Clint Eastwood: 'I Am Certainly Not Politically Affiliated With Mr. Obama'
Oscar-winning actor and filmmaker Clint Eastwood has come under some heat for appearing in a Chrysler commercial on Super Bowl Sunday that some feel was pro-Obama.
Eastwood spoke with Ron Mitchell, the producer of Fox's O'Reilly Factor, Monday to set the record straight:
l am certainly not politically affiliated with Mr. Obama. It was meant to be a message about just about job growth and the spirit of America. I think all politicians will agree with it. I thought the spirit was OK.
I am not supporting any politician at this time.
This supports what NewsBusters reported via the Los Angeles Times in November:
The only Democrat he can remember voting for is Gray Davis when he was elected governor of California in 1998...“I’ve always been very liberal when it comes to people thinking for themselves,” said Eastwood, who supports gay marriage, abortion rights and environmental protection. “But I’m a big hawk on cutting the deficit. I was against the stimulus thing too. We shouldn’t be bailing out the banks and car companies. If a CEO can’t figure out how to make his company profitable, then he shouldn’t be the CEO.”
Watch the ad yourself and decide if it was pro-Obama or just pro-America:
Associate Editor’s note: As you are likely aware, since the financial collapse of 2008, charities and non-profit organizations have seen a sharp reduction in donations. Although the environment has improved, contributions are still nowhere near where they were prior to the recession. Unfortunately, the Media Research Center has not been immune. With this in mind, your support has become more important than ever. With a critical election approaching, the liberal media needs to be monitored 24/7. As we have been predicting for months, the press are willing to do anything to get their beloved politicians elected and/or reelected. As such, we need your help to fight this fight. Any contribution, even $10, is greatly appreciated. Please consider a tax-deductible gift to the Media Research Center to help us battle the liberal media. Thank you.

An actor/director DOESN'T know the power of perception?
Submitted by drsamherman on Mon, 02/06/2012 - 9:34pm.
I find it extremely difficult to believe that an actor who has had his commercial success failed to realize exactly how this message would be used in the Super Bowl, particularly since he is a director and is used to the mindset of how to bend an audience to the script's point of view.
He royally screwed up with the largely conservative fan base he has built over the years, and now he wants to explain away his out of it--quite inarticulately. He was either a fool or a willing tool--both of which are bad. Seems like Clyde the Orangutan could have seen this one coming, but Clint did not.

It's not halftime, it's the 2 minute warning in the 4th quarter. We're down 15 trillion to zero and half our team is rooting for the opponent.

Submitted by killa37 on Tue, 02/07/2012 - 12:45am.
I was thinking the same thing, Tug..............I figure that 'halftime' was somewhere before in the viciinity of LBJ and the 'Great Society'............after having the score run up on us during the 'New Deal'..........only to put a few points on the board during WW2 and the 50's and early 60's. And we managed to get back into the game during the 80's, even though the referees were juicing the game in any way possible................so now we're at the 2 minute warning, with no time-outs, and our starting line-up is long gone, and we're playing in 'enemy' territory, and the sports writers are writing us off before the game is even finished, and, as you said, half the crowd hates us and wants to see us punished, and the refs are calling the game like that Leslie Neilson umpire character in that movie that he made.
Hail Mary time??? Hell, it's going to take more than the Immaculate Reception to win this game, especially against a team that is captained by the Immaculated Conception!!!

I'd say we are good for another 400.
Just need another 'Tea Party' to oust the current 'king and his court' and we will be just fine.

Gee, he's a regular Rosa Parks of the free thought movement isn't he? Only a devout leftwinger would fail to see the hypocrisy of that. I suppose he's also a champion of using guilt and shame against those who disagree with the laws imposed upon us in the name of the religion of Global Warming. Halftime in Detroit?
Submitted by Santino Corleone on Tue, 02/07/2012 - 5:39pm.
Detroit and greater Michigan (along with CA, NY, NJ, IL) are the poster children for failed liberalism. With huge public sector (or UAW) pension/healthcare tabs, huge taxes and entitlement programs and "elected" liberals at the table doubling and tripling down on failure while they cater to the needs of their union pals and violate the rest of their constiuents, it's more like half assed time. Feel good commercials with Clint or Eminem won't lead to a Detroit renaissance. Only stopping the rampant, corrupt tyranny of liberals will. What a joke---almost as bad as Madonna's halftime schlock (didn't that suck hard? would rather have seen those dog riding monkeys).
Regarding Clint, sure, put a 44 magnum in his hand in San Fran and he's a conservative. But hanging around with the likes of Morgan "I'd vote for Obama 1,000X if I could" Freeman and Leo "Al Gore is a genius" DiCaprio, to name a few, has to take its toll. Ol' Clint's been immersed in the Kool Aid too long. He's old school and the nuanced, subliminal campaign messages in this spot probably didn't even register with him...I hope so anyway.
