Sarah Palin: 'Lamestream Media' Are 'All Wee-Weed Up' About Santorum's Satan Remark
Sarah Palin on Tuesday weighed in on the press's reaction to comments Republican presidential candidate Rick Santorum made about Satan in 2008.
Appearing on Fox News's Hannity, the former Alaska Governor said, "For these lamestream media characters to get all wee-weed up about that, first you have to ask yourself, 'Have they ever attended a Sunday school class even? Have they never heard this terminology before?'" (video follows with transcript):
SEAN HANNITY, HOST: Let me go to Senator Santorum. Now he has his moment in the controversial sun because now that he’s gone up and been surging in the polls as much as he has, a couple of issues have come up. Some have suggested, although taken totally out of context, the remarks about theology and questioning the president’s quote “Christianity.” That’s not what he was talking about. And we had him on the program last night to explain that.
Also, a speech that he gave to Ave Maria College in Naples, Florida, in which he talked about “Satan has his sights on the United States of America.” And it seems like there are some that are trying to create a caricature, a picture of him as being on the fringe. I believe there’s good and evil. I believe in the Lord’s Prayer. You look at fascism, Nazism, imperial Japan, the Killing Fields, 9/11. I would argue that’s evil in our lifetime. Is it not, or evil in our time and in the last century as well?
SARAH PALIN: Yeah, but Sean, that’s foreign to so many in that leftist media that kind of runs the show here, that narrative that they create. They will attack any conservative who boldly proclaims their faith and talks about there is good in the world and there is evil in the world. And that’s what Rick Santorum was talking about. And this was a speech he gave back in 2008 where he named evil as Satan. And for these lamestream media characters to get all wee-weed up about that, first you have to ask yourself, “Have they ever, ever attended a Sunday school class even? Have they never heard this terminology before?” And that’s why they got so, you know, just whacked out about this speech.
They did the same thing to me. I gave a speech. Sean, I gave a speech back in 2008 where I asked college and high school students if they would pray for our troops, and pray for our efforts overseas in warzones. And they ran that tape over and over again in the vice presidential race trying to make me sound like a whacko talking about good and evil in our world.

any particular religion, I'm nonetheless confused as to why liberals are so freaked out by it. Okay, maybe I'm not confused by it. Most liberals, and virtually all progressives looks at religion as "quaint", nothing more, nothing less. But of all the things you can be, a devout Catholic or Christian or Jew is certainly not a threat to anyone. When was the last time a horde of monks flash-mobbed a 7-eleven? How many Christians plan to celebrate Ash Wednesday tomorrow by beheading an infidel? And where are thousands of Jews rising up and trying to overthrow a government?
I had a discussion with my brother earlier today about Santorum, and while he's decidedly conservative, he's got some concerns that Santorum might be too religious for the presidency. My question to him was, "what are you afraid he'd do?" He really didn't know. My guess is the next GOP president, whomever and whenever that may be, will not use the pens in the Oval Office desk to sign on for more executive power like this nutjob Obama has been doing, so who's really more dangerous?

Santorum is a social conservative, but he doesn't expect or require people to live the way he does. I'm not a huge fan, but I'm getting really sick of the left using his religion to bash him.
The left is only freaked out when conservatives do it.

It's not uncommon for wolves to walk in among the sheep.
They are busily poring over Christian rhetoric even as we speak. They knew how to build a silent rift within the Catholic Church didn't they?
And we're sitting here believing those wolves have been beaten back. They haven't.

Radical, i personally don't
Submitted by Liberallies on Wed, 02/22/2012 - 12:52am.
Radical,
i personally don't believe it was Vatican II. Vatican II didn't state any new dogmas, teachings, etc. Amongst many things that it said, it allowed Mass to be said in the venacular. Also, which I whole heartly agreed, it stated that regular lay people, not only the religious, can attain sainthood through their daily work and life. These are just two fo the many things that came out of Vatican II.
I think in some nations, people took Vatican II as a way to relax Catholic teaching. As I have said in other forums, my parents were shocked, completely shocked when we moved to the USA and realized how liberal the Roman Catholic Church was in the United States. How the priests didn't preach from the pulpit against abortion, contraceptives, not helping the poor by your own free will. My parents were SHOCKED when they saw alter girls, and honestly, so was I. The ridiculous pop-like music that is played at Masses, the instruments, etc. It is not the whole Roman catholic Church, but the United States Roman Catholic Church which has gone astray. another thing my parents were shocked at and so was I, people taking Communion with their hands. I was taught as a child in Venezuela, and so were my parents, my father in Spain, that taking communion with your hands and chewing the host was one of the most disrespectful things you could do.
Another thing that is not preached by priests is confession. I find it amazing how a condition to go to Communion is that you be free of any known mortal sin and in every single English based Mass everyone takes Communion and the priests do not speak about confession. In fact, they even make it hard to go to confession. Most Churches where I live offer confessions only on Saturday afternoons for about an hour or so. There is one Church, w hich I considere a great Catholic one, which offers confessions all through their Sunday Masses, all of Saturday and countless of times during the week. But this is the exception, not the norm. In Venezuela, the Catholic Churches offer confessions all day long, every day!
Priests do not teach from the pulpit and the Catholicism that is taught in Sunday school and in Catholic schools is water down.
I was listening to a priest on the radio the other day and he was righ ton the money when he said, "I blame us the priests for not teaching, preaching to our flock!" "our flock is lost and it is the fault of priests". Things are changing, true Catholic priests are being placed in American Roman Catholic churches, but it will take time to undo the great damage that has been done since the 1970s.
