Chris Matthews on New Hampshire Primary: 'If I Were Voting Here I’d Vote for Huntsman'
As NewsBusters has been reporting, Chris Matthews has clearly joined the Anyone But Romney for Republican presidential nominee crowd.
Appearing on MSNBC's Morning Joe Tuesday, the Hardball host enthusiastically endorsed one of the former Massachusetts governor's New Hampshire primary rivals actually saying on live television, "If I were voting here I’d vote for Huntsman because he’s American" (video follows with transcript and commentary):
CHRIS MATTHEWS: If this state picks Huntsman tonight in second place, strong second place, which is really first place because he’s beating a regional guy, it will be a statement of New Hampshire is still alive. If I were voting here I’d vote for Huntsman because he’s American. He’s a kind of a guy who says, “I’m an American dammit, I’m not one of these stupid ideologues. And I really think, and I’m not a phony.” He is what he is.
Yes, Jon Huntsman is what he is, and so is Chris Matthews: a liberal media member that is willing to do anything to get Barack Obama reelected including endorsing - on live television no less! - Republicans that have no chance of winning.
Alas, this is the state of journalism in America today.
Just imagine what these folks will do once an actual nominee has been chosen.
Heaven help us.

Jeeeeeeez!!! This is like a batting practice fastball!!! 'I'm an American, dammit!! I'm not one of those stupid idealougues. And I really think, and I'm not a phony'????? Ahhhhhhhhhhh...........ummmmmmmmm...........who could we tear, limb from limb, with that statement???
I think the Leghumper has gone totally off the reservation anymore.

I get really OCD when I encounter a sentence I can't parse. Like this..

What? Help me sleep tonight by clarifying. :-)

OK, Mandrake...........I don't know what OCD means, but I'll try and clarify my sentence. The Leghumper is Chris Matthews, for obvious reasons. Have you ever watched any dogs before??? The 'reservation' is a place - mentally and idealogueically (is that a word) - where the State-Run Media lives, works, and carries out their agenda. Once in a while, one of those 'newscasters' blows it by saying something honest, or goes so against the grain of the mindset in the reservation that they have to be 'corrected', 're-educated', or taken to the woodshed.
I think the Leghumper is so far gone, with his thinking and his spittle-laden diatribes, that he is 'off the reservation' most of the time, and is probably not going to be able to return completely. I wish he would have taken up Zell Miller's challenge to have a duel.
Was it the 'anymore' part that had you confused???
killa Thanks

OCD stands for Obsessive Compulsive Distorder. It's rather annoying but it did make me successful in my career as a compiler writer. Parsing was my passion..so thanks again..I shall rest easy tonight.
LOL. Matthews just never stops with the stupidity.

Laughable does not begin to describe this guy. He's not smart, he's not clever, he's not even entertaining. Why is he being paid for this?

... but he is gay, JLin! That's why he likes Huntsman, cause he's kinda cute in a sweet sort of way (don't even say it, Killa!). Just the type that Prissy seems to like.
He was hot for Romney for awhile, but he must have felt spurned because Romney wouldn't come on his stupid show, so I guess he's making a "tingly legged" run for Huntsman. The poor man is like a fifth grade valley girl who can't decide which teen idol she really loves. He swoons for all of them depending on who "tingles" him at any given moment.
Chrissy, stick with Baaney Fwank, girl friend, because neither one of these guys is a member of your boy Bambi's club.

I sent Killa one little photo of some "tourist" down here for "Fantasy Fest" and he jumped to the absolutely wrong, mistaken, craven, dumb-assed conclusion that it was me. Can you believe dat, yo?
I am greatly incensed because it was one ugly dude. If I had any feelings, Killa's posts would bother me.
I just sent him a new one and said it was me in my hawaiian costume at Fantasy Fest, But (whisper) that's a lie, so don't tell him. He's gonna think I'm a cross between Johnny Wad and Barack Hussein Obama, mmm, mmm, MMM!

MSNBC and the liberal media in my opinion are tampering with the GOP primary. First they take down the people they fear the most then they prop up the weaker candidates to drag this out as long as possible. This is a leftie version of Rush's Operation Chaos. Whoever emerges as the winner will be battered and bruised and many people will be angry at the winner.
MSNBC may try to tamper with the NH primary . . .

. . . but I don't think they'll have any appreciable effect. I doubt that a single Republican or independent will vote for Huntsman purely because Matthews would. It's more likely that some may even shy away from Huntsman after hearing Matthews endorse him.
CHRIS MATTHEWS: "If this state picks Huntsman tonight in second place, strong second place, which is really first place because he’s beating a regional guy, it will be a statement of New Hampshire is still alive. If I were voting here I’d vote for Huntsman because he’s American. He’s a kind of a guy who says, “I’m an American dammit, I’m not one of these stupid ideologues. And I really think, and I’m not a phony.” He is what he is."
Ye-ow!
First, he marginalizes Romney by declaring that a strong second place finish Huntsman is really first place. (I think the delegate count would beg to differ).
Then, Matthews insults New Hampshire by declaring it must demonstrate that it "is still alive" by voting for Huntsman. In other words, there is something dead about NH if it doesn't come out strong for Huntsman.
And then he takes it even further by declaring Huntsman to be "an American: and "not one of the se stupid ideologues." This from the guy who was nearly apoplectic when someone (Limbaugh?) referred to the "Obama regime;" Matthew claimed that the word regime was usually reserved to describe Third World oligarchies and dictatorships, and its application to Obama was an overt attempt to delegitimize him in the eyes of Americans. Almost immediately, NB found several clips of Matthews' having previously used the word regime to describe the Bush Administration.
In the past, Matthews has also condemned conservatives for inferring that Obama (or his policies) is 'un-American,' associating this with hate speech. Obviously, he has no problem throwing the charge at GOP candidates other than Huntsman.
Matthews fits in well with MSNBC's caustic political perspectives, but his crazy assessments and strange analogies do nothing to inform the audience.

“There’s a rejectionism of the boring and the stupid in politics, the
people up here are proud to be American, they’re flinty!” -- Chris Matthews
Is this how Chris explains Hillary Rodham Clinton's win (39.1%) vs Barack Obama (36.5%) in New Hampshire 2008?

either just admitted he wouldn't be voting for Obama, or that he would use his vote, within a party not his own, to set up a candidate for Obama to beat.
Mathews own words demonstrate that he really isn't very smart, not nearly as smart as he thinks he is for sure.

That Mr. Matthews is why you are not a conservative or a Republican.
You continue your propaganda broadcast and try and convince the gullible that Mr. Huntsmen is either a conservative or a Republican instead of a RINO and a liberal. Your leanings are well known and publisized and everyone is knows that every word spoken by you is aimed at getting you hero re-elected.

Still touting Huntsman? Even at this late date? Quit beating that dead mule, Matthews!
Matthews keeps using his infantile psychological tactics to try to psych Republicans into nominating the liberal in the race. His puerile, fatuous, stupid but underhanded agitprop isn't fooling anybody.
You'd have to be a member of a far stupider, more gullible race of creatures to fall for Matthews' transparent ploys -- like a snail or slug, or maybe a Pelosi.

"If this state picks Huntsman tonight in second place, strong second place, which is really first place because he’s beating a regional guy, it will be a statement of New Hampshire is still alive. "
So, Chrissy, if, say, the visiting team wins second place in, say, the last game of the playoffs for the Superbowl, it's really first place because they are, you know, outsiders? Yea, right! Like that reasoning will ever work to your advantage! Look at it from your own perspective. If you come a "strong" last place in the ratings for a Conservative state, you're STILL in last place no matter how hard you try to spin it! You don't get a bonus for being a visitor! Life doesn't work like that.
By the way, there's no such thing as a "strong" second place. Second place is second place. Period.
