a crossdresser; but I guess it doesn't matter when they're making fun of this guy.

Spouses WERE off limits, but apparently not anymore, at least not for conservative women. As Mr. Rogers might say, "Can you say 'pathetic liberal hypocrisy'?"
I think the real reason why liberals attack Mr. Bachmann is that they are viscerally jealous that he has a much more attractive wife than they do.
