Ed Schultz Edits Rick Perry to Falsely Accuse Him of Making Racist Remark About Obama
For months, NewsBusters has been warning readers that America's media are going to do everything in their power to label all contenders to Barack Obama racist.
On Monday's "The Ed Show," the host edited Rick Perry - in mid-sentence, mind you! - to falsely accuse the Texas governor of making a racist remark about America's first black president (video follows with partial transcript and commentary):
ED SCHULTZ, HOST: Perry just inferred President Obama is not in love with the United States of America?
Yes, he really said "inferred" rather than "implied." He actually did it twice Monday evening.
This is the caliber of "journalist" that gets his own show on MSNBC. But I digress:
SCHULTZ: You know, folks, this is the same garbage with heard from Sarah Palin and all these Tea Party attack artists in this country. I think there`s an element of racism every time people claim the first black president doesn't love this country.
Perry comes from the radical country club that loves to remind white America President Obama is other, not like you.
Perry also wants you to know that he's pro-business.
(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)
PERRY: I'm a pro-business governor. I don`t make any apologies about it, and I will be a pro-business president. Getting America back to work is the most important issue that faces this country, being able to pay off $14.5 trillion or $16 trillion worth of debt. That big black cloud that hangs over America.
(END VIDEO CLIP)
SCHULTZ: That black cloud Perry is talking about is President Barack Obama.
Actually, no.
If you look closely at that video, you'll notice that the sound ends after Perry says, "That big black cloud that hangs over America," but he's still speaking.
Want to know what he said that Schultz and MSNBC intentionally cut out?
"That big black cloud that hangs over America, that debt that is so monstrous."
Perry wasn't suggesting, implying, or "inferring" that the "big black cloud that hangs over America" is President Obama.
He clearly - both before the phrase "big black cloud" and after - said he was speaking about America's debt.
Yet Schultz and his staff edited Perry in mid-sentence to make it appear the Texas governor was making a racist remark about Obama.
In any other industry in this nation, such intentionally dishonest and misleading behavior would be met with the harshest of consequences.
Why is this standard operating procedure at MSNBC?

Sargent Schultz, racist
Submitted by wingnut55 on Tue, 08/16/2011 - 6:52pm.
It seems that the Sargent is the racist, he is the one that keeps reminding us that the President is Black. He is the one who sees racism in these statements. His comments seem to tells us more about himself than the people he is trying to undermine.

..of course you can't say "black" without being a racist! Just as you can't criticize the current administration without being racist. Hell, you can't make ANY disparaging remark about the President and his record without being racist. Because if you don't fully support this President, and all of his policies, then by the current definition of racist, you are one. A true racist hasn't always been easy to spot...now you just have to ask if they're a Republican.

He must have been chewing the Twinkies too hard when a teacher in third grade (Ed calls that "senior year") told the class about inference versus implication. "I imply - you infer".
I am implying Ed is moron. He can feel free to infer that he is a moron.

Ed just cannot believe his good fortune still exists; where, he can stumble-f*** through his show and, in a fit of rage, take over the editing of his latest piece on the love affair he suddenly has with GOP candidate Rick Perry. I mean, c'mon; Ed can't even line up his video with the correct piece anymore; his report on the storms in the East was befuddled when he mistakenly had Rick Perry's voiceover for the weather report messed up with his glowing piece of love for Rick to come soon after.

This is an example of what you get from this joke of a cable station. Ownership of the dishonesty of the employees should fall on the shoulders of Phil Griffin, their boss. Then again, they are merely followingh his lead. Get used to it folks, this is only the beginning of the dirty tricks the lib media will play until November 2012.

Submitted by OxyCon on Tue, 08/16/2011 - 8:18pm.
Leftist Bloggers and the Media have been using racial attacks on all of Obama's opponents for over three years and it's gotten to the point where if you are against Obama, you are a racist and the entire Republican party is made up of old White racist people.
As a direct result of this, there are now incidents of large Black youth mobs all across the country seeking out vulnerable looking White people to beat unconscious. Make no doubt about it, these race riots are the poisonous fruit of the Leftist bloggers and media demonizing good, decent people for political gain. They have poisoned the minds of these Black youths into thinking that White people are racists and their enemies.
If we only had a free press.
Submitted by pbthinker on Tue, 08/16/2011 - 9:29pm.
In a country, that had a free press, Schultz would be fired for doing what he did. If we had a free press, CNN, CBS, ABC, NPR, all the usual subjects, would be doing stories about, not the unfair edit, there was not a word changed, moved, distorted or anything done with an edit, it was intentionally stopping the tape and inserting his own words for what followed that Schultz should be fired for. He he allowed the sentence to continue no one would have come up with what Schultz did. In fact, I'd bet, if you played that in a room of 100 black people, non of them would believe it was a racist remark against Obama so, no, I don't agree it was editing it was lying about what was said.
The beauty is the tape is out there now and MSNBC, in a fair world, will have to defend it, have Schultz defend it, or fire the SOB. Either way, some action should be taken by someone. If the LSM doesn't do it, the combination of Talk Radio, Fox News, the Internet, and the Conservative press should bring pressure to bear on MSNBC until they correct the record and I would, if I had a choice, force them to do it on the Nightly News with Brian Williams and not on MSNBC when no one will see it.
Of course that's the next question, if it was on Schultz's show who saw it that could be swayed by it?
I think there's an element of racism
Submitted by CobraMan on Tue, 08/16/2011 - 9:56pm.
I think there's an element of racism involved every time someone feels the need to mention Obama's race. Obama's the "first black American President." So what? P. B. S. Pinchback was the first black American Governor, and that was way back in 1872, which is the same year that the first Black Vice Presidential candidate appeared in history (Frederick Douglass), but we don't mention that every time a Governor is mentioned, or the VP speaks, do we? No, the only ones who cares that Obama is a black man are the one who use Obama's race as a a means to attack their political opponents. That's makes the liberals the biggest racists on tv.

Sgt. Schultz Lardous-laxativius
Submitted by Hausmaus on Tue, 08/16/2011 - 9:56pm.
My doctor told me to watch the Ed Schultz show on MSNBC for at least 2 minutes for two days prior to undergoing a colonoscopy. I was supprised that Dr. Thomason had not prescribed me any laxatives or put me on a restritive liquid diet prior to the procedure. Well, the first day I tuned to the MSNBC channel, and watch the Ed Schultz, the first twenty seconds into the show I developed the most horrific urge to defecate I had in my life, my eye balls turned side ways on my head, my temperature rose to 125 degrees , and my skin turned purple-orange. I just couldn't watch that lard faced man for more than one and half minutes before I experienced the same horrific symptoms. The next day I called Dr. Thomason, and told him about the experience. He told me not to miss the Ed Schultz show that night, and the horrific experience I suffer watching Schultz was normal. For the last twenty four hours I had not consumed anything solid, and the thought of another night without food was stressing me to the hilt. The second time I watched the Ed Schultz show on MSNBC my insides crawled out of my rectum, I literally had my spleen hanging out of my rear-end. I understood why Dr. Thomason told me to watch the Ed Schultz show on MSNBC, my doctor had found the ultimate laxative but one that not only cleaned your lower tract, but left half of your viceras hanging out to dry
