NYT's Blow: Every Time Bachmann Said 'As President of the United States' Thursday 'I Blacked Out'

By Noel Sheppard | August 13, 2011 | 11:42

A  A
Noel Sheppard's picture

"I must confess that every time Representative Michele Bachmann uttered the phrase 'as president of the United States' during Thursday's Republican presidential debate I blacked out a little bit, so I'm sure that I missed some things."

So actually began a piece by New York Times columnist Charles Blow Saturday:

But one thing that I didn't miss was the moment when all the candidates raised their hands, confirming that they felt so strongly about not raising taxes that they would all walk away from a hypothetical deficit-reduction deal that was as extreme as 10 parts spending cuts to one part tax increases.

That moment should tell every voter in America everything about this current crop of Know-Nothings -- no person who would take such a stance is fit to be president of the United States or any developed country.

Really? Doesn't that make Barack Obama unfit as president?

The first bill passed under his new administration was the stimulus plan. Not one House Republican voted for it.

Did that represent compromise?

Two months later, his 2010 budget passed without one Republican voting for it in either the House or the Senate.

Did that represent compromise?

Seven months after that, his healthcare reform bill passed - on Christmas Eve, mind you! - with only one Republican vote of "Aye."

Did that represent compromise?

The reality is that prior to the Republican victory in November 2010, Barack Obama's entire agenda was largely enacted with the exclusive support of Democrats. There was no grand compromise in this current president until last December's budget agreement.

Such intransigence didn't bother folks like Blow when it was their agenda being forced down the throats of the American people with little to no bipartisan support.

Quite the contrary, the typical complaint from the Left has been that Obama wasn't forceful enough on imposing their wishes on the citizenry irrespective of conservative opinion.

Now that Republicans are finally showing some backbone, people like Blow and his dishonest colleagues are crying foul.

This is of course not surprising, for compromise to a liberal means a conservative giving in to Democrat demands.

Such is never tolerated when it's going the other way.

Primaries breed ideology. The media are either ignorant or duplicitous to pretend otherwise.

Just another NY Times Charles ' blow ' job for Obama. Sad really when a key reporter ( he even goes on Morning Joe ) for the self proclaimed ' Greatest Left Wing Rag On The Entire Plant ' only can come up with something as pathtic and unworthy as this.

It's got to be Obama syndrome at work whereby everything Barack touches, or merely influences immediately turns to _____.

Hopefully the " real " American people discover the antidote among the Republican primary field so they can apply him/her next November before it's too late for America to recover.

Like their messiah Obama has done a great job? Obama is the worst and most un-American "President" we've ever had. Yet these mutants at the NYTs STILL love him.

Obama is a loser Marxist. That's not what America is about and the NYTs supports him. Speaks volumes about the state of mind of the editors of that idiotic rag. Those people have severe mental disorders.

So NYT reporters suffer constant blackouts?

Submitted by Slyrr on Sat, 08/13/2011 - 2:00pm.

So - the writers/reporters at the NYT suffer from constant blackouts, do they? Well that explains the shoddy nature of their work. Maybe if they spent more time awake and reporting the truth, and less time keeled over in the gutter fantasizing about another season of "The West Wing", they might actually have some readers (besides the watchdogs at Newsbusters that is).

If a Liberal/Democrat politician/media figure wants to put their arms around you, or pat you on the back, all they're doing is looking for a good place to stick a knife.

NYT is infamous for "blacking

Submitted by jdhawk on Sat, 08/13/2011 - 4:00pm.

NYT is infamous for "blacking out." They "blacked out" when their star reporter in Moscow, William Duranty, wrote a series of articles about how lovely things were in the Soviet Union in the 1930's when the reality was quite the opposite. The people were being systematically starved to death by the murdering thug dictator, Joseph Stalin. Duranty won a Pulitzer Prize for his reporting.

This was what passed for Pulitzer Prize winning journalism of the day, to quote Duranty, ""Any report of a famine in Russia is today an exaggeration or malignant propaganda."

The Nation magazine, a socialist screed to this day, wrote in defense of Duranty's reporting, ""the most enlightened, dispassionate dispatches from a great nation in the making which appeared in any newspaper in the world."

The Pulitzer Prize award to Duranty still stands to this day.

The dems would offer $10 cut for each $1 in tax added? (of course, I never will understand why you need higher tax rates IF you are cutting spending, but I went to school before the "new math.")

So we compromise.  We'll say let's just cut spending this time $9 for every tax we don't raise!  That way the dumbocraps get to keep an extra dollar just like they would have gotten raising taxes.

I've just read from a speech that Boy Blah-Blah made last night (?) at some private dinner party of like-minded liberals, commies, socialists, and elitists............and he, in essence, has compared himself to Martin Luther King, in that King was also villified and misunderstood and attacked, and whatever other adjectives he used - kind of like the way Barama is these days!!!

Well, Barry Soetoro Barack Hussein Obama..............for starters, you AREN'T an America 'black' with ANY history of the American 'black' experience - regardless of whether your parents met in Selma or your great aunt rode it the front of the bus or whatever other bunk you like to spew about................and for seconds, I'd venture a very safe bet that MLK would probably take you to the woodshed about your views, your attitude, your misconceptions, and your agenda.............and it WOULDN'T be a pretty sight, either!!!

PS - I'll bet that he was really whistling his 's's' during this speech!!! Did anyone hear the audio from the other night at a Ramadamn dinner, where Sorostoro was talking about the long history of Moooooooooooooslems in our county, and all of the poor Moooooooooooooslems that were killed during the 9/11 attacks??? At least three things wrong with your 'brilliant' analysis. ACA

Submitted by acaiguana on Sun, 08/14/2011 - 6:03am.

I count at least three things wrong with your analysis.

1.  You assume that Obama can win an election for dog catcher in a town of cats.

2.  You think that Bachmann is some kind of nut?  Or do you just don't like the idea that a Conservative with principles has any appeal to the electorate?  I disagree.  I think that Bachmann is much preferable to any establishment Republican such as Romney who is widely thought to be the adult in the room.  Bachmann has flubbed a few times; probably less in her lifetime than Biden or Obama do on any given day.

3.  What's so wrong with 'far right'?  Wasn't it the 'far right' that gave us Ronnie Reagan?  Do you have a clue how Reagan was portrayed in the MSM during his terms?  Have you no idea as  to the MSM's meme on any Republican that stands on a principle rather than mouths platitudes to the  masses and caters to the basest and vilest parts of people for votes?  For example; any Democrat that runs for Public Office.

Let me give you my take on your analysis.  It is not only wrong but also denies the fervent desire of the American people for a leader who has principle; who doesn't treat the people as pawns and idiots; who doesn't misrepresent every issue with false facts and false logical conclusion or personal attacks; and who doesn't call ramming an agenda down people's throats in spite of their petitions to the contrary; some fundamental law of change that we will love once they pass it and we can read it.

So, in a nutshell, your analysis lacks depth of perception; shows a distaste of principle and an aversion to offending someone because of one's religion or one's stand against the establishment.

The establishment Republicans will not pick our candidate this time around.  We've been there and done that too many times.

Romney would do the world a favor by dropping out.

Now run along down to Iowa and place your vote in the straw poll----------what's that you say? It was last night? Bachmann already won it? Speaking of nutshells.
1-I assume nothing about Obama winning a 2nd term. Where did I say that? In your head?
2-Executive Experience----------cried about that leading up to O'bama's first term, and that lack of experience has been proven a huge negative during his presidency. It's not a joke, and I hope anyone considering Bachmann an electable candidate turn elsewhere and get serious.
3-Reagan was never considered far-right. W Bush was considered far right, and look where that got us? I lived through the Reagan years, so yeah I know how he was portrayed by the media "MSM"-----------you know mainstream is one word?
4-Do you have anything positive to say about Bachmann?

Try rethinking your spiel above.

Submitted by acaiguana on Sun, 08/14/2011 - 10:27am.

"I don't think she could beat Jimmy Carter if he jumped in to challenge O'bama."

This would be a statement that 1) assumes Bachmann could not beat Carter but that Carter could beat Obama or not.  But at any rate, throwing out Carter and substituting Obama would imply that Obama would win against Bachmann.

So, your logical fallacy here is that Obama could win an election as Dogcatcher in a town full of cats.

QED

And in case you are so ignorant of usage on this site and throughout the media world; MSM is the abbreviation for Mainstream Media.

I can't help you.

Do you have anything positive to say about Bachmann? Why do you think she should be president? What does she bring to the table? I don't need your help, I don't want your help, and I didn't ask for your help. In an imaginary world where Bachmann is president, we will all pray for help.
