Charles Krauthammer Schools Nina Totenberg on Romney Not Denouncing Limbaugh

NPR's Nina Totenberg got a much-needed education Friday on the hypocrisy of the media's treatment of conservative talk radio host Rush Limbaugh's comments about Georgetown University law student and women's rights activist Sandra Fluke.

When the Inside Washington panelist criticized Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney for not saying "something less than complimentary" about Limbaugh, Krauthammer smartly responded, "When Obama speaks about Maher’s misogyny as he takes a million dollars for his campaign, then I’d expect Romney to denounce somebody else" (video follows with transcript and commentary):

Story Continues Below Ad ↓

NINA TOTENBERG, NPR: You have to take a risk when you are running for president, and the risk that he did not take this week that he should have taken was to say something less than complimentary about Rush Limbaugh. It was a perfect opportunity for what is called in the political profession a Sister Souljah moment, to say that “I don't always play it safe, I have real values, you went over the line.” And to make the optics worse, Bain Capital owns Clear Channel, which is the Rush network so to speak. Not that, he’s no longer an active partner of Bain, but the optics of it aren’t great.

CHARLES KRAUTHAMMER: Look, I’m sure that’s a liberal’s dream, but when the President of the United States apologizes for what Bill Maher has said about women and receives a million dollars of his for…

TOTENBERG: I didn’t say he should apologize.

KRAUTHAMMER: …for his, or even acknowledge or talk about it, when Obama speaks about Maher’s misogyny as he takes a million dollars for his campaign, then I’d expect Romney to denounce somebody else. But the hypocrisy on the left about this is just…

GORDON PETERSON, HOST: About what?

KRAUTHAMMER: About Rush Limbaugh as if he’s the spokesman of the Republican Party, and as if misogyny is exclusively the province of conservatives and Republicans. It is out there all the time with Maher, with Chris Matthews, and with this guy is it CK Louis, or Louis CK who’s going to be the emcee at the Congressional Correspondents’ dinner? And so when I hear a denunciation on the left I’ll expect one on the right.

Indeed. Nicely said, Charles.

Hammer the unions!

Submitted by Galvanic on Sun, 03/11/2012 - 8:09pm.

Special Ed Schultz called Laura Ingraham a 'slut' last year, for which he later apologized. But he also received approximately $200,000 from several labor unions last year.

So, everytime a union leader appears on a TV show or radio show, conservative guests and call-ins should demand that they condemn his comment and withdraw their sponsorship of Schultz.

Liberals get frustrated easily

Submitted by seen the light on Sat, 03/10/2012 - 4:44pm.

they are not used to having their ideas challenged and are not sharp at arguing. When challenged, they fall apart. Conservatives are sharper at this usually because we have to take on stacked odds.

Good on Charles.

SWEEEEETTTTTTT!!!!!!

This is the type of smack down that must be handed to the radical Left.

the Left embraces, worships, adores, kisses the feet of mysoginists like Bill Maher, Ed Schultz, Olbermann, Letterman, countless of Hollywood actors. Obama embraces them too, Left wing Super Pac accepts their millions, but oh goodness, if a Right winger dares once to dive into the normal state of Liberal mysoginsits.

I am glad this Left wing narrative has blown up in the Left wings face.

We must NEVER accept any question, any argument based on Left wing premise. Throw it back at them and as the Left wing panalist show, they are dumb founded and without words!!!

Thank your Charles!!!!!

The denigration of conservative women is appalling.

Submitted by drsamherman on Sat, 03/10/2012 - 5:00pm.

Excellent moment from Krauthammer putting the liberal's own hypocrisy on their doorstep, lighting it and ringing the bell.

The constant defense they pull is that this is just "humor" and we conservatives are not sophisticated enough to understand. The joke is on them, because we not only get it, but we are fighting back as witnessed by the smackdown of that bigoted, disgusting hog Louis CK. That filthy pig maintains "it's all just humor", and adopts the usual liberal tactic of crying, peeing his pants and hiding behind the first amendment for cover.

Nina Totenberg is at the very minimum an enabler of misogyny, something which is far worse--a traitor to her own gender.

Submitted by ThisnThat on Sat, 03/10/2012 - 5:42pm.

What's up with the "women's rights activist" label? Every time I see this slut's name in print, she's always qualified as a "women's rights activist". Even the NB staff do it. I'm asking ---WHY? What, exactly, has she ever done for American women? Why do we have to support that lie? I don't get it.

The risk he did not take in the opinion of a liberal, was to denounce Rush. It was interesting to hear the entire off screen panel blustering about as Krauthammer went on to explain his point. It doesnt happen often enough but it is happening more frequently (to the consternation of the liberal media elite) that the "small" voices on the right are talking back and pointing out the hypocrisy and unbalanced standards that have been present for decades.

And the more the voices on the right will talk back, with common sense and pointing out what should be obvious, the more the everyday-Joe who isn't into politics will notice as he sees more and more of this during his few minutes he catches weekly.

She is praised by Liberal Democrats, yet this 'broad' is still on the air after calling for children to get aids.

What IS it about Lefties? They just LOVE their own hair. Clinton parking his fossil-fuel 747 at LAX while preening; John 'Adulterer' Edwards famously preening his hair just-so; John 'Eff' Kerry and his lacquered hair; and this Nina 'Gal,' who sits angular to the camera as though she's got a huge growth on her left side that shouldn't be seen.

Leftist media hacks and leftists in general just LOVE themselves too much. Brick OBAMO narcissism, I guess.
