Eleanor Clift: Obama Gets Along With Britain's Conservative Prime Minister; Pat Buchanan: 'He's a RINO!'
There was a truly delicious moment on PBS's McLaughlin Group this weekend.
After Newsweek's Eleanor Clift gushed over how well President Obama gets along with British Prime Minister David Cameron describing him as "not like the conservatives we have in this country," syndicated columnist Pat Buchanan marvelously responded, "He's a RINO!" (video follows with transcript and commentary):
ELEANOR CLIFT: I think it's important, David Cameron is from the Conservative Party. But he's not like the conservatives we have in this country. And I think that he and the President really got along on a number of issues…
PAT BUCHANAN: He’s a RINO!
CLIFT: … around the world, and I think they really do reinforce each other. It’s a very positive relationship, and in a world as full of hot spots as this one, we need Europe. And Cameron epitomizes Europe.

"He's a RINO!"
For our liberal readers and those from Rio Linda, RINO stands for Republican In Name Only.
Delicious.
But that wasn't the end of Clift's much-needed education:
JOHN MCLAUGHLIN, HOST: Eleanor, do you realize that Cameron is in the process of losing Scotland, and there are those who think that he’s responsible for Scotland's declaration of independence?
CLIFT: I think the loss of Scotland probably doesn't upset that many British people either.
MCLAUGHLIN: Well, what is left of the British Isles? What’s left?
BUCHANAN: England.
MCLAUGHLIN: England, that's it! God save the King!
I'm verklempt. Talk amongst yourselves.

Why doesn't this woman have a show on MSNBC, she certainly is dumb enough.

Europe is so far to the left that being a conservative over there is equal to being a democrat over here...
Britains so-called "conservative Party" isn't conservative.

But look where we've been taken in this country by the senior Bush and junior Bush: UN sponsored wars; aid to Planned Parenthood, millions more to a government education system (NCLB that is more indoctrination than anything else); socialized medicine via Prescription drug program, environmentalism up the wazoo, DHS and TSA gestapoism and 3-5 trillions more national debt, ad naseaum.
Our parties are so far left that true conservatives like Ron Paul are besmerched while RINOS like Santorum are cheered.
Ron Paul introduces a bill to take away the Supreme Court's appellate jurisdiction on Roe v.Wade and he's called a liberal. Santorum votes to expand the departmnent of education, votes to fund Planned Parenthood, campaigns for Christine Todd Whitman who as governor vetoed a partial birth ban passed by the New Jersey legislature, and Santorum is the "conservative" of choice of the hannitized and sanitized religious right!
Who's pot is more soot covered? The GOP kettle or the Brit's Conservative pot?
Both parties in America have taken America to the left.
The Brits' ship of state long ago went hard to port decades ago. The Bushes have steered us leftward for a combined 12 years and I don't see Santorum having the guts to move us back to the Constitution.
You can bet when the Wendell Wilke of the 21st century (Santroum) is defeated in the fall that the ship of state will move hard to port but congress will resist and maybe move her back to the starboard side.
You hit the nail on the head.

You hit the nail on the head. I swear when "conservatives" say that they love Gingrich and Santorum so much, I am in disbelief. 3 out of the 4 candidates for president are huge liberals who will take each side of every issue just to get votes.
Santorum doubles the size of the Department of Education, funds Planned Parenthood, raises the debt ceiling 5 times, and wants to nation build around the world and people consider him a conservative? I think the definition of conservative has changed in the past decade. No longer does it mean "spend less money and follow the Constitution". Now, to Republicans, it means force your view of big government on people, just "your version" of big government.
How about reducing the size of government and letting people do whatever they want with their lives?

Clift So Dumb

Eleanor Clift is so dumb that I literally mistook her for Nina Totenberg today in an exchange with an Associate Press reporter, Jon Gambrell.
Buchanan is very generous to call David Cameron a RINO. The man is an Islamic apologist. His recent ranting about multiculturalism is as fake as him calling himself a Conservative. Mr. Cameron will fit in well with Paul Krugman and Chris Mathews in a beer parlour. United Kingdom won't be saved from the invading mooselims until Daniel Hannan is elected to lead.

I wish the Republican party were more like Britain's Conservative Party. They're rather moderate on social issues. They don't govern by the Bible. There are even a few gay Tory MP's. 53% of Conservatives there agreed that gay couples should have the right to marry.

Republicans don't govern by the Bible, there are gay Republicans, and why doesn't the UK have same-sex marriage? UK abortion laws are stricter than those in the US also, btw, and there's a state church, the Church of England, which provides members to the House of Lords, so the clergy there have some direct power in the government.

The scope of contention on the McLaughlin group is quite funny in contrast to their apparent ignorance of the British complex , Clift is ridiculous of course ..But McLaughlin should know better being that his heritage is Scots and .when England loses another satelite nation it also loses a large portion of it's heavy tax base to the Crown and Parliament from that member nation ( Ie: as was the American Revolution . ) The fact that the entire panel missed an important local 3rd satelite completely or Wales is evidence that some people can just sit around and talk BS til they are blue in the face and miss the facts completely , and another major fact is that the Welsh nation is also currently seeking it's independance from England was missed. When all is said and done the only thing England will have left over locally is the Island of Guernsey and the Shetlands : http://www.guardian.co.uk/uk/2012/feb/01/could-wales-leave-united-kingdom
