Michael Moore Calls For Police To Join Occupy Wall Street Protests Like Egyptian Army Did In Cairo
Michael Moore on Friday called for police departments across the country to join the Occupy Wall Street protests "the same way the Egyptian army joined the people in Freedom Square there in Cairo."
"My appeal to the police is you are us and we are you," Moore said in a web only video published at MSNBC.com. "We’ll even let you beat on a bongo drum" (video follows with transcript and commentary):
MICHAEL MOORE: My last word here out in the hallway just outside of [Lawrence O’Donnell’s] studio is that the police need to join us. In the same way the Egyptian army joined the people in Freedom Square there in Cairo. This is my appeal to the New York Police Department, the police departments all over the country. You are working class people. You’re not paid enough. You have the most dangerous job in the country, and these rich bastards on Wall Street they have ruined your 401(k)s, your pension funds, your future, your children’s future. Money that should be going to having better law enforcement has gone to needless wars in other lands.
So, my appeal to the police is you are us and we are you, and join us. It’s fun. We’ll even let you beat on a bongo drum. That’s my last word. Thank you.
So a man whose estimated net worth is $50 million is not only inciting people all around the country to rise up against some of America's largest corporations, he is now calling on law enforcement officials to join them.
What could go wrong?

Michael Moore and the protestors are correct. Corporations
Submitted by Rush Fan on Sat, 10/15/2011 - 6:08pm.
are BAD! Since their inception, Corporations have been selfish and only looked out for themselves and their shareholders. Corporations have had a negative impact on this country and the lives of it's citizens. Corporations must redistribute their wealth to the rest of us, before they disband and go the way of the Edsel.
I can speak from experience. I've worked for major corporations such as Crucible Steele, GM Hughes Electronics, Raytheon, and Boeing all my adult life.
First, before I outline why Corporations do not contribute to society, I must acknowledge that the Corporations I have worked for gave me the opportunity to put food on the table for my family, and enabled me to purchase nice roofs over my family's head.
I must also acknowledge that the Corporations I have worked for have provided my family and I with terrific healthcare insurance at minimal or no cost, and a 401K plan where they have matched my contributions. I must also acknowledge that the Corporations I have worked for helped me to increase my skill set, enabled me to reach goals I thought I would never achieve, and provided me with job enrichment and satisfaction by acknowledging my contributions to the team and the Corporation.
I must also acknowledge that the Corporations I have worked for have enabled me to send my sons and daughter to college equipped with the laptop computer of their choice. I must also acknowledge that the Corporations I have worked for have enabled our family to afford not just the basics of life, but stuff that has enriched our lives, such as vacations, education and a variety of other entertainment. Finally, I must also acknowledge that the Corporations I have worked for enabled my wife and I to retire for the rest of our lives with sufficent financial comfort.
Now here are the reasons why Corporations do not contribute and are BAD for society. .........................................................................................................................................Oh, NEVER MIND!

When you want to use something for comparison in order to sway others to stand by your side perhaps it would have better to choose a less blood thirsty and ruthless gang of thugs than the Egyptian Army.
Although I suppose that Mr. Moore wouldn't really have an issue with the police beating Christian protesters ....just like the Egyptian Army.

Moore obviously doesn't know anything about the compensation on the NYPD. Not only are they paid extremely well, their pension plans are outstanding.
Check out their webpage. After 5.5 years of service, a patrolman's total pay (not including overtime pay) is over $96,000. And look at their additional benefits.

Egypt? USA? Uh, seriously? Where I see the photo w/this story, and it's a gang of white people dressed in 1960's chic clothing they probably bought at Nordstrom's or Banana Republic or some chic Seattle-natural clothing shop. Come on Mikey, who has the time to take off days from looking for a new job...or to skip a new job....or leave the old job....and have a tent on hand, w/the lights, camping equipment, etc., while living in an urban area like NYC or Chicago or SF....where 'camping' stuff

The new Leader of NYC will be Commish Raymond Kelly sure okay. People will only do what the new army of the US does just like they don't do now or something. Cops marching with a supporter of a cop killers for more money.
They did join them as they are being told too. If they did not they would get the tanks, water canons and tear gas out to clear the park like they would do if the NYPD or any army was in charge.

Are they expecting people to bring the CEO's down in chains and throw them into the street so they can be stoned to death? But wait ... that would mean someone else would have to run it and then the scenario starts all over again.
Or are the CEO's going to look down from their buildings and see people playing bongo drums and have a sudden epiphany and divest themselves of all their wealth and dissolve the company. But the money certainly won't last long and that would leave no one one to tax.
The only way this is a victory for the outraged, shameless and ignorant of this "movement" is if the producers of wealth are thrown into legislative chains and made to work for those that don't.

I do encourage folks not to mask themselves. Tomorrow looks like a 'set piece' with protesters against cops. Please do NOT compete with the cops in looking scary/militant. Push youngest/oldest to the frontlines, keep angry looking males 18-40 away from a confrontation. This is a battle over images, not just over the park. As always, I'll be wearing my 'okay to get arrested in' suit.

LECHNER: "This is a battle over images, not just over the park."
Lechner couldn't have stated it better. Without firmly identified messages or goals, Occupy Wall Street can only hope to provide the MSM with images of thousands of peaceful protesters as a "grass roots" outrage in over a hundred cities and "a thousand countries" (if we can trust Diane Sawyer). The key is to keep the goals and message(s) amorphous. The Democratic Party is modeled similarly, and that's how it keeps disparate and competing special interests groups generally together. Just as free food keeps the OWS in the street day after day, government handouts (or at least promises of handouts) keep the Dems special interest groups together.
It's a provocateurs dream. As weeks drag on and the weather turns colder, it won't take much for instigators (Lechner's 'angry looking males 18-40") to spark a violent confrontation. I hope it doesn't come down to that, but it seems inevitable.
