Doonesbury Makes Sexist Breast Jokes About Palin and Bachmann
When it comes to debasing conservative women, is there nothing considered off-limits by the liberal media?
Consider Sunday's Doonesbury which joked about the bra sizes of former Alaska governor Sarah Palin and Congresswoman Michele Bachmann:
![]()
In the strip, long-time character B.D. is watching a televised interview with Palin in Iowa. She's asked, "What do you think of Michele Bachmann's early success here?"
In the second to last frame, the faux Palin said, "And did you see me in Newsweek? That article shows that as president, I'd be totally ready if called on to fill a tight sweater."
In the next frame, B.D. thinks to himself, "Good one. Advantage Palin" as her interviewer asked, "Are you saying Bachmann wouldn't?"
The faux Palin responded, "We don't know. The lamestreamers won't get the facts out."
Now imagine for a moment Barack Obama was a Republican, and both Palin and Bachmann were Democrats.
Would Doonesbury creator Garry Trudeau be using cheap boob jokes to mock two prominent liberal women?
Yes, that was rhetorical.

Hillary is too flat chested for bra jokes. He would have to go with BAB jokes, kind of like I do for Moochie.
Personally, I think Palin and Bachmann, along with most of the female staff on Fox News are smoking, but I'm not supposed to say that.

Sometimes a persons attitude,
Submitted by killa37 on Mon, 09/05/2011 - 7:12pm.
Sometimes a persons attitude, or personality, or agenda - can really have a bearing on their actual physical appearance, you know?? I woudn't think too much - one way or the other - about the way Mooooooooooooochelle looks, other than the fact that she's a fashion disaster. But her mindset and her attitude make it really easy for me (and obviously you and millions of others) to mock her appearance, since it just becomes more of a target when coupled with her idiotic mentality and psuedo-regal arrogance and elitism.
As for Barry...............ugh...........this guy gives me the creeps, and he's been doing it ever since I first started noticing him.
I heard some of his rah-rah Labor Day gum-flapping today on the news (hey, I'm WORKING on Labor Day, but I'm self-unemployed, so I have to take it when I get it!!!), and it was just sickening to hear - my radio was too far away to turn it off!!
Same old crap...........we know EXACTLY where he's going with this new round of asking for trillions of dollars in 'stimulus' to 'kickstart the economy and jobs' (just like the last one), and the Republicans NEED to vote for the 'good' of the country instead of the good of their party!!!
I notice that he didn't say that the Democrats need to vote for the 'good' of their country.................but I guess that idea never comes into play.

...of the continuing erosion of Doonesbury's popularity. The higher Palin's star rises, the more desperate the attacks become. The problem for leftists like Trudeau is that if Palin runs for President, they will have little ammunition to use against her, having already dipped into scatology so often that it has lost its effectiveness. My history with Doonesbury closely resembles yours. It suddenly became a complete turnoff about that time.
Even so, I'd take a peak every once in a while to check in on it's continued downward spiral. Then I bumped into this local interview in 2005 - I think it was an independent paper in Santa Barbara (now home to Al Gore), which went under. An excerpt of the Q & A:
Got to protect the "Great Society" era, and President Lyndon Baines Johnson - don't they? Did he forget that it was LBJ's war? I remember a college poll once; something like, "Which president do you associate with the Vietnam War?" Nixon was the name they came up with - not LBJ. More recently, the media has done the same with the policy of rendition. While it was Clinton and Gore who brought it back to life during the 90's, and in spite of the fact that we conducted more renditions prior to 9/11, than after, the broad public has been led to hate Bush/Cheney for it - without any discussion of Clinton/Gore.
On the US deaths in Vietnam. I believe that the actual truth is that approximately. 36,000 American servicemen died in Vietnam during the LBJ escalation of the war. 20,863 died between the time Nixon took over and the end of the war Trudeau is blatantly doing what he does best - lying - hyping up - one side of the truth, while hiding the other side. Just more of what our national media does day in and out in their daily want to promote hatred of one side of the isle.

Not really LBJ`s war
Submitted by NVRAT on Mon, 09/05/2011 - 4:02pm.
It was started by Kennedy in the early 60`s. A good friend of mine was sent there as an Adviser to the So. Vietnam army in Mar of 1961 under Kennedy`s orders. LBJ just inherited it but, the whole Democratic Party was behind it. As soon as it proved to be an expensive adventure that's when they (the DEMS) moved the Social Security Trust Fund to the General Fund so they could pay for a war they had screwed up. When Nixon closed out the war effort and brought the troops home he was still fighting the Democratic controlled congress and, they decided to leave SS in the General Fund to pay for all the social shit that they wanted. They just could not stand to have "ALL" that money laying around and being sustained by 60 workers to 1 recipient when it could be used for other Socialist things. That`s when the Liberal Progressives began to take over of the Democratic Party, Educational System, Judicial System, Voting System and the Republican Party using RINO`s. And that my friends is what has brought to this Crisis we face today. This is just a very quick history lesson and can be proven by doing a little research on the web. Oh, by the way I am not a fan of Doonesbury and never have.

. . . running out the door here -- but, JFK left something like 10,000 troops/advisers -- and LBJ put in another 580,000 troops, or so. From day one, Nixon brought them home (he ought to be a hero to the left) - it wasn't pretty, but he brought them home.

While I despised Nixon during my (somewhat) liberal youth even when I returned from RVN in '71 I was to young to vote in 68, and I passed in 72). I still disliked him for his cynical ending of the war one or two months prior to the election. Even in my present conservative condition and in retrospect I disliked him as President. But the book "Silent Coup" was an eye opener.

The answer is "No."
Submitted by Plumb Bob on Mon, 09/05/2011 - 3:49pm.
The answer to your question is "No, there is nothing off limits." The rules of civility do not apply to the left, because they are the "Good Guys." They can do anything, no matter how vile or dishonest, because they represent Ultimate Good.
It has not occurred to any of them that the mere fact that they are both willing and able to perform vile acts removes them definitively from the category of "Good Guys." They think that "good" has a political definition, and that so long as they vote for the right candidates and advocate the right laws, they have obtained their bona fides as "Good Guys."
This actually explains why they misbehave so much. In their minds, they have already dealt with any proclivity to do wrong -- leaving their very real character flaws both untouched and unnoticed, even, in their thinking, logically impossible. To a leftist, It is simply not possible that they are vicious, bestial, self-righteous prigs completely captive to their character flaws; they're the Good Guys, because they vote for the right measures.

This kind of criticism is ridiculous, and just plain disgusting. And it's just another case of the people on the left using school playground kinds of comments, rather then talking about things like the economy, or any of the other things the President has made a mess of.
