Gasparino Counters Huffington's Claim Fox Coverage of British Hacking Scandal 'Embarrassing to Journalism'
Liberal shill Arianna Huffington predictably echoed left-wing talking points on ABC's "This Week" Sunday concerning Fox News's coverage of the British hacking scandal being "embarrassing for journalism."
Fortunately for the sake of accuracy, Fox Business Network's Charlie Gasparino was there to set the record straight (video follows with transcript and commentary):
ARIANNA HUFFINGTON, AOL HUFFINGTON POST: The coverage of Fox and the Wall Street Journal of this story has been embarrassing for journalism. You know…
Actually, one of the biggest embarrassments to journalism in recent memory was AOL buying out the perilously liberal Huffington Post.
As such, Huffington is in no position to accuse anyone or anything of embarrassing journalism given what her pathetic website does to the industry on a daily basis.
But I digress:
CHARLIE GASPARINO, FOX BUSINESS NETWORK: Arianna, we've been covering it more, we’ve been covering it all the time.
HUFFINGTON: …editorials in the Wall Street Journal. Forget Fox, you know, nobody really expects Fox to do this seriously…
GASPARINO: Fox has been covering this very seriously, Arianna.
HUFFINGTON: The Wall Street Journal editorials whitewashing what is a very, very serious scandal that we have not seen the end of.
GASPARINO: The company has said it’s serious.
CHRISTIANE AMANPOUR, HOST: Hopefully discuss this more in the green room.
GASPARINO: I think we've covered this well. We have straight news reporters that have covered this all day.
Indeed they have.
As NewsBusters reported last Sunday, Fox had done at least 30 reports concerning this scandal in the first ten days after it broke.
But facts don't matter to shills like Huffington.
She wants the only major news organization that doesn't have a decidedly liberal bias to be off the air, and she's going to do whatever she possibly can to accomplish that goal.
Once again, it was fortunate for "This Week" viewers that Gasparino was there to counter Huffington's absurd misrepresentations.
Nice job, Charlie. Bravo!

have been EXCEPTIONALLY forward in the coverage, even to the point that EVERYTIME a piece is don, they are sure to include the disclosure that, '~News Corp. is the parent corporation of The Fox News Network [or whatever outlet is providing the story]. They seem not to be afraid that this is part of covering the good, the bad, and the ugly in journalism.
Arianna Huffington?????

A commentator? Ha ha ha ha, what a joke. Talk about a liberal rump swab who
wouldn't know facts if they were sitting on the edge of her nose. I like Charlie Gasparino for a lot of reason, but I still believe when you go up against the likes of Arianna, you have to spew facts - thirty stories, reporters in London, all day coverage of the hearings, etc. etc. etc. When it comes to a liberal, embarassment is the weapon of choice.

The Huffingtion Post, where Leftist bloggers complain they aren't getting paid for their "work".
Comical, isn't that what those Left bloggers stands for? Arianna and Collectivism, and not Free Capitalist.
Anyhow Back to this issue. WOW? ABC talking about not covering a story? "Comical".
Of course, what no one talks
Submitted by cathartic1 on Sun, 07/24/2011 - 2:50pm.
Of course, what no one talks about, is the tone of those stories. Fox & Friends basically saying "Nothing to see here", or another story where the guest was saying that the mainstream media are "piling" on News Corpse and should be focusing on other organizations that have been hacked; right. We shouldn't be paying attention to the ones doing the hacking, or how many arrests have been made, etc.
Beware of the Tone

The Tone is coming! The Tone is coming! Hide the women and children! Run for cover. My oh my what can we do?
Got any proof of this?

Loved the headlines: "...Jaw-Dropping Whitewash...", "...Smackdown..." Obviously posted by Cathartic1's pals.
More like proof FNC is doing the job other media outlets are afraid to.
This is a Whitewash? REALLY? You're serious? You're saying that FNC is playing down the NOTW scandal by pointing to other incidents of hacking? No, I'd say that they're taking the scandal very seriously. You just played a video of only one angle presented from the the many reports covering this story. An angle conveniently kept buried by the rest of the media.
I'm sure you missed the part where it was reported that Rupert Murdoch closed the News of the World and apologized. That was reported even in this video. "Nothing to see here" attitude? Hardly!
And FNC is right to point out of other hacking scandals that the media chose to ignore, like the hacking of Sara Palin's emails, or Wikileaks, but they were on the ball to condemn the hacking behind climate-gate. Remember that?
And how is FNC supposed to describe what this scandal really is? A WITCH HUNT!
For the second video, Again, love the "...Smackdown..." headline. After what the world media and the British Government, (and now apparently the U.S. Government as well) is putting Murdoch through, I'm not surprised of his reaction. Unfortunately the video ends after 24 seconds, so we don't get to see what happens with the rest of the interview... to give us a better understanding of the context... you know CONTEXT??? You're familiar with that concept, right?
Unfortunately, I am not able to get Fox Business, and I've tried "DEMANDING IT", but because we're in Canada, my carrier is not interested. Something tells me that my carrier would like to dump Fox News too, but people like myself have shown them that it's a rather popular channel -- even up here! (they tried to ban it, but we're still getting it! How is that possible?) especially when you realize that the comments made in Red Eye was not meant to be taken seriously. Despite that little curfuffle, here we have a report from FoxNews.com Lauding Canada for the way a Liberal government handled our version of the budget crises back in the mid 90's. This is pure irony on so many levels, n'est pas?
One more point... Exactly how many arrests have been made in the NOFW Scandal? Andy Colson, and Rebecca Brooks. Two former NOTW employees. And the MSM fails to mention time and time again that Rebecca Brooks was released nine hours later with no charges pending, no trial date set, or appearance scheduled of any kind. Sounds much less like an arrest to me... more like she was brought in only for questioning, but that's just me!

See my post above.
These videos are from a show where they discuss how the media handles certain topics. Not what I would consider "hard news".
But I did see that clip as it happened, and it was during a time when little was known about the scandal, so naturally no one wanted to touch the subject until they knew more about it. And yes, it IS part of the liberal witch hunt! Again, I refer to my post above. (don't feel like going through this again)
Even a liberal friend of mine at work acknowledge that as head of a corporation, Mr. Murdoch would have little to do with the day-to-day affairs of about 1 maybe 2 percent of his entire corporation. That would be like expecting Obama to know if an agricultural clerk in SoCal stole 1000's of dollars worth of office equipment. ( I "borrowed" that analogy from another NB'er, with my thanks.)

Remember when she was a "moderate Republican" like Margaret Hoover? That was before her millionaire hubby switched teams and Zsa Zsa switched ideologies... I bet she lunches with other Republican turncoats like Peggy Noonan, Dougie Kmiec and Kathleen Parker.

Gee, did the NYT give wall to wall coverage last week of their abysmal financial performance? As THE heroic media institution, shouldn't they set the example of covering one's own bad news?
I liked their back & forth

I liked their back & forth re: business not hiring. She is with the left saying it's lack of demand, ignoring the other variables, like this fake scaremongering about the debt ceiling.
As to FOX not covering this story? It's obvious she doesn't watch it. I know the left would LOVE to conflate a tabloid with FOX, to further marginalize them, but that's so weak.
Aren't these the same people who said don't judge the Pres. by the company HE keeps, yet they want to judge a company by the bad behavior of one arm?
