Krugman Attacks Gingrich: 'Stupid Man's Idea of What a Smart Man Sounds Like'
Paul Krugman, who three months ago called for space aliens to invade earth in order to get the government to spend more money, attacked Republican presidential candidate Newt Gingrich on ABC's This Week Sunday referring to the former House Speaker as "a stupid man's idea of what a smart man sounds like" (video follows with transcript and commentary):
PEGGY NOONAN: Can I say something about Newt? I feel Newt -- we need a little on the pro-Newt side balance. One thing that I think Newt has going for him is we're a nation of insiders, in a way. Everybody's always on the Internet reading stuff. The base of the Republican Party knows that the establishment of the Republican Party doesn't like Newt. That's a big plus.
Second thing is, I mean, on the base -- the second is that Newt's debate strategy was so fresh and so spoke to Republicans. He did this. He said, I'm not going to fight with the other guys here. They'd all be a better president than Obama. What I'm going to do is tell you what we -- what we have to do to get out of the mess we're in. Plus, I'm going to hate the media for you and take them on.
(CROSSTALK)
CHRISTIANE AMANPOUR, HOST: But isn't that the point, though? It is his debate performance that's sort of propelled him sort of where he is right now, after the bad debate performance...
(CROSSTALK)
PAUL KRUGMAN: It was his time. I mean, people -- the Republican base does not want Romney, and they keep on looking for an alternative. And Newt, although somebody said he's a stupid man's idea of what a smart man sounds like, but he is more plausible than the other guys that they've been pushing up.
AMANPOUR: OK, very quickly...
NOONAN: He also knows how to make the case for conservative thinking at surprising moments.
For those wondering why Noonan came to Gingrich's defense, it's because prior to that point, for the most part, nobody on the panel had anything nice to say about the former House Speaker including George Will.
For those interested in experiencing a stupid man's idea of what a smart man sounds like, please check out the hundreds of truly idiotic statements made by Krugman kept for posterity in NewsBusters archives.
You'll quickly realize this isn't a man that should ever insult anyone's intelligence while camera's are rolling unless of course it's part of a gag on Saturday Night Live.

Why did NB cutoff George Will's come back cut to Krugman, something about his characteristicly uncivillizedness". Just the type of dry thing Charles Krauthammer would have said.

He's been a target of the Left for two decades. Now that he's on the top of the polls, they're brining all gus to bear.
Gingrich is a Beltway insider, and I 've never cared for him. IMHO, he's not a reliable conservative. He's a legislation broker. But I'll take him over the likes of Spaceman Krugman.

Krugman's textbooks outside my college bookstore were selling for $1.98. IOW, they were cheaper than deck of cards and fit to be burned.
I made sure my econ classes didn't include his textbooks as required reading. Idiot.

ABC's This Week was a fascinating study in media bias this week!
They opened the show with intro's attacking several Republican candidates. Then they had a brief segment, 3 min or so, with Rahm Emanuel to describe the Obama campaign strategy of attacking the Republican Presidential candidates. Then they swung directly into a panel of experts and spent the next 20 minutes attacking Republican Presidential candidates.
What a horrible joke the entire ABC News network made of itself! They based their entire show on supporting Obama's election campaign. What was most stunning was that this absurb panel, including George Will, allowed this mockery of objective discussion to proceed without ever once pointing out their own political hypocrisy.
No doubt George will never explain how he decided to be involved in this absurd media bias event.

Hasn't this loser been marginalized by anything he has to say after his bashing of Americans and America on 911? You know these inspiring words:
"The memory of 9/11 has been irrevocably poisoned; it has become an occasion for shame. And in its heart, the nation knows it."
Not to mention He's wrong on all matters.
Obama comes a close 2nd by saying Americans are lazy but I'm sure he'll say something as offensive that the state run media will ignore

Answer: Obama.
Many many stupid people [in the electorate and in the MSM] have been asserting that Obama is always “the smartest man in the room.” What is more, we have Chris Matthews’s word on this.

Krugman is a coward; "although somebody said he's a stupid man's idea of what a smart man sounds like". By saying that, he can later say he's just repeating what someone else said. He either should have taken ownership of the sentiment, named the person or never have said it. What a repulsive person.
