Dan Rather: 'Race Will Be a Factor in This Presidential Campaign'
With the way the Obama-loving media have mishandled the Trayvon Martin shooting, there's seems to be no question the Left wants race to be an issue in the upcoming elections.
Appearing on the syndicated Chris Matthews Show this weekend, HDNet's Dan Rather ominously said, "Race will be a factor in this presidential campaign" (video follows with transcript and commentary):
DAN RATHER, HDNET: But this will be, let's don't forget that race will be a factor in this presidential campaign. Yes, the country can feel good about we elected a person of color, which I did not expect to see in my lifetime. But race will be a factor in this. The fact that the economy is in this strange position that it seems to be doing better but everyone has a sense it's more volatile than we know, it’s more fragile than we know. And in the end, you know, Chris, I'm a great believer that people vote their pocket books.
Somewhat surprisingly, Rather seemed mostly by himself on this issue as the Washington Post’s Kathleen Parker didn’t agree and neither did Politico’s John Harris.
For her part, the Washington Post’s Nia-Malika Henderson felt that if Romney Super PACs or Fox News tried to make race an issue, it will backfire and turn independents off from Republicans.
Unfortunately, I'm with Rather.
Much as the Left manufactured a Republican war on women earlier in the year, they see the Trayvon Martin shooting as the ideal tonic to bring race into this campaign as well.
With black unemployment still at near record levels, and many African-Americans feeling they have been ignored by this President, a little race war might be exactly what the doctor ordered to gin up excitement in this demographic.
As the late Ed Hart used to say, we'll know in the fullness of time.

And Rather and the MSM will

And Rather and the MSM will do everything they can to make sure race is a factor in their Obama re-election campaign. They will receive high marks from MediaMatters for their efforts to do so.
The disgraced Dan Rather

believes the economy is "doing better" than people appear to recognize is pure delusion....sort of like the documents he and Mapes drew up in 2004
This economy is in deep trouble, what with Obama increasing the debt buy $7 trillion dollars....
No,,,for me it's not about "race" its about economics..a subject both Obama and Rather have a failure to grasp
That is all
Where is the shame...?

What do you have to do on the left to be disgraced...?
Dan Rather?
The guy who tried to throw a presidential election with a false story...?
To be honest. The left never felt bad about that. Their only regret was that it failed.
They admire him for trying it though as that will be the template for this coming election.
In this election year...

In this election year race is the distraction the leftists so desperately need to keep the electorate from focusing on the horrible job performance of the worst president and administration in history.
But race is much more than that. It is also the the main weapon in the arsenal of identity politics that the left uses to divide the people, pit the races against each other for the left's gain, and re-engineer the country socially through the courts under the guise of "equality" and "fairness".
The awful reality is that the statist can only succeed in equal distribution of poverty and misery for all except (of course!) the statists and their cronies in the government. So has it been everywhere it has ever been tried, so shall it ever be.

Last Sunday night 3 blacks , 2 wearing hoodies walked into a convenece store in Farmville NC robbed and murdered 3 Yemenias (?). One that didn't go in the store was also arrested. These 4 need to be given the death penatly. They won't do it because NC has this stupid law about minorities and the death penalty. They can now cite racsim as a way to get out of it.
Haven't heard a bit of outrage on the national scene about this. The white guys that gunned down the blacks in Oklahoma will be the next stop for the unreverend Al and Jesse.
Hmmm... they must not think

Hmmm... they must not think it to important I live in NC and have not heard anything about it, thank you for bringing it to my attention. That's sad of the media to do that.
Not likely

I doubt we'll see the Injustice Brothers out here.
First, they don't have any reason to complain about the police--our excellent police departments had the thugs in custody before the race-baiters even knew there was a story!
Second, the motivation for the attacks seems to be revenge, not racism. The attacks took place on the 2-year anniversary of the father of one of the shooters being murdered by a black man. That's not a motive Al and Jesse want to get into. They want to quietly ignore the murders of whites by blacks. They can't do that in this case, it's already in the press.
Third, this isn't comfy territory for the race pimps. We don't think too highly of the twerps out here. They like places where the press kisses their gluteus maximus.

They *say* that Rather said, "But race will be a factor in this."
But they erased some of the text, edited it out. What Rather really said was, "But race will be a factor in this [race] if we have anything to do with it." Chris the Wide Mouth Frog replied, "Right on, right on. I'm getting tingly all over. Make it so, media! Make it so!"

long as people like Rather and the majority of the media keep blabbibg about race, it will be a factor, which is their goal. Obama has zero to run on so, they will keep up the race baiting and war on women as their political talking points. Americans are smart and disregard much of these radicals faces on tv so, it will be a loosing battle but, it will be pushed anyway.

The minorities in America are going to get very tired of being used by politicians and racist black 'leader's' that never produce and their lives get worse after every election.
IF the republican party gave a damn about the American People, and in particular, the minority vote, they would have a national campaign focusing on "What has your democrat representative done for you in the last 50 years? Is your life better now? Or worse?"
In spite of the best efforts to under-educate and dumb down the inner city children, they really aren't stupid, just uninformed and uneducated.
The 'republicans' SHOULD make it about race and racial harmony instead of the constant belching from the democrats keeping them in slavery.
End 'gun violence in America' - Require training and MANDATORY "Shall Carry" by every Citizen.
If harry reid is the best person to lead the senate, what does that say about the other 99 senators?

Hey Dan, you old phony has-been...............breaking news!!! This just in!!! The LAST election was 'all about race', in case your dementia has kicked in so bad that you can't remember. And it was 'all about race' so that it 'wouldn't be about race' anymore, since everyone was doing the 'right' thing by (s)electing Boy Baraka.
So how did we get from there to here, Mr. I'd-Rather-Not??? Pretty simple................we went from 'race' to 'race on steroids', and you guys in the MSM and the StateRun Media are complicit, once again, in helping to pump it up.

One of his first big national stories was Kennedy's assassination--in fact, it's where he made his reputation at CBS--and one of his first reports described how children at a local middle school cheered when they heard the news.
Well, they cheered when they heard that school was closing early and they were going home. The principal didn't tell them what the real reason was.
The news director at the local CBS affiliate kicked Rather and his national crew out of his newsroom.
From then on, it was, "No, Mr. President, are you [running for election]?" to President Nixon at a news conference during the heyday of the Watergate story. Bush's drunken-driving October Surprise and then the TANG memos.

BTW, was Rather the prototype for Doonesbury's Roland Hedley, or was that Geraldo? Or maybe a combination of the two?

Obama's Opponent is White
Submitted by minky on Sun, 04/08/2012 - 7:50pm.
Just as any criticism of Obama is considered racist by much of the left, the simple fact that his opponent is white will make race a factor in the election. You can't run against a black man without being considered anti-black by a good percentage of the left. They are so obsessed with race that they create the racial tension themselves.
Off to the Races

What is the fascination in electing a "person of color"? So, is this an admission that Obama truly is our first Affirmative Action president? Great. Normally, I would like to see the person most qualified to hold the office win.
We elected Obama why, again? Was it his stellar record in the US Senate? Was it his spectacular accomplishments in the Illinois Senate? Could it have been his electrifying achievements as president of Harvard law school? No, we elected Obama because he's black, and he wasn't Bush.
And how stupid was that? Just look where we've gone since then. Unprecedented power grabs, an incredible growth in the national debt, unemployment so bad the White House has to lie about the figures, and a spineless president still blaming previous administrations for his failures,
Dis country has sho' gone crazy, but - Lawdy - we gots us a colored man in the White House!
Just look at how post-racial we are!!
That 'bout sums it up.

I guess race will be an issue for some when they vote for Obama purely because he's black. Doesn't matter if the country is headed for disaster, as long as there's a non-white guy they're happy.
He's right.

A day at the races
Submitted by Nelbert on Mon, 04/09/2012 - 12:37pm.
Unfortunately, I do see race playing a role in the upcoming election, but not quite the way these talking heads see it. President Obama was supposed to have heralded in a post-racial age, and with 53% of the popular vote in 2008, he certainly got elected with the support of more than just the African-American vote. But at every opportunity, he and his administration have been quick to play the race card. They did it with the Henry Louis Gates incident and with the Shirley Sherrod incident. They called the Tea Party movement and anyone who uttered any opposition against his policies racist. The Trayvon Martin case has been the latest and perhaps the most disgusting play of the race card, helped by a corrupt and compliant media. To any reasonable person, politicizing the death of a 17-year old should be seen as the most insidious tactic, and the president has profoundly cheapened the office he holds by stooping to such base measures. He has been so blatantly Machiavellian that I can't understand how even his most ardent supporters haven't cringed in shame.
Nia-Malika Henderson wants to prematurely scold the Romney Super PACs and Fox News, but the ones who will and have already been beating the race drums have been the left. They can't run on the record, so they run on fear and hatred.
Simple enough.

"He has been so blatantly Machiavellian that I can't understand how even his most ardent supporters haven't cringed in shame."
Nelbert, his supporters are all liberals. They don't understand the concept of shame. To them, the only rule of life is "win at any cost."
They openly boast of not having any standards. (Except for double standards, which they have in great quantity, but will not admit.)
