Dalai Lama Tells Shocked Piers Morgan 'I Love President Bush'

The Dalai Lama said something Tuesday guaranteed to make liberal heads explode.

Appearing on CNN's Piers Morgan Tonight, the Dalai Lama told his very shocked host, "I love President Bush" (video follows with transcribed highlights and commentary):

During an interview to be aired Wednesday evening, Morgan asked his honored guest, “Which people that you’ve ever met have really impressed you?”

“I think Nelson Mandela,” responded the Dalai Lama. "Of course as individual, individual person, I love President Bush."

"Which one?" asked Morgan.

"The younger one," said the Dalai Lama

Morgan incredulously responded, “Really?”

“Really,” he clarified. "As a human being. Not as a president of America. Sometimes his policy may not be very, very successful. But as a person, as a human being, very nice person. I love him."

Still seemingly mystified by this, Morgan pressed, “But how did you feel that President Bush went to war so much and was responsible for so many deaths if you’re a man of peace?”

"After he sort of start the Iraq sort of crisis then my other occasion meeting with him,” the Dalai Lama replied, “then I expressed to him, ‘I love you, but your policies concerned, I have some reservations’ I told him."

Makes you wonder how many CNN viewers Wednesday evening will be wondering if they accidentally turned on Fox News.

Which certainly calls for Bill Murray's famous Dalai Lama sketch from "Caddyshack":

Readers are advised that this interview will be aired on CNN Wednesday. The original version of this article said Tuesday.

I knew about the affection the Dalai Lama has for President Bush -- but I'd forgotten about the "Caddyshack" skit.

Always worth remembering that it was Clinton and Obama who were camera shy with the Dalai Lama - certainly not President Bush.

Remember the Dalai Lama exiting Obama WH?

Submitted by metaphorsbwithu on Tue, 04/24/2012 - 8:17pm.

I'm guessing the Dalai Lama never had to be hustled out of the back door of the Bush White house, past the garbage in the freezing cold, to avoid offending the Chinese - as he was here at the Obama White House.

Which reminds me.

Remember all the liberal calls to support Tibet before the 2008 elections?

Secretary of State Clinton sure nipped that in the bud early.

Well spoken. Obama has treated the Dali like trash, and literally made him walk out the back door with the trash so Obama could tongue the bunions of the Chinese dictator and tell them he'd rather be King of China the President of the US.

Priceless.

Submitted by Slyrr on Tue, 04/24/2012 - 8:41pm.

Shades of the liberal reporters who went to Arab Spring! Some hapless liberal hack reporter went to Egypt last year to cover the riots (rebranded as 'Arab Spring'). All he did was wander from thug to thug, saying essentially the same thing to each one. 'Mr. Arab Thug, sir. In the midst of all this destruction, in the midst of all this chaos, death, burning and chaos - won't you PLEASE tell us Mr. Thug, PLEASE tell us how much you love Barak Obama!'

And each time, Mr. Arab Thug would splutter and say, 'We care NOTHING for Obama! He has nothing to do with this! Away with you! Obama is nothing!'

And eventually the hack reporter, practically red with embarrassment, turned to the camera to address the liberal network anchor. 'And there you have it - all these arab thugs obviously love President Obama.' And he promptly rushed off camera to weep, take a shower and scream 'I'm such a WHORE!'

This seems like the same thing. Hack liberal reporter is talking to the Dali, expecting a great liberal spin-fest. Then the Dali says 'I love Bush' and Hack liberal reporter's mouth falls open, his eyes bug out, and his hands dangle at his sides.

Priceless.

If a Liberal/Democrat politician/media figure wants to put their arms around you, or pat you on the back, all they're doing is looking for a good place to stick a knife.

Years ago..

Submitted by Mark81150 on Tue, 04/24/2012 - 9:07pm.

There was a picture of President Bush meeting a young lady at a rope line who had lost her father on 911,.. after a moment of listening to her story, the president threw decorum to the side, and simply hugged that young lady as a father does his children. The camera cangle caught his eyes as he embraced her.. there was genuine pain in his eyes, as he told her "I'm so sorry"... The man carries with him the personal guilt of 3000 dead on September 11, 2001. no rational being blames him personally.. we know it was an intelligence failure, a failure to predict something no one had ever done before..

Rational people..

Do not inhabit the left in this country.

Literally minutes after that picture was posted, the leftists pounced.. FAKE.. poser,.. and it got vicious fast.. I asked one.. why is it so damned hard to believe he could have a real moment of fatherly concern for that girl?... why?.. they couldn't even grant him that,.. could not even accept Bush was capable of genuine human emotion. and they got hysterically outraged that I even suggested he could... the left has dehumanized Bush so much, to many of them.. he's just a monster they check under their beds for at night. Sad, and pathetic.. as much as I detest Obama's politics.. I would never.. NEVER dare say.. he does not love his children... or never has feelings, of grief, or loss, or that he can't ever love anyone..

But the left does go there.. at least with our republican presidents and candidates.. there tar them as subhuman monsters.. then they complain bitterly, that we don't show THEIR presidents enough groveling respect.

Whatever his failings as a president, whatever his many successes..  Bush is a good man.... why that is a subject for debate, tells me more about his self declared enemies than anything about Bush.

The problem with...

Submitted by GeneralAl on Wed, 04/25/2012 - 8:42am.

The problem with the left is they "show" compassion out of political necessity, not out of personal conscience. With that personna, its easy for them to cast judgement on such actions as President Bush and his hug for the young lady. Their hipocrisy is demonstrated in their daily lives, from taxes to charity, they are fake. Small wonder that most of the entertainment industry lines up on the left of the political spectrum, they're all "Actors and Actresses"!

that repulsive morgan has forgotten that 3000 Americans were killed. His mind is so full of BS that what happened is of no importance only, bashing Pres. Bush is his hateful response. Pres. Bush has more class and decentcy then all libs put together. Suppose with obie back on the networks, the Dalai Lama will be the worst person in the world..........

Brian was right

Submitted by smitty195 on Wed, 04/25/2012 - 8:32am.

Looks like Brian was right (on Fox and Friends) when he said that this piece has not yet aired on CNN. Steve said it aired last night, but according to this article, the interview took place last night---and the airing is tonight. So technically, Brian is correct---however, Steve is right in that this happened yesterday. Sort of a draw I guess? (You had to be watching Fox and Friends this morning to understand my posting).

"He went to war so much"???

Submitted by stage9 on Thu, 04/26/2012 - 11:28am.

Um, am I the only one on the planet who remembers the "war on terror" following 9-11? The defiance of Saddam Hussein? And the fact that CONGRESS approved the war in Iraq?

Some people are so stupid, they really should just leave the field of journalism entirely.
