Tweet Read on 'Meet the Press': 'We're Angry at Obama, But We're Not So Angry That We Would Vote Republican'

By Noel Sheppard | August 21, 2011 | 17:23

Savannah Guthrie actually did a pretty good job filling in for David Gregory on "Meet the Press" Sunday.

Unfortunately, her biases came out near the end of the program when she chose to read a viewer's tweet that was quite hostile to Republicans (video follows with transcript and commentary):

SAVANNAH GUTHRIE, HOST: And finally, from Twitter, someone writes into “Meet the Press”: “What's our alternative? A republican? We're angry at Obama, but we're not so angry that we would vote [Laughs] repub.”

Please notice that Guthrie actually laughed as she was finishing the tweet. Nice bedside manner, huh?

For those that were wondering, this was a real tweet from a real Twitter account:

Please notice that Ms. Stelzer was actually replying to a tweet from the folks at "Meet the Press":

Imagine for a moment Ms. Stelzer's response was, "We're angry at Republicans, but we're not so angry that we'd vote for Obama again."

Do you think Guthrie would have read that on the air?

No, I don't either.

But it's true

It's just too true that Obama may be a loser, but he's THEIR loser.

Yes, that tweeter nailed it!

Submitted by motherbelt on Sun, 08/21/2011 - 5:38pm.

This is how Republicans lose. Some get ticked off over whoever is chosen for the nominee, and stay home, or maybe vote third party if that's available. (Can you say Donald Trump?)
Democrats never do. No matter what, come November 2012, they will all hold their noses to vote for Obama.
Remember when Bill Clinton angered the black community with welfare reform? Jesse Jackson came out and pretty much said yeah, he's abused us, but what are we going to do, vote Republican?

The twit was just stating the obvious.

Of course, I have to admit I'd even vote for John McCain before I'd vote for a racist, marxist, worshipper of a deadbeat father.

And that's the challenge

Submitted by Galvanic on Sun, 08/21/2011 - 6:02pm.

The Democrats will even sponsor the candidacies of conseravtive third party candidates if it will split the GOP vote and bring victory to the Dem candidate.

It pays to remember that the as Obama's approval numbers sink in the polls, a good portion of the disenchanted include the Far Left types like Maureen Dowd, the Congressional Black Caucus, the labor unions, etc. But when it comes to voting for Obama or any Republican, they will vote for Obama.

however...

Submitted by MidAmerica on Sun, 08/21/2011 - 7:39pm.

Let's not forget what Reagan accomplished with the Reagan Democrats.  He won over many democrats who turned their backs on their President and voted Republican.

Most voters will be going to vote for themselves at the polling booth.  They will vote for whoever seems to be able help their own personal lives the most.   obama has a record now.  All the challenger has to do is present a better alternative.  That's what Reagan did.  That's how obama was elected in 2008.  The dems will try to tear down the Republican but their mission is really daunting because they have to tear down the Republican to be below obama's dismal approval ratings.  obama's campaign is 'Yeah I'm not all that good but the other guy is worse'.  If they cannot utterly destroy the Republican that candidate will still appear to be a better choice than four more years of obama.

A corpse could do a good job filling in for David Gregory.

Submitted by drsamherman on Sun, 08/21/2011 - 5:52pm.

He has turned the show into such a farce of what it was when Tim Russert was at the helm. Gregory's infinite capacity to preach like a third-rate firebrand, combined with his lack of tact and obnoxious, patronizing and blatantly partisan tone make the show unwatchable.

So, just stay home on election day. That works. Those of us who never thought s**t of Obama to begin with will do the voting.

At least the drying paint serves a purpose without some political bias. It just dries without commenting on how it was made or trying to say blue is discrimination against green.

CIA files and were a crack addict, these clueless boobs would still vote for him, especially black voters. They just don't get it and never will. The disapproval stats on Obama (or Carter back in 1980) never surprise me. What does absolutely shock me is when someone still approves of someone who's a proven failure. That's the real news. It's morons like that who enable crooked used car dealers and con artists to make a living.

Wrong

Submitted by jon_torlin on Sun, 08/21/2011 - 7:21pm.

The black voters were the ones that made it a race issue, thus racist. While calling them "black voters" is a "tad racist" in your terms, their voting for a (non)African American was VERY racist.

These people(the lefties, the black voters in general, etc) are so screwed up that they would throw their own family to the alligators and crocodiles before voting Republican.  That's their liberal mindset.  We saw it in Maxine Waters and others.

I call this "dangerous idiocy on display."

I wasn't making a joke about anything. I meant every word I said.  If you read my profile, I'm a no-nonsense kind of guy and I was talking about the nonsense that are the lefties.

The real joke is on those Americans who voted for him thinking he really will do all these wonderful things like heal the world, hope and change, and other forms of balderdash.

between 96% and 97% of African Americans who voted, voted for Obama. They also showed that between 44% and 45% of Caucasians voted for Obama. The figure for African Americans is what's "racist" and a heck of a lot more than a "tad".

Are you saying it's racist because an overwhelming majority

Submitted by Jer on Mon, 08/22/2011 - 4:22am.

of blacks voted for Obama, and likewise racist because blacks have also supported white Democratic candidates in great numbers for the past fifty years or so? Or is the latter phenomenon based on the patronization of African-Americans who are allegedly too ignorant to realize they are being exploited by the Democrats [a claim I frequently encounter here]?

If I understand you correctly, the 95-96% of blacks who voted for Obama are ipso facto racists, while the 94% who voted for LBJ were...what, exactly?

By the way, the GOP has typically been more successful at mobilizing their voters while benefiting from lower turnouts than have the Dems. I'm not sure whether or not that still holds true in the more recent elections. At least it may not be as consistently the case as it was in the past, but I haven't seen the statistics.

It's no claim

Submitted by jon_torlin on Mon, 08/22/2011 - 7:55am.

Jer, the statement you said about the african americans being exploited by dems as a "claim" was just recently proven correct if you missed it.

Maxine Waters herself acknowledged that claim in her statements when she was talking about "unleash us" and the other rot she was saying that day.  Here's one source for you to look at.  Maxin Waters and there are some youtube videos of her saying those things, do a search on the CBC, that's the Congressional Black Caucus that was in Detroit for a *snicker* jobs tour event.  I snicker because that's what they call it, a jobs tour event.  Most of those people were still looking for the "stash."

That alone should prove to you that the claim of exploitation is accurate.  To use Waters' identifier, it's one of "them" who's saying that.

As for the vote for LBJ, it's just the beginning of the trend of african americans voting for Dems which carries on to this day.  The vote for Soetoro IS a racist vote and the whites who voted for him either did so because "wanting to elect the first African American(SIC) for president" or it was white guilt.   That's all it was.  And both things are wrong.  There's nothing American about him.

Why else would Allen West make his statements of wanting to lead the blacks off the plantation?  Those were his words coincidentally.

Riot By Vote

Submitted by cayenne523 on Sun, 08/21/2011 - 7:31pm.

What the dysfunctional left is actually saying is "we will vote for Obama to make this country worse in order to get even with the wealthy." Bring back the poll tax and have a literacy test. Make it the law of the land that one must have a valid ID to vote. Let's see how well the left does at the polls with those standards.

NBC???

Submitted by pbthinker on Sun, 08/21/2011 - 10:47pm.

Are they still a "news" outlet? Somehow I thought they were nothing more than the propaganda arm for the Obama Administration and the DNC. Relax y'all, it's not going to get any better between now and November 2012. Actually, I expect it to get worse. Besides trying to trash every Republican except for Huntsman, you can expect that, once the nominee is settled, an all-out assault on them.

That's why I really hope it's Sarah Palin. There is nothing the LSM can do to her that they haven't done already. There is no lie they can tell that anyone will believe. They've done so much damage to themselves that, when it comes to Palin, they have no credibility. About the only way they could really trash her would be to support her.

Vote Republican - Then you'll only be called a racist one more time.

Meet the Press - Gibbs Gets His Ass Kicked

Submitted by Motormouth KOS on Mon, 08/22/2011 - 11:05am.

Quite honestly, even though Ms. Guthrie dumped that one tweet at the end, she beat Gibbs like a rented mule.  If that interview had been done by Monkey-Boy Gregory, you would have needed a crowbar to pry his head out of Gibb's huge ass.

Gibbs trotted out the usual excuses, Tea Party, tsunami, etc. but she asked him what they did for the 2+ years they had a filibuster proof majority.  No answer of course.

The RNC ought to start making up the bumper stickers now:

She used to be on Morning Joe a lot, then she co-hosted The Daily Rundown with Chuck Todd, now she's guest hosting Meet the Press? Good for her!

And it seems like NBC is *finally* figuring out the hyper partisanship is a turn off to the people who don't tune in for their evening shows!
