Goldberg: If They Slobber Over Obama in '12 Like They Did in '08 'Media and the President Would Have to Get a Room'

By Noel Sheppard | October 25, 2011 | 00:13

Is it possible for the press to gush and fawn over Barack Obama during this upcoming presidential campaign as much as they did in 2008?

Political analyst Bernie Goldberg, appearing on Fox News's O'Reilly Factor Monday, didn't think so claiming instead, "If they slobber all over him as much this time as they did last time, the media and the President would have to get a room" (video follows with transcript and commentary):

BERNIE GOLDBERG: The media can’t possibly be as enthusiastic this time around as they were last time around. I think that’s a physical impossibility. I mean, if they slobber all over him as much this time as they did last time, the media and the President would have to get a room. But if the question is will they be as enthusiastic, or not as but enthusiastic again, I think the answer is “Yes.”

Look, four years ago they picked up their pompoms the media did and put on their short skirts and they went and cheered him because Barack Obama was not Al Gore or John Kerry or Michael Dukakis or one of those guys. He was a historic figure, and they fell madly in love with him, Bill. And it isn’t easy once you fall madly in love with somebody to just a few years later fall out of love with that person.

Look, the best indicator of how somebody’s going to act in the future is how they’ve acted in the past, and I think based on that, the media once Obama is facing a real opponent will do what they’ve done in the past and they will be enthusiastic for him again.

Story Continues Below Ad ↓

I quite agree with Goldberg: it's impossible for them to collectively gush and fawn for this man as much as they did in 2008. Nobody can stay that smitten for that long.

The reality is there’s been some uncharacteristically impartial reporting this year concerning Obama given the state of the economy and his low poll numbers. This has caused conservatives to cheer and liberals to cry foul.

However, this will be tremendously short-lived.

Once we get into the primary season, we’ll see very few negative reports about the President, and all economic data no matter how bad will be presented in the most positive light possible.

As Goldberg said, they’re still very much in love, and are going to do everything within their power to give him four more years whether it’s in the country’s best interest or not.

It's just not going to be with the same swoon content as last time.

At least, let's hope not.

Submitted by ant on Tue, 10/25/2011 - 2:17am.

Besides, I believe Goldberg calls himself a "political analyst" or whatever, whereas, people like Diane Sawyer call themselves 'journalists'. A guest introduced as a 'Democrat strategist' is obviously not expected to be unbiased, one identified as 'correspondent' or 'reporter' should be.

You mean there IS an argument about the liberal media and objective journalism??? And what IS that argument??? They operate in two different universes..................I think that's been proven many times over.

And.............can you explain to me (I have to apologize for being a simple-minded blue-collar country boy) just exactly what your last sentence actually means??? I actually went to the same high school as your Boy Barry..........and I got pretty good grades, which I will be happy to display (although I don't think you can get HIM to do the same thing), and I can't make heads or tails with regards to understanding what you wrote.

However, there are times Bernie can rise to the occasion and set someone straight.

What the MSM does between now and November of 2012 matters not

Submitted by Dave. on Tue, 10/25/2011 - 1:18am.

At this point, only two things actually do matter:

  1. Will enough of the stoopid zombie sheeple wake up in time?
  2. Will this congress, and particularly the House, finally begin to uphold its constitutional responsibilities?

In the case of #2, should they not do so, what happens the next election on the part of #1 isn't going to amount to a pile of beans.

Because should Obama continue unscathed (as he has to this point), and somehow win a second term, this country is as dead as a woolly mammoth plucked out of the ice in Siberia.

coming election season most certainly DOES matter.

What we have hear is a ripe opportunity to largely discredit these journalistic hacks and charlatans and do great damage to what remaining credibility they have.  One of the great strengths the Left has used to gain control of the US despite their pitiful base as been a media monopoly.   Break that monopoly and destroy leftist control of most US political institutions.   The left represents about 20% of the electorate.  Their political power should reflect this.

The media has never fallen

Submitted by Smartypants on Tue, 10/25/2011 - 10:20am.

The media has never fallen out of love with Obama. The honeymoon and romance may not be what they once were, but the ties that bind remain in that relationship. We will see the collective press take up "arms" against any Republican nominee just as they did against McCain/Palin.

Conservatives always seem to fall for the notion that this time will be different, the media will like me because I'm not like all those other truly evil conservatives. Well, guess what, if you have an "R" after your name and are running against someone with a "D" after their name, the media will not like you. You can present yourself to be just as liberal as the Democrat; they still won't like you. John McCain is a well respected military veteran and he is not a strong conservative by any means. The media still tore him apart. This time the media has even more skin in the game. They know Obama is their candidate; they know they helped elect the guy. They cannot accept failure; and if he is a one term president that is failure in their book. They will do everything in their power to see that does not happen.

"The media can’t possibly be as enthusiastic this time around...

Submitted by Conservator on Tue, 10/25/2011 - 12:32pm.

I agree with Bernie, but I don't believe enthusiasm will be issue when it comes to the leftist MSM. We can already observe what the MSM's progressive agenda is regarding Obama's re-election - it's defensive to protect the president's dismal record. In addition, their coverage of the GOP presidential field indicates the lefty loons have already Declared War on anyone who is right-of-center.

Read today's Washington Post and you will find a number of articles attacking Governor Perry and a few on Herman Cain. Why? It's like the editors got together, looked at who are the top-tier GOP candidates and assailed them without mercy. Romney is the leftist favorite to run against Obama because of his flippant positions on issues like gay marriage, abortion, etc. He's also the one candidate who can't run against Obamacare because he signed Romneycare into law as Governor of Massachusetts.

However, I take comfort reading the desperation found in their bombardment of bias misleading articles. Progressives have been destroying the nation since Teddy Roosevelt. When Obama was elected, I believe they prematurely declared victory over conservatism. Now the nation has witness the complete failure of progressivism which lead to the tremendous victory of the GOP in the 2010 election. While they are on the attack with abhorrent and vile diatribe rants, they reveal a FEAR that next year's election will be even greater across the country for the GOP.

More on Romney and why the left likes him.

Submitted by Conservator on Tue, 10/25/2011 - 1:08pm.

"Republican presidential candidate and former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney remains silent as Gina McCarthy, his “green quarterback” during his days in the Massachusetts Governor’s Mansion, steers President Barack Obama’s Environmental Protection Agency toward new regulations on energy.

McCarthy, Romney’s former environmental adviser, now ranks high within Obama’s EPA and is advocating for the agency to move forward with new regulations, including Utility Maximum Achievable Control Technology, or MACT, mandates. As The Daily Caller has previously reported, the Utility MACT regulations, if finalized and implemented, would force coal-fired power plants to install giant scrubber-like appliances inside smokestacks to capture and cleanse carbon particles before their atmospheric release..."

I'm am beyond grateful that the Organize Wall Street gang is right out in the open in their support for Marxism. Even their hypocritical embrace of Steve Jobs, Ben and Jerry's ice cream, and placing donations they receive in a bank is refreshing.

Same thing with the press. I'd prefer to know where they really stand. Let them be so confident as to take the mask completely off. The last thing I want is for them to go back to the deceit and the pandering and the freaking straw men.

Mom of Murdered Obama Gay Lover Speaks Up
The story about President Barack Obama’s bi-sexual past will not go away. Now, in an exclusive interview with The Globe, Norma Jean Young, the 76-year old mother of the late Trinity United Church of Christ choir director Donald Young, has spoken out and declared that persons trying to protect Obama murdered her son at the height of the 2007 Democratic presidential primary to protect Obama from embarrassing revelations about his homosexual relationship with her son. Donald Young’s bullet-ridden body was found in his Chicago apartment on December 23, 2007, in what appeared to be an assassination-style slaying.
Some facts:
In late May, Wash. DC-based investigative journalist Wayne Madsen had a bombshell revelation about Obama’s membership in a Chicago gay club, Man’s Country. Madsen also reported on Obama’s sexual relationships with other men, including named D.C. politicians and Donald Young, the openly-gay choir-director of the church in Chicago of which Obama was a member for some 20 years — Jeremy Wright’s Trinity United Church of Christ black liberation theology. Obama’s relationship with Young was confirmed by Larry Sinclair, who claims to have had two sex-cocaine trysts with Obama.
There were two other openly gay men in Wright’s church: Larry Bland and Nate Spencer. In late 2007, as Obama began his ascent to be the Democratic Party’s presidential nominee, in a span of 1½ months, all three men “conveniently” died:
• Bland was murdered execution-style on November 17, 2007;
• Young was murdered execution-style on December 24, 2007;
• Spencer reportedly died of septicemia, pneumonia, and HIV on December 26, 2007.
• Death certificates of Bland and Young, http://www.rense.com/general82/cdet.htm
Now, Young’s elderly mother is speaking out about her suspicions that her son was murdered to protect Obama’s reputation and assure his political future as President.

OK.......but I have also read these stories about the murdered supposed gay lovers, irregardless of this poster - so I'm wondering to what degree they are true, or have any provable information. I mean...........over here in Hawaii, we've got the whole Obama background thing going, from him growing up, and his influences here - which do include, by the way, gay sexual activity with his communist mentor.

Actually, there's a lot of undercurrent of other info here with regards to the whole birth certificate issue, as well as the mysterious disappearance of his grandmother............and I'm NOT a loony-tune conspiricy guy - but my little ears perk up when I start hearing about things that just might have a little truth to them, when compared to the story line being delivered by the powers that be.
