CNN WH Correspondent Asks Obama if GOP Candidates Are 'Uninformed, Out of Touch, or Irresponsible'

Remember during 2008's Democratic primaries when Saturday Night Live did a hilarious sketch mocking a CNN debate as being a disgraceful suck-up to then presidential candidate Barack Obama?

A repeat of this happened in real life Sunday evening when during a press conference from the APEC summit in Hawaii, CNN White House correspondent Dan Lothian actually asked the President if the GOP candidates were "uninformed, out of touch, or irresponsible" (video follows courtesy Right Scoop with transcript and commentary, photo courtesy AP):

DAN LOTHIAN, CNN WHITE HOUSE CORRESPONDENT: Last night at the Republican debate, some of the hopefuls, they hope to get your job, they defended the practice of waterboarding, which is a practice you banned in 2009. Herman Cain said quote, “I don’t see that as torture.” Michele Bachmann said that it’s quote “very effective.”

So I’m wondering if you think that they’re uninformed, out of touch, or irresponsible?

After thinking a second – probably wondering how fortunate he is to have such an unapologetic shill in the audience – Obama responded, “That’s a multiple choice question, isn’t it?”

And this is the type of hard-nosed journalist the supposedly most trusted name in news has as a White House correspondent.

Imagine for a moment how much better the country would be doing if there were real questions asked at these events.

INCONSISTENT OBAMA AGAIN

Submitted by TruthMatters on Mon, 11/14/2011 - 10:51am.

And then the very next question about what Mitt Romney said in the debate about Iran, Obama says, "I am going to make a practice of not commenting on whatever is said in Republican debates until they've got an actual nominee." (Unless it's about waterboarding). Isn't it good to be king?

Really wanted to know

I was wondering which he liked best about Hawaii--the ocean or the nice weather? Come on, pressies, let's get to the heart of things!

This question, by the way, reminds me of the Sixties--people used to get asked whether they advocated the overthrow of the govt by subversion or violence--and innocently picked one..."Er, Subversion?" I don't know--still strikes me as funny.

This is not a surprise

Submitted by Marcus Porcius on Mon, 11/14/2011 - 1:35pm.

I said in 2008 that the media was finally giving up the pretense that they are objective, and that it would finally go away entirely if Obama got elected.

And here we are.

They push bias openly now and sometimes they deny objective reality. Obama was the media's signal that liberalism had finally "won" so they don't feel the need to pretend anymore.

Gloat Trap by CNN. Trapped the President

Submitted by merr4402 on Mon, 11/14/2011 - 8:55pm.

CNN tried a Gloat trap on the President asking whether the GOP Candidates are "Uninformed, Out Of Touch, Or Irresponsible?". If the President had chosen one of them he would have fallen into 'Gloating' over his opponents. But in this case, CNN wanted him to do it.

The President did not fall into the Gloat Trap however he said that All the Republicans got it wrong and then said that Waterboarding is torture just as two of the Republican candidates indicated in the debate last night.

The reporter should have called him out on that, but with the mainstream media, they will only do that to conservative candidates as liberal/progressive candidates (IE Obama) gets a pass.

CNNs gloat trap failed and backfired through the President.
