Rich Lowry: Sharpton Will 'Never Be President Because He Can't Read a Teleprompter'
National Review's Rich Lowry took a couple of shots at new MSNBC host Al Sharpton Saturday.
As the panel of "Fox News Watch" discussed the controversial Reverend's new show, Lowry quipped, "We know he’ll never be President of the United States because he can’t read a teleprompter" (video follows with transcribed highlights and commentary):
Of course, that was also a rib at Barack Obama,
But Lowry wasn't done, for he followed it up by saying, "This is a guy, he makes Ed Schultz look like an elder statesman."
Indeed, and the folks at MSNBC including Schultz and Sharpton should all be deeply embarrassed.

I just happened to watch some

I just happened to watch some of that today after many blow outs in football. I can't under stand for the like of me why they keep asking the opinion of that dumbass Alan Colmes. Only thing I can figure is that the signed one hell of contract with Fox years ago so they have to use him on occasion. The man is an idiot.

However MSNBC hiring people without screening what should be a rather important job requirement is rather humorous.

Sharpton is a farce.
Submitted by BoilerFan on Sat, 09/03/2011 - 5:19pm.
I realize that the executives at MSNBC were increasingly feeling the heat from their fellow liberals (white and black, alike) for their "lack of diversity" (in terms of the race/ethnicity of the cable network's featured hosts in or near primetime), but hiring Sharpton was/is a farce. There were plenty of liberal black talking heads that would have been far more viable for that position. Five minutes is about all I can take watching any show on that joke-of-a-network. Two or three minutes seems to be my limit when Reverand Al's ugly, arrogant, race-baiting mug is looking back at me.
Nice subtle two-fer by Rich Lowry, hitting Sharpton and President Zero with one quick, broad-fisted jab. Couldn't help but smile when I learned about Rich's comment. That was just the sort of sharp comment his old boss, the late WFB, Jr., would have made. I'm sure Buckley, from somewhere just beyond the Pearly Gates, is enjoying some fine wine and grinning from ear to ear this afternoon.

USF coach Ship Holtz played there under his father Lou. He knows the history and all. Golden Dome, Touchdown Jesus, Knute and the Gipper. I wonder if Kelly had one of those win one for the Gipper speeches a halftime?

As an SEC alumni and fan for 35+ years, I (almost) always cheer for the SEC. However, since my son just graduated from USF, I have been a fan of theirs for a few years . . . victories over Miami, Auburn, FL State and numerous other "name" teams have been the norm for the past five years or so. All of these wins came on-the-road! A real up-and-coming team to watch . . .

Submitted by ricklail on Sat, 09/03/2011 - 5:58pm.
I tried to get my son in law, he's from Mt. Vernon. IN, to give up on ND. I wanted him to pull for Indiana. Kevin Wilson, the new head coach there, is a former Tarheel. We both grew in the same town and played for the mighty Maiden (NC) HS Blue Devils. He also is a first cousin to my bother in law. Sorry Boiler fan I'll have to pull for the Hoosiers this season against all opponents.
No problemo!!!

Hey, no hard feelings, Rick. I respect your personal ties in that situation. And to tell you the truth, unlike some of my fellow Boiler fans (who never pull for IU in ANY sport), I almost always root for IU, except when they're playing the Boilermakers or if a game they're playing has some sort of bowl implications for Purdue (which we probably aren't going to have to worry about this year).
There are 2 teams in this
Submitted by ricklail on Sat, 09/03/2011 - 7:16pm.
There are 2 teams in this state that will not put for any way, shape or form, DOOK and NC State. I'll pull for ECU, Appalachian St and Wake Forest but no way for those others. ECU until they play the Heels. I live pretty much in the middle of Pirate country.
I survived a nasty storm in Notre Dame stadium.
Submitted by BoilerFan on Sat, 09/03/2011 - 7:05pm.
The most miserable weather conditions I ever experienced in a football game was a Purdue game against Notre Dame (I think it was back in 2006). Brady Quinn and Jeff Samardzija pretty much played "pitch and catch" for the early part of the game, building a three touchdown lead. And then the skies opened up, dumping the hardest rain I've ever sat through. While there was some lightening off in the distance and the rain was truly pouring down, the stadium officials didn't order anybody to leave the stands. But several people (the cowards) gave up and went down into the concourse until it let up. Between the soggy field and large deficit, Purdue never really had a chance to mount a serious comeback; they lost by 14.
To top it off, the car we took to South Bend (belonging to a good friend of mine, an engineer) wouldn't start. Took several hours to get the bloody thing repaired and make it back to Lafayette. A miserable day in many respects. But, hey, I have to admit the Notre Dame campus is extremely impressive. And the setting, stadium, pre- and post-game traditions are truly a sight to see and experience. All true college football fans need to make the journey to ND, if for no other reason than to cross if off of their "bucket list."
Misc. Thoughts...
Submitted by BoilerFan on Sat, 09/03/2011 - 6:27pm.
Thirty seconds of the Rev. Al? Is that all? Good Lord, man, you need to toughen up a bit. :)
To tell you the truth, I'm not surprised at all with the events in South Bend. I'm sure the Fighting Irish probably took South Florida too lightly. The bottom line is that today's Notre Dame isn't the same powerhouse university that used to put the "fear of God" into teams that made the journey to South Bend. There's simply too much parity in college football in the modern era for anybody to take another team lightly, home or away. Speaking of the "fear of God," I have to wonder if Notre Dame fans weren't tickled to death with the arrival of the severe thunderstorm, which might give the Irish a chance to get their act together during the delay. Answered prayers???
Speaking of which, my Boilers barely slipped by that college football powerhouse, Middle Tennessee State earlier this afternoon. Trailed for most of the game, but came back to win it on a touchdown with less than a minute to play...and preserved the win by blocking a MTS field goal attempt on the final play.
BTW...I really like the Thomas Sowell quote. He's definitely my favorite author. I've devoured more than a dozen of Sowell's books. He's a true genius. I still believe "A Conflict of Visions" is the most original book on political philosophy that I've read in decades, with Jonah Goldberg's "Liberal Fascism" a close second.

I'm not convinced he can READ!
I still say that MSNBC should classify Da Rev as a comedy show. They would definitely win an Emmy. It is the best comedy since the Amos and Andy Show, and Da Rev is much more devious than Kingfish ever was.
Do you think that the writers are writing "dis, dat, dees, doze, dem, duh, day, etc" in the script, or do Rev jus renounce'em dat way?
it's a shame the Cosby bought all the footage for that show.

At the DNC conventions Al was giving his sermon/speech and the reporter who has a rope line interview after he was done asked how he could continue with no notes for 20 minutes after the teleprompter broke and never came back on. Can't remember the answer but that was just what Al does. He can talk for hours on everything as long as there is not one specific topic and well researched focused grouped talking points that he has to hit every few minutes. Which are feed into the Teleprompter right from Center for American progress, the DNC, and the WH.
Most people who talk in public with monologues for a living such as Rush, Glenn, Levin and Al don't need a well prepare script. When they are on scripts and try hard to stay to them "resist we much" is the outcome. When they do have a script most just get tossed and the whole thing is ad libbed but then they might miss the required talking points with are a requirement at MSNBC so resist we much.
Obama Isn't All that Great at Reading the Teleprompter.

His head bounces back and forth in a boring metronome fashion. Sometimes he flubs like Al as when he pronounced Marine Corpse-men.
So not all hope is lost for Sharpton. He can't be disqualified on purely teleprompter grounds.
I don't think that's the reason

Not being able to read a teleprompter is not the reason Rev. Marcel Sharpyton will not be president.

would expect him to know reading comprehension? The left thinks that is racism in itself. To act dumb and black is the cool thing, not the old adage "knowledge is power." Black leaders want to sound intelligent but not actually have intelligence. I dealt with that crapola every day of my life and still do. Because of moronic black leaders like Sharpton I have to carry the burden of being an idiot too! Thank God for people like Alan West and Condi Rice who actually ARE intelligent.
Thanks for such "progressive" behavior libs!!! Keep up the good work and before you know it the Geico caveman commercials will be more than a punchline. We'll be living in caves and eating roots, oh wait, that's what the libs want too;)
