Sometimes you just have to admit that you you can't explain what you don't understand, that can't measure or analyze the force of the human spirit, and that those who drive themselves to utilize every fiber of their abilities can accomplish far more than the achievements of those with superior natural ability.

I hope this story never ends (but it will)....regardless, Tim will handle both victory and defeat with the same grace. I loved that he said during his presser that his real victory today was meeting a patient who'd had 73 surgeries or something.....he truly enjoys sharing the victory with those less fortunate.

Yes, I heard that part of the post-game thing...he is a class act all the way. His parents should be so proud, and credit to them; they raised an amazing man.
Just the other day I read that an interviewer asked him if he was 'saving himself' for marriage, and without a hint of either embarrassment or bragging, he simply said in a matter-of-fact way, "Yeah, I am."

Mr. Shy, did you notice after the winning TD Roethlisberger appeared to make a bee-line toward the locker room instead of seeking Tebow out and/or approaching the Denver players and coaches to congratulate them on their victory and wish them good luck.
Hard to do, I know, and I don't know what transpired but I give credit to those players who did swallow their pride and disappointment to show good sportsmanship.
It was an emotional time to be sure for both sides but that's when true class emerges.

BB may stand for Blonde Bashing after that ridiculous swipe you took at Manning in that earlier post of yours.
Peyton Manning is probably the most respected player in the NFL. He has always been unanimously regarded as the hardest worker in the game, and possesses an encyclopedic knowledge about every player in the league. He never missed a game in college or the pros until this year.
Here are a few more facts--inside and outside of football--about the man you deride as an "Entitlement QB":
"Manning completed his degree in three years, and was projected to be the top overall pick in the NFL Draft, but returned to Tennessee for his senior year.[
As a senior, Manning won numerous awards; he was a consensus First-team All-American, the Maxwell Award winner, the Davey O'Brien Award winner, the Johnny Unitas Award winner, and the Best College Player ESPY award winner, among others; however, he did not win the Heisman, finishing runner-up to Charles Woodson. In 2005, Tennessee retired Manning's number. One of the streets leading to Neyland Stadium has been re-named Peyton Manning Pass. Manning was elected to Phi Beta Kappa Society in 1997.
During the summer, Archie, Peyton, Eli, and Cooper run the Manning Passing Academy, a five day camp which aims to improve the offensive skills of quarterbacks, wide receivers, tight ends, and running backs. In addition to the Mannings, the camp has included many prominent players from football as coaches, such as Colts wide receivers Marvin Harrison and Reggie Wayne.
Peyton, along with Archie, authored a book entitled Manning: A Father, His Sons, and a Football Legacy, which was released in 2000. The book covers Archie's and Cooper's lives and careers, and Peyton's life and career up to the time that the book was released, and examines football from both Archie's and Peyton's points-of-view.
In 2009, Peyton, Eli, and Archie co-authored a children's book entitled Family Huddle, which describes in simple text and pictures how the three Manning brothers played football as young boys (Scholastic Press; illustrations by Jim Madsen).
Manning has donated over $8,000 to Republican politicians, among them Fred Thompson, Bob Corker, and former President George W. Bush.
Shortly after beginning his NFL career, Manning started his own charity, the Peyback Foundation. The Peyback Foundation's mission is to help disadvantaged kids, and focuses its efforts in Louisiana, Tennessee, and Indiana.
Manning, along with his brother Eli, volunteered their assistance in the wake of Hurricane Katrina. Among the tasks performed, the Mannings assisted in the delivery of 30,000 pounds of water, Gatorade, baby formula, diapers, and pillows to the people of New Orleans.[208]
On September, 2007, St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis renamed its children's hospital to "Peyton Manning Children's Hospital at St. Vincent." Manning and his wife made a donation of an undisclosed amount to St. Vincent's and have had a relationship with the hospital since his arrival in Indianapolis."

Blonde, on that Peyton Manning snub ...
Submitted by metaphorsbwithu on Mon, 01/09/2012 - 8:46pm.
What you said was basically true. Now a little context.
The Manning family is highly loved and regarded in New Orleans, even in spite of Peyton shunning Louisiana to attend Tennessee and Eli to go to Ole Miss.
They have been nothing but class from the get-go but, that said, when it comes to sports, there's no victory sweeter nor defeat more bitter than at the hands of a brother or cousin or native son.
When ex-Saint Bobby Hebert returned as QB for the hated Atlanta Falcons and beat the Saints many years ago, he sashayed all over the field with his arms spread like a soaring bird in a victory taunt after scoring a touchdown.
When Peyton played against the Saints for the first time he pulled a stunt right before halftime in which he pretended to drop a knee as the seconds ticked off.
As the Saints began walking off the field thinking the half was over, he sneaked around right end and scampered toward the goal-line trying to score a TD through deception but was barely tackled in time to prevent the score.
He said he'd planned on doing it to his home team all week as a special treat for the fans in New Orleans.
When Peyton first played in the Superdome against the Saints he threw for 5 touchdowns in a Colt rout and showed no mercy and reveled in the win against his hometown.
Which was fine. That's football and the hometown boy always wants to come home and do well.
BUT ... the first time the shoe was on the other foot Peyton sulked and went to the locker room to vent his frustration at losing a game to his hometown team they were heavily favored to win.
His mama, Olivia, and dad Archie taught him better and it should be noted he did call Drew Brees later to offer his congratulations.
That's just the way it is.
We still love Peyton, Eli, brother Cooper and the Manning parents and it's at least understandable that he behaved like he did.
But for that evening, that moment, Peyton acted like a petulant spoiled kid.
It doesn't mean he's not a great guy ... just that he's a competitor and a human one at that.
Somehow I don't think Tim Tebow would have acted the same way.
Interesting, metaphorbwy, thank you
Submitted by Blonde on Mon, 01/09/2012 - 8:53pm.
I really don't follow the NFL (well, until Tim started starting at Denver).....and I do remember that appalling lack of sportsmanship when the Saints won the big dance. Other than that, I do know the Mannings are storied football players....but what matters (to me) is that Peyton never beat my Gators. Period. Paragraph. End of Story.

Yes, Blonde, and at the hand of another nice-guy, Danny Wuerffel , who did not have real NFL talent like Peyton did but came out the winner every time they met.
Wuerffel, of course, was drafted way too high by Mike Ditka who almost ruined the Saints for good. Danny got beaten up pretty badly on a bad team and with less than average quarterback skills to make up for it.
Another class act, though, - a great college quarterback, much maligned as Tebow is now but with less natural ability.
Nevertheless the world is better with him having been in it.

or athlete by a single act of pique borne out of disappointment over a devastating loss. I honestly don't believe there is a player or coach in the NFL--or a media pundit who covers the league--who doesn't admire and respect Manning. If he could run for Governor of Tennessee as the Republican nominee in the next election, he would win in a cakewalk.
He had a superlative senior year capping off a magnificent career, and had been the pre-season odds-on favorite for a trophy which is the province of quarterbacks and running backs. No, even Peyton Manning could not single-handedly beat the Gators. Still, his denial of the Heisman (if the award hadn't already existed it should have been invented for Manning)--which was given instead to a junior defensive back [unprecedented]--remains one of the all-time injustices in the world of sports. For heaven's sake,Tim Tebow lost four games when he won the Heisman as a sophomore.

Plus, every time someone mentions a baseball card, I am reminded that my mom threw away my priceless collection, including early to mid-50's superstar cards [Mantle, Mays, Robinson, Aaron, etc.] because she thought the shoebox they were in was taking up too much space in the attic.

Depending on where you go you may be OK. There are a significant number of Steeler fans in Ohio who might not be too happy with you at the moment. Then there are the dyed-in-the-wool Browns fan who remember The Drive, The Fumble, and every painful event like it was yesterday. Beer and perennial losing don't always mix well, but Denver did beat Pittsburgh and horseface isn't the QB anymore so you might be ok. If not, I know some good physicians. ;-)

I also thought it was a tribute. I didn't see anything in the broadcast to lead me to believe otherwise.
For bbl's assumption to be valid would mean that all previous "Tebowing" poses were also meant to be insulting, and I do not believe that to be the case. Sure there has been some mocking, but I think they were giving Tebow some 'props'.

IIRC, all of the QB's of that "class" (a bunch of the hall of famer's from the same year) have at least one child born with severe birth defects. Marino has a boy (or two) with autism, Flutie, Boomer. And two others that I can't recall.
I think they were just goofing, it wasn't meant in a mocking manner. JMHO.

I thought I was good for 30-40 yards but had no idea it was going to be a touchdown!
What gets me is that the media is acting like religion in football is this new, weird phenomenon. I would suggest they check out the opening game of the Broncos' 2007 campaign for evidence it is not. For starters.
