Krauthammer: Obama Is 'President Zero - Zero Economic Expansion, Zero Jobs, Zero Ideas'

By Noel Sheppard | September 03, 2011 | 12:55

Charles Krauthammer on Fox News's "Special Report" Friday offered Republicans a 2012 campaign slogan to defeat Barack Obama.

"President Zero: zero economic expansion, zero jobs, zero ideas on how to cure the economy" (video follows with transcript and commentary):

CHARLES KRAUTHAMMER, SYNDICATED COLUMNIST: That assumes the speech he thinks will turn the economy around. This is not that speech. This is to frame the debate for his reelection. This is not a serious jobs proposal. It will include things he knows Republicans will reject. And thus he sets up the premise, because his own White House has now said we are going to be nine percent up employment next year as well. The premise will be we are at nine percent on election date because the obstinate Republicans who care only about reelection and not about the country have rejected the great ideas he is proposing.

Look, I think the Republicans have their perfect slogan - President Zero: zero economic expansion, zero jobs, zero ideas on how to cure the economy. The recession ended two years ago. We were supposed to have a recovery summer last summer. In the numbers you showed, the unemployment, the slowdown in jobs started at the beginning of this year. He threw $1 trillion dollar stimulus at the economy assuming you'd have a Keynesian effect, a multiplier effect. It didn't.

And at the same time he piled up regulation on regulation, spending on spending, Obamacare, EPA, the financial regulations. He has his foot on the economy. And he doesn't understand that his administration has stopped the recovery in its tracks.

Yes, but Obama still has all of his devoted fans in the media.

So he's got that going for him - which is nice.

We have been referring to him

Submitted by ricklail on Sat, 09/03/2011 - 12:59pm.

We have been referring to him here and elsewhere as Zero for a long time. The Hammer is just now finding this out?

Look at this way . . . .

Submitted by Bourbeau on Sat, 09/03/2011 - 1:25pm.

You may have been using it around your circles for a long time, but nothing was more inspiring then hearing Charles deadpan it last night, particularly with the zero jobs report - it was absolutely perfect! Now, if only the GOP contenders can utilize it to their benefit.

for quite a long time. I am keeping my fingers crossed they don't use it to shoot themselves in the foot.

I sure like Krauthammer. His deadpan spot-on delivery is such a pleasant contrast to the hyperbolic hollering you see so often.

those that can,do..those that can't, give speeches

Submitted by MidAmerica on Sat, 09/03/2011 - 1:50pm.

I believe obama thinks he can again work his magic with a speech before cheering congressional dems and that will galvanize the nation to demand that congress pass obama's proposals.

Just one major flaw to this scenario.... probably few people from main street will watch the speech.  That will leave it up to the sycophantic media to follow up with days of hyped up reports on the brilliance of obama's plan.

Watching paint dry is more interesting than Zero's speeches.

Submitted by drsamherman on Sat, 09/03/2011 - 1:59pm.

His scripts are so predictable. Starts with blaming Bush, complains about congress and ends with blaming everything else. Sometimes the order of the three is subject to negotiation, but all three elements are there whenever he speaks on anything from the Middle East to ordering dinner.

Not to mention his incredibly boring, sing-song delivery.

Submitted by KyWriter on Sat, 09/03/2011 - 2:17pm.

Of course, he thinks it is professorial and if hoi polloi cannot appreciate it, it's because they are incapable of higher thought. I believe now there is a circle in Hell where Obama would hold forth for eternity, although offhand I can't think of a crime so heinous that it would warrant such a punishment.

Not just listening

Submitted by jon_torlin on Sat, 09/03/2011 - 2:41pm.

Do you realize what the last three years have shown us when it comes to Soetoro doing his speeches, even his smallest ones(3 minutes to introduce "economic expert") to children in a classroom?

When he comes on TV(thank God it's less and less these days, but not soon enough), we as an audience should we decide to continue, are watching him read!  Nevermind the so-called townhall meetings he's done and the few times he's spoken off the cuff, but in general, head swiveling back in forth tennis style or where a single screen is directly under the camera and his eyes moving, he's just reading out loud.  That's worse than listening to him!

That's all it amounts to!  It's pathetic when you think about it.

Hardly the great communicator that Reagan was, which was one of the lame-ass comparisons done recently.  And when he's reading, there's no emotion on his face, none, zip, NADA like a damned animatronic!  You could put one there and it would amount to the same damn thing.

Pathetic!

Obama and his groomers couldn't be happier, as he has succeeded beyond his wildest dreams in bringing this nation to it's economic and financial knees.

I got the point also, and the Hammer has come around pretty good within the past couple of years, although he was a little late off the starting blocks with regard to Barack the Destroyer. But I still have to believe that Boy Barry has got to be pretty pleased with the direction the country has gone under his REGIME.................I think this is all by design - although it's almost unimaginable that someone would want what he wants............this is one main reason why I have no respect for the Dems that 'get his back', and, of course, the MSM..............who are complicit and just as guilty as Obama (and his handlers) is in orchestrating this whole scam, and the disasterous results that we now face because of it.

We Know What He Isn't Do We Know What Obama Is

Submitted by Avitar on Sat, 09/03/2011 - 3:06pm.

There has been a lot of name calling but whatever put Obama in the Whitehouse has not gone away. There is the $170 million dollars that somebody directed from a foundation to a minor "community organizer" to improve education in Chicago. Of course education was not improved and the money was converted in to political patronage but $170 million is not minor league money and that happened before Mr. Obama served in the Illinois State legislature.

The scope of what has happened should not be overlooked in the light of this man being a buffoon. How could a buffoon who did not know that the German Benz invented the automobile win the Presidency? How did John McCain one of the five worse Republican Senators get the Republican Nomination so that he could be beaten? The five million dollars that friends of Clintons spent in 1995 getting Bob Dole the nomination we understand but who was behind getting a Senator of personal character but completely inept politics the nomination this time? If we do not answer these questions we will wind up with Romney as a nominee who makes us wish we had a Dick Nixon for President.

Zero is Good

Submitted by Chris Norman on Sun, 09/04/2011 - 12:24am.

I'm very glad that President 0 has "zero ideas on how to cure the economy" - it's his and the congressional Democrats bright "ideas" that have done so much damage in the last few years. Doing absolutely nothing would be much better than anything they can devise. As it is, their "ideas" on how to "fix" health care will be a huge drag on the country forever unless it is repealed. So, please, President 0 - no more "ideas" until you exit the White House in a year and a half.

After reading Krauthammer's comment the thought occurred to me that someone needs to write and perhaps animate a parody of the old Schoolhouse Rock song/video "My Hero, Zero". If animated, perhaps talking heads from MSNBC such as Chris "Tingles the Clown" Matthews and Al Not-So-Sharptoon can be spoofed as being the chief singers.

Yes it took two years to undo the harm Carter the Kook did to this country. You neglected to include that from 1982 onward the rate dropped and remained below 6 % until your hero Obabble took over. He put us on a downhill crash and it will take a conservative years to straighten out the mess he has put us in.
