Bill Maher: Rick Perry 'So Dumb' Republicans Are 'Even Considering Voting for a Black Guy'

For at least the third time this year, HBO's Bill Maher took a racist swipe at Herman Cain.

On Friday's "Real Time," the host said during his New Rule segment that Texas governor Rick Perry "sounded so dumb that now [Republicans are] even considering voting for a black guy" (video follows with transcript and commentary):

BILL MAHER: Now I know they hate it when I say it, but the word for Republicans these days is promiscuous. First they fell in love with Trump because they remembered him from back in the '80s when they were young and happy and their penises worked. But the Donald turned out be a lot like his hair: ridiculous, difficult to control, and not very believable.

So then they switched to Michele Bachmann, but she lacked a certain gravitas, or whatever the Latin word is for brain. And she had some skeletons in her closet like her husband.

So then they dropped her and convinced Rick Perry to run. Oh, yes, finally the conservative they were all looking for, but then something horrible happened: Rick started talking, and he sounded so dumb that now they're even considering voting for a black guy.

This was not the first time Maher used race to go after Cain.

In May he said, "Republicans say they love him so they're not racist - right"

The following month, Maher said of Newt Gingrich, "Let me put your unpopularity in context for you - you're a Republican and you're polling behind a black guy"

Maher sure seems fixated on the color of Cain's skin, doesn't he?

Why are they playing Perry's

Submitted by humanzee on Sat, 10/01/2011 - 11:03am.

Why are they playing Perry's death knells and obsessing over Cain's victory in a straw poll?

Ron Paul has won his fair share of those. Bachmann won one, too.

One issue involving illegal immigrants everyone is writing him off. They are really trying to muffle his fire.

Yeah, the immigration issue is a sticky one, but it's a minor issue when you consider everything else that's going on.  Should he be the nominee, people are going to have to consider, do they want 4 more years of hell or worse with Soetoro who is anti-business, anti-energy(especially with anti-energy secretary Chu), hell, just plain anti-American or do they want Perry who is the opposite of all that, which we need right now?

I'm a bit worried though because that governor Perdue making those comments about suspending elections, don't think Soetoro wouldn't have considered that, and if they LSM is going all out even to the point of calling Cain a racist which is just absolutely INSANE(!!), there isn't any telling what this major enemy of the country will do.(most recently, they want to go after other states that dare consider laws like Arizona and Alabama passed)

jon, see my reply to Dave in the OT.

I agree with you: it's time for conservatives to take a stand on what they think is the most important attribute they're looking for.

If it's Perry's stand on jobs, go for it.  Be willing to say yeah, he's not what we want on immigration, but jobs are more important right now. And stand up for him on those grounds!!

I'm sick of their trying to be all things to all people.

Saw it

Submitted by jon_torlin on Sat, 10/01/2011 - 12:37pm.

I saw it a couple of minutes there after I had hit "save" here but oh well.

I can understand from other people's points of view why they would be hesitant in choosing him and I didn't make it any secret about my support for Perry, I even said it was bias on my part, but that's because of his performance as a governor of Texas.  And if he was so bad, why would Texans vote him in 2 more times after his first term as governor?(rhetorical question, no worries)

I look at it the same way as how Alaskans liked Sarah Palin when she was governor(according to my relatives that live there, they still do) but she's also getting a similar treatment(even if she's not running for potus) of people are either going to like her a lot or they are going to find all kinds of things wrong with her(on the conservative side even, not just the libs) and won't want her anywhere near the WH.  The same is happening to Perry.

I think it's safe to assume that the libs are in a complete freakout mode right now, pulling out all the stops even on people who officially aren't in the running like Christie(his weight of all things childish!), Palin, and then candidates like Perry, Cain, Romney, Bachmann(not as much lately apparently), even Santorum, while the others were virtually ignored, or even praised like Huntsman.  Whatever and whoever the case may be, the LSM must know and even fear that their beloved dictator-in-chief is in danger of losing and losing bad, so much that they will stir the hornet's next more than once at risk to themselves to cause people to react badly to the negatives more than need be, which a lot of us are doing.

If I had to guess, I'd say some of us are playing right into their hands.

What are they.......?

Submitted by ThePickle on Sat, 10/01/2011 - 12:13pm.

I would venture to guess that they are engaged in trying to pull off exactly the same type of BS they managed in 2008 and that is to have a hand in picking the Republican Candidate.

The change in tactic now, is that they absolutely cannot "hand pick" a candidate that they believe that Republicans will get solidly behind.

They have come to realize that there is as strong of a "Anybody But Obama" sentiment know as there was an "Anybody But Bush" sentiment in 08 so every time a Republican Candidate makes a good showing in the polls they focus on said candidate either to denigrate, mock or, like ill behaved monkeys at the zoo, start flinging poo with reckless abandon in the hopes that they can muddy the waters enough that Conservatives will, as they have proven themselves capable and willing to do in the past, split their focus to such a degree that coalescing behind a single Candidate will be next to impossible.

Take as an example 2008 and John McCain. Not only did the Dems hand pick a Candidate they could live with if he won, they also managed to muddy the waters for Repubs so much that many simply "stayed home" rather than vote for a RINO. and viola' we get President Obama.

Before the last presidential election, how many times were Democrats "even considering voting for a black guy?" None.

Did Maher make that comment at that time? Of course not, and it would have been just as dumb then as it is now.

How could he come up with a crack like this if he wasn't a racist?

Maher's joke is based on the stereotype that black people are inferior in intellect to white people. Only a racist can tell a joke like this. Only a racist would find it even remotely funny.

Bill Maher and HBO can go to hell with its racism.

Submitted by killa37 on Sat, 10/01/2011 - 2:56pm.

Donkeyface's point - although he swerved into it - was that HE was so dumb that HE voted for a (psuedo) 'black' guy, and now he has to come up with whatever he can to justify it.

When it comes to common sense, thinking on your feet, speaking coherently, having class, AND being 'black' - Boy Barry couldn't even shine Herman Cain's shoes.

You are not even right when you just sit there and do nothing at all--at least the broken clock gets it right twice a day. There are just too many examples of where you have been wrong, even with a complete research and writing staff. Of course, they probably think Wikipedia is primary sourcing just like you, assuming you still know how to do anything but spill diatribe and falsehoods.

How does this guy manage to

Submitted by dscott on Sat, 10/01/2011 - 3:08pm.

How does this guy manage to keep his job? Even rabid liberals surely have problems with racists? This isn't just some mouth fart blurted out in poor judgment.

IF HBO doesn't fire or at least suspend this dirtbag then they are condoning racism. Where's the FCC? Surely, Maher violated some kind of offensive language regulation?

I think it's time for Cain to call out Maher and his racist colleagues. The final burning of the race card by the Left needs to be performed. Make it radioactive to play and the left will stop injecting race into elections.

Slouching To His End

Submitted by rammingspeed on Sat, 10/01/2011 - 7:48pm.

In Maher's reality these are funny jokes. But in Truth, they are mindless drivel. It was the same when Tina Fey said "I can see Russia from my house!" while mocking Sarah Palin on SNL. A funny line, but it was wholly made up. These bits are the way Maher and Fey believe things are; the way they want and need things to be. Only the utterly dogmatized can't see through this garbage.

Maher is in the drunk-at-closing time stage in his career. Back in his younger days - at the beginning of happy hour - he was fresh and bright and still in control. A sneery elitist  jerk to be sure, but sober and somewhat in control. Now the bartender is wiping the bar in front of him while he babbles incoherently, ready to puke on his shoes. That's what happens to stubbornly arrogant, ignorant people. They are Narcissists by definition; they CAN'T grow up. They just get more frustrated - drunk - because they don't get their stupid way. And they get more stinky and pukey and outrageous while they breathe their last and finally fall off their barstools.

Maher is coming to a bad end, with hatred and frustration burning through his soul. Oops, he's an atheist, so he doesn't have a soul. Or doesn't believe he has a soul. Or whatever. He could not possibly be a happy man, and since what he wants will never be, he'll just flame out and vanish. I wouldn't want to be him.

Simple Math

Submitted by NiftySwell on Sun, 10/02/2011 - 3:05pm.

At this point Cain has my vote, with his mathematics background he is one of the few people who understands the concept of 14 Trillion Dollars. While the average person running around thinks 500 million is making a dent in that sum (like 5 bucks on fourteen thousand dollars) there are only a few out there who grasp the reality of what we are actually doing to our country.  I don't care if he is purple, has two heads, and weighs a ton what I want is someone with a proven record of un-sinking the titanic.  The liberals fascination with the color of someone's skin or their sex is really starting to annoy me that it should be something we even think about when voting for a leader.  They live a twisted, tortured, guilt ridden, miserable life from the obsessive statements they are constantly making IMO.
