Libtalker Bill Press: Newt Gingrich Is 'The Suicide Bomber of the Republican Party'

Liberal radio host Bill Press on Friday called Newt Gingrich "the suicide bomber of the Republican Party."

Appearing on MSNBC's Politics Nation, Press said of the former Speaker of the House, "He's in [the race] to take down as many people as he can as he goes down, and he has that same silly grin on his face when he pulls the plug as a suicide bomber" (video follows with transcribed highlights and commentary):

Host Al Sharpton asked his guest why Gingrich can't win.

Press responded, "I don't think the Republican Party will, they know who is. He's been nothing but a destructive force as Bob pointed out his entire career."

"They're not going to let him become the nominee," he added.

So much for civil political discourse a year after the Gabrielle Giffords shooting.

Press and Chris Matthews are two of a kind, and you can determine their combined IQs with a set of Yahtze dice.

Noel, you should know Press

Submitted by motherbelt on Fri, 01/13/2012 - 9:13pm.

Noel, you should know Press can use language like that, because he is attributing the violence to a Republican!!

I wouldn't call Newt a suicide bomber, but he has definitely shown himself more than capable of snatching defeat from the jaws of victory.

All he had to do was to shut up about Romney.  He was the one castigating the media for trying to get the candidates to attack each other, and he fell right into their trap, giving them the ammunition they wanted to use against him.

That being said, I don't want him to drop out; I just want him to shut up! The drumbeat has already started for everyone to drop out, lest Romney be damaged more. IOW, once again, Republicans are being told who the nominee is, after one caucus and one primary, and to fall in line.

I'm pretty sure this isn't what the founders had in mind.

Who is "they"? The RNC? The media?

Last I checked the people have the last word.

Press is right. Gingrich IS

Submitted by cbeyer on Sat, 01/14/2012 - 3:00pm.

acting like the suicide bomber of the Republican party. His naked attacks on capitalism expose who he really is. Gingrich is a meglomaniac who is self destructive but worse....he will do or say anything to destroy an opponent.

Oh so in your opinion

Submitted by Bliggie on Sun, 01/15/2012 - 8:30am.

So in your opinion he is acting like Obama? Like a democrat? I still like Gingrich and think he would win in a landslide against Obama and that's why the media are attacking him so viciously, they don't want newt and Obama to debate in front of the public bc newt would shred him
