Sununu Scolds Media for Falling in Love with ‘Non-Candidate’ Huntsman

Former New Hampshire governor John Sununu on Wednesday scolded the media for falling in love with Republican presidential candidate Jon Huntsman.

Appearing on MSNBC’s Morning Joe, Sununu said, “The fact is you missed the whole story here” (video follows with transcribed highlights and commentary):

Early in the segment, host Joe Scarborough asked his guest about how the polls in the final days showed Mitt Romney losing steam and then closing Tuesday to a huge victory in New Hampshire.

Sununu responded, “The tracking poll was wrong in the early days and they covered their butt on the last day.”

"It was in my opinion,” he continued, “the numbers were going to be like the Bush-Dole in ’88, which was a 38-29 race. The press didn’t want to hear it. You fell in love with a non-candidate who camped out here for six months and you thought he was going to do something."

Of course he was referring to Huntsman who despite his posturing has to be disappointed with third place given all the time he spent in New Hampshire.

It will be interesting to see if this result diminishes the press's support for Huntsman or if they are going to continue their love affair.

Stay tuned.

Love affair will continue

They really believe they can shape the results.

Nice to see Sununu school them on their non-story story, though.

I could be wrong.

Sununu is right

If any Republican but Huntsman had come in third in NH after investing all the time in state that he did (he even skipped Iowa), the MSM would've declared his/her candidacy done and stuck a fork in it.

Have they done so on Huntsman? I haven't heard anything.

Joe already backed off Huntsman, and when you lose Joe...

Huntsman can now go out and

Submitted by Captain Repus on Wed, 01/11/2012 - 3:04pm.

Huntsman can now go out and fulfill his true calling - become a car salesman specializing in the VOLT.

Once in a while you can read the true character of a person just by looking at his face and Huntsman is one of these characters. I wouldn't trust him to have any control over my life or country at all.

I'm so sick of the lefty

Submitted by Kevpot on Wed, 01/11/2012 - 3:18pm.

I'm so sick of the lefty media trying to select the worst candidate for us. We can't have another McCain out there on the campaign trail making moronic statements like, "Obama would be a good president, you don't have to fear him". Whomever we nominate better be ready for some bare knuckle action and they better fight like a conservative, not some pussified moderate.

The disadvantage of a circular firing squad

Submitted by CobraMan on Thu, 01/12/2012 - 11:13am.

As a firing squad has only one gun that is loaded with live ammunition, and so far that loaded gun belongs to Romney, it's obvious that the rest of a candidates will suffer greatly for firing nothing but blanks.
