Michael Moore Ignores Questions About His Wealth At Occupy Portland Event
By Noel Sheppard | November 01, 2011 | 01:16
Although he sort of admitted last Thursday that he's part of America's richest one percent, schlockumentary filmmaker Michael Moore clearly wants to hide this inconvenient truth whenever possible.
This was perfectly illustrated Monday when he refused to answer questions about his wealth at an Occupy Portland rally (video follows with transcribed highlights and commentary):
An Occupy Portland participant asked Moore if the richest 400 people in the country could "give back" $1 million each. The hypocritical flimmaker repeated the question saying it was a good idea.
A reporter for the Oregon based website Daylight Disinfectant shouted out, "How about a million of your 50 million?"
Moore ignored this and instead continued speaking to the crowd.
After Moore finished his speech, the reporter and his cameraman followed the schlockumentarian asking versions of the same question.
"Aren't you part of the one percent?"
When Moore still ignored him, the reporter said, "$50 million Michael Moore. Here he comes."
Despite this, crowd members could be heard shouting, "Michael, we love you."
The reporter then asked, "Hey Michael, you flying the corporate jet back? Huh, your own private jet?"
At that point, the crowd turned on the reporter shouting, "Who's paying you?"
According to the notes posted at DD's YouTube page:
At the end the videographer [sic] assaulted (specifically pushed and shoved) by participants in OccupyPDX. At the end of the piece you can hear the DD reporter say to the head of Occupy PDX media: "You are blocking my shot bro," [sic] The Media representative retorts: "Yeah I know." So he is deliberately interfering. The DD Reporter also gets shoved in the stomach about this time. So much for free speech.
Indeed.
Maybe more importantly, so much for critical thinking as these folks in the movement continue to revere a man who based on his wealth should be their enemy.
Not a very intelligent group of people, is it?

Their love for this guy is a complete mystery to me. I wouldn't think hypocrisy was in the eye of the beholder, perhaps if that eye is not connected to a brain....
I don't get it either.

Hell, ant...........it's completely out of OUR league to try and figure out why ANYONE would give a rat's rear end about ANYTHING related to Micael Moron. I mean, the guy is a fat slob, a phony, a hypocrite, a liar, an anti-American, a re-distributionist (just as long as it's not HIS money), a maker of totaly disingenous psuedo-documentaries....................and an arrogant prick (OK............a BIG arrogant prick) to boot!!! And take away the 'fat slob' part of my description...........and you have BOY BARRY!!!!
But then.............maybe you and I are not 'nuanced' enough to really appreciate Moron. Yeah...................right.
As Piers Morgan put it a few days ago..

"It's important, because you've been railing against capitalist ideas..."
Moore (with totally disingenuous incredulity): "How can I be part of the one percent? No - I'm not."
Morgan: "You are.."
Moore (avoidantly, evasively): "Well, if you believe that about me, then that's really something, isn't it?"
Moore has been EXPOSED for the FRAUD that he is..
He ran away from that blogger because he's been exposed and can't withstand the scrutiny. Take one look at Michael Moore and ask yourself whether he's the right posterboy for a movement demanding that the rich "tighten their belts". The man is a posterboy, all right - for gluttony, for "conspicuous consumption".
Funny thing is I don't

Funny thing is I don't begrudge the fat boy his largess, that's a liberal disease. His followers, on the other hand, prove yet again the old adage, " a fool and his money..."
Facts are like kryptonite to the liberal.

If we could get someone to confront these hypocrites each and every time they slip out of their mansions to complain about the rich, they would feel less inclined to spout off.
Regarding the intellectual capacity of the protesters... well, if they had any critical thinking skills they wouldn't be out there to begin with.
You're EXACTLY right..

"If we could get someone to confront these hypocrites each and every time they slip out of their mansions to complain about the rich, they would feel less inclined to spout off."
In my opinion, this is absolutely essential..notice how Moore ran off like the exposed coward he is when the blogger questioned him. Notice how the OP crowd hypocritically shouted "We love you Michael!" to the bloated, exposed multi-millionaire.
Note the guy shouting at the blogger "Who's paying you?" WHO CARES? The questions the blogger asked the bloated multi-millionaire were totally legit and important, and who was paying the blogger (if anyone) was irrelevant.
Moore wouldn't even answer whether he was flying home on a private jet.
All these damn limousine liberals, and their faux outrage over the riches of the elites, when they themselves ARE rich, and ARE the elites. I seriously doubt if a single one of them could withstand the scrutiny of an investigation into their lives of privilege and hypocrisy.

Fat Mike has a home in northern Michigan, that was valued at $1.2 million, when he bought it. Now, it's "only" worth about $647K. I wonder what his tax attorneys and realtor had to do to get the assessed value lowered by half? His "cabin" as he describes it, is a 6000-7000 sq ft, 2 story log exterior home, on Torch Lake. Eminem is one of his neighbors. I"m still trying to find a good picture of his "little cabin" to link to.
So, nope, Fat Mike is not a"man of the people", unless all of the people live in one of the most secluded, expensive zip codes in the U.S.

When I was young my parents drilled it into my head that it was impolite to ask someone how much money they made. Perhaps Moore had the same training..hence the ignoring questions..just saying.

Parents teach their children not to ask about money to respect people's privacy. Michael Moore ignored the question because he was "protecting" himself
Moore has made money an issue by his involvement with this protest as well as his numerous appearances on liberal shows touting the "tax the rich" liberal mantra. He put himself in this position willingly and his refusal to answer the question shows him to be the hypocrite he and others are to everyone but the "brainwashed".

And since the corpulent creep is at these bowel movements in SUPPORT of people who are PROTESTING the amount of money other people are making, why would that excuse him from the same scrutiny???

Sorry buttercup. No one asked MM "how much do you make?" He was asked if he'd "give back" 1 million of his 50 million net worth. His net worth is a matter of record easily discovered with a little internet search. So your contrary view is not applicable in this case.
As an aside, the protester wants the 400 richest to give back just 1 million dollars each. Give back to whom, exactly? It's not like they stole it from someone else (except in the warped world-view of these protesters). So who would get the $400 million if these folks decided to respond to the request?
Oh, I know! Redistribute it to the US population! Each "share" will be about $1.29 or so. At last! Financial independence! Thanks one percenters!
Blessed are those who expect nothing, for they shall not be disappointed.
