Far-Left Nation Magazine Editor Gets MSNBC Show

If you thought Comcast buying into NBC was going to change the overtly liberal bias at the network's news divisions, think again.

On Monday, MSNBC announced that Christopher Hayes, the Washington editor of the far-left magazine The Nation, will be getting his own show in September:

MSNBC contributor Chris Hayes has been added to the network’s weekend lineup as the host of a new weekend morning show. The program, with a focus on politics, will be live on Saturdays from 7:00 – 9:00 a.m. ET and Sundays from 8:00 – 10:00 a.m. ET starting September 17. The announcement was made today by MSNBC President Phil Griffin. Hayes, a frequent substitute host for “The Rachel Maddow Show” and “The Last Word with Lawrence O’Donnell,” will continue as an MSNBC contributor and will remain part of The Nation as Editor-at-Large.

“Chris is a thoughtful analyst and one of the smartest journalists out there,” said Griffin. “As we head into election season, there is no better time to amp up our weekend political coverage.”

For those unfamiliar with this disgraceful publication, in its television ad campaign, it proudly admits to possessing "that famous liberal media bias you can't find anywhere else":

So much for MSNBC possibly moving to the center.

As a humorous aside, Hayes was the person on Bill Maher's "Real Time" a few weeks ago who was told by Ann Coulter that his government worker mother "is a drain on sociey":

I'm sure he'll fit in just fine.

*****Update: Hayes's wife works for Obama (h/t NB reader Thomas Charles Stewart III)...

Since the White House made it official today, I wanted to note as a matter of full disclosure that my wife Kate Shaw is now an attorney in the Office of the White House Counsel. Obviously, my views are entirely my own, and throughout a long campaign in which I had very dear family members involved with the Obama organization, I'd like to think I maintained a critical distance. I intend to do so in covering the administration.

Isn't that special?

What will Alex Witt do? Will she still get her 200G's a year?

Submitted by Red Jeep on Wed, 08/03/2011 - 11:23am.

Does she still owe a friend $65G's? http://www.cbsnews.com/8301-504083_162-20045478-504083.html

I feel sorry for Witt.

Submitted by no tingly legs on Wed, 08/03/2011 - 11:41am.

She couldn't afford to send her daughter on a school trip to Scotland with her brother. Oh the embarrassment of it all! I'll bet the poor kid, after the 65G loan, even had to stoop so low as to fly in business class to Europe instead of first class. It's funny she had all those financial troubles though. I mean libs are normally so good at handling money. But come to think of it, it's OPM (other people's money) that they have a knack for handling. Actually, someone ought to check if the lawyer friend (make that ex-friend) who loaned Witt the 65K is playing with a full deck.

Same ol', same ol'

Submitted by Galvanic on Wed, 08/03/2011 - 11:24am.

No surprise here. MSNBC has established its so-called "brand" and they're leaning forward -- or whatever their goofy slogan is.

All they need now is Dan Rather, ending each show with "Courage."

On the plus side...

Submitted by NattyGreene on Wed, 08/03/2011 - 11:29am.

At least they didn't hire that sour-puss Katrina Vanden Heuvel, also of the Nation. Every time she talks to someone who isn't a flaming liberal, she gets a look on her face like she's sucking on a lemon.

As for Mr. Hayes, he's just tiresome. However, if MSNBC were to combine his "focus on politics" with their mid-day prison documentaries... well now, that would be interesting!

Wow, Fox is hiring MOR people and they are biased as all hell............. but MSNBC is NOT and they don't have an agenda and Chris Matthews is not ideological at all.

And just what kind of ratings

Submitted by ricklail on Wed, 08/03/2011 - 11:37am.

And just what kind of ratings will he have? MESSNBC on weekends is a bigger joke than through the week. Besides football will be going on at those times. It is not going to be too much longer before the stockholders at Comcast see how MESSNBC is draining their profits.

It could be worse

Submitted by Conservator on Wed, 08/03/2011 - 11:45am.

While Christopher Hayes is an arrogant little lefty wimp, he's preferable to his boss - Katrina vanden Heuvel otherwise known as the perilous progressive and the Wicked Witch of the East & West Coast. But it's nice to know that MSNBC/NBC hasn't change with new ownership and we can look forward to more NewsBuster's stories and videos of the far left's bias reporting.

All the hopes and change

Submitted by Tjexcite on Wed, 08/03/2011 - 2:09pm.

That with the transition of ownership of GE to comcast all had hope that it would cause MSNBC to come back for the precipice of la la land. But they are just running faster to la la land. Any day now there will be members of comcast execs showing up as white house advisers, if there are not any already.
