Democrat Mayor Threatens Reason's Nick Gillespie on 'Real Time': 'Want to Take it Outside?'
Reason TV's Nick Gillespie was threatened on HBO's "Real Time" by Mayor John Fetterman (D-Braddock, Pa.).
After Gillespie made a joke about Fetterman being mayor of the poorest town in Pennsylvania, the Mayor responded, "You want to take it outside?" (video follows with transcript and commentary):
BILL MAHER, HOST: I feel like the American worker has been conditioned to feel like there is no such thing as revenue. That's why this theory works that we can only do spending cuts. We can't have revenue because the American worker has seen no revenue increase for 30 years. His wages have been trashed.
NICK GILLESPIE, REASON TV: That’s not true. American workers, nobody's wages has been flat for 30 years. Our purchasing power is very good.
MAYOR JOHN FETTERMAN, (D -BRADDOCK, PENNSYLVANIA): I'm the mayor of the poorest town in Pennsylvania.
GILLESPIE: Well, you must be very proud.
FETTERMAN: No, again, you know, you want to take it outside? Geez.
MAHER: Whoa.
GILLESPIE: Yeah.
[APPLAUSE]
GILLESPIE: That’s why I’m carrying the pen.
MAHER: No, no, no, nobody's taking it outside.
Those that missed this program are likely thinking this exchange was caused by Gillespie's joke.
Not so. The popular Libertarian was wiping the floor with Fetterman, guest Donna Brazile, as well as host Bill Maher concerning raising the debt ceiling.
At every turn during this panel segment, Gillespie showed himself to be the only person in the room that was knowledgable on the subject, while his three opponents responded with vapid Democrat talking points lacking any substance or proximity to the truth.
This appeared to be making Fetterman a bit hot under the collar, and Gillespie joshing about him being the mayor of the poorest town in Pennsylvania was obviously the last straw.
In the end, Gillespie proved the old axiom: be careful presenting facts to a liberal for it's guaranteed to enrage him.
Nice job, Nick! Bravo!

Notice what is happening in America. Politicians, pushing agenda to bring this nation to create a welfare state and bring this nation to its knees, having put Americans against each other while the politicians continue to feed that uncivil discourse. People literally defending politicians as someone insulted their mother. Even amongst family, as you've stated. It's like some type of king sitting up on a throne, bringing in people from two sides and announcing....."Now Fight!!".......and the fight begins while the king sits and watches for his enjoyment.
Liberals want that welfare state, and unknowingly they also are wanting the demise of the great America that changed the entire world for the better.

He makes Michael Moore look anorexic. Who begins a discussion with admitting to your worst quality? It's like showing up to job interview with a bank and admitting you're a thief.

Recently at a friend's house I was introduced to a Brit living here now and the conversation went from the recent royal nuptials to politics. Actually it started when he made a denigrating remark about 'rednecks', obviously unaware of the various origins of that moniker which aren't racist at all yet believing the stereotype that a redneck must naturally be an inbred, bigoted moron of southern heritage. I announced proudly that I was a redneck. My ancestors were all farmers known for giving their excess to people who didn't have enough and not a white sheet in the entire lot. And I'll stack my education up against any of the literati. So it was that every progressive talking point was batted down until the inevitable...HE decided HE didn't want to discuss politics anymore. They only thing that would have made it better is if he had called me a nazi while storming out of the room. I felt cheated.... Liberalism is a mental disease characterized by petulant name-calling, weird fact-twisting, and the inability to think logically. The poster child is Barack Hussein Obama. To all the posters here who've had such encounters, keep fighting. Our silence and letting the progressives control the narrative has allowed this downward spiral. We have a voice and we have facts. Why is it that liberals never preach "living within one's means"? They continually blame anyone else for why they do not have or why they cannot afford or why they cannot get.
I begrudge no one their money as long as it was obtained legally and I do not demand nor do I expect that they "share" any of their money with me. We all pay our fair share AS DEFINED BY THE IRS. If there are loopholes that give someone an unfair advantage, is it their fault for taking full advantage of those loopholes or that of the IRS for allowing those loopholes to exist?

If the American worker HAS been conditioned to believe that there is no such thing as revenue - then it's easy to understand WHY they think that the damn government spends too much!!! Because that 'too much' is coming out of THEIR 'revenue!!!!
Jeez.............has ol' Donkeyface EVER made any sense???
As for this mayor guy..........the poor people of his township must be pretty proud of him, huh??? Apparantly Moooooooooochelle hasn't gotten him into the woodshed yet and talked to him about diet, but I'm sure that the people he surrounds himself with look and dress very similiar to him.

wtf does that mean anyway? "Conditioned to believe there is no such thing as revenue"? Is he trying to say that American workers refer to what progressives call government "revenue" by the more appropriate term "taxes"? Or is he saying that American workers generally don't believe that revenue exists in economics? In business? In households? It's funny. I looked up "revenue" on dictionary.com.
Yet further down the page they have this:
Nice example of how liberal politics has altered the meaning of a word to better suit their purposes, and yet here's Maher saying that American workers (whom he surely equates only with unionized workers) don't believe the the concept exists. Or maybe he doesn't think American workers believe the word exists. I don't know. I can't find any logic at all in his statement. Nonsensical raving.

I think what the American worker HAS been conditioned to is the fact that the governement MUST keep increasing their spending to survive...........and when these complete and totally hopeless idiots talk about 'shared sacrifice', they AREN'T talking about doing it themselves!!!

I grew up somewhat near Braddock, Pennsylvania, and am familiar with why Braddock and so many other former steel towns in Pennsylvania and Ohio are so destitute. You can blame it on the unions. I worked as a Steelworkers Union member in the steel mills after high school, and union wages were exorbitant, way beyond wages in non-union sectors. You know the rest of the story. many steel companies were in bed with their unions. The unions negotiated very high wages and benefits, in exchange for permitting the companies to move their funding obligations down the road. Steel employees were told that they didn't have to save for retirement, because the company would take care of them.
Speaking of Bethlehem Steel, I came across two articles that might interest you. The first article is from the Baltimore Sun dated 1998 and titled Beth Steel gets back on solid ground Company's unfunded pension liability nearly eliminated. The second article at The Motley Fool website dated 2005 is titled Your Incredible Vanishing Pension, and discusses briefly the downfall of Bethlehem Steel and PBGC's handling of the company's retirement obligations. As you may know, once the PBGH takes over, retirees are rarely made whole.
I live in California, and California Democrats who run this state are in bed with the public employee unions. California's unfunded pension liability is over $500 Billion, California taxpayers are legally obligated to pay that enormous debt. I guess once the state drains me of my assets to pay for these obligations, I'll have to sell my blood.

From Wikipedia:
The town of Braddock, a suburb of Pittsburgh, was founded around the site of Andrew Carnegie's first steel mill, the Edgar Thomson Steel Works in 1873, as well as the first Carnegie library, and developed with the local steel industry.[1] In the 1920s, the town was more densely-populated than Brooklyn, New York City. In the mid-1940s the town had around 20,000 residents. With the decline of the steel industry in the 1970s, many of the residents moved elsewhere in search of work, and other businesses failed. In the impoverished urban environment, street gangs such as the Crips became popular.[2] The population dropped to below 3,000 in 2009. In 2008, the average house value was $6,200, and 300 within the borough were vacant.[1][3] The town had just two operating stores.[4] While the steel mill still operates 24 hours a day, it employed just 560 people in 2010, compared to more than 5,000 at one point.[5]

"Revenue"
Submitted by Junk Science Skeptic on Sat, 07/23/2011 - 11:46pm.
Has anybody else noticed the coordinated left wing effort over the past few weeks to recast "taxes" as "revenue," trying to equate the taxes levied by the gov't, to revenue EARNED by businesses.
It's like some (journo)list of people were getting the same talking points fed to them by the White House.
This is especially vexing when one considers that these same people have never understood the difference between "rates" (the price charged, using a business analogy) and "revenues" (the total amount collected) in the tax system.
The left persists in the child-like belief that simply raising rates will guarantee a proportional increase revenues, and that cutting rates guarantees a proportional decrease in revenues.
While it might be asking too much to expect lefties to understand simple economic concepts like price elasticity, the everyday example provided by retail coupons, price discounts and sale events bringing in higher total revenues to a retailer is simple enough for the typical eight-year-old to understand.
Of course if lefties understood (or accepted) the historical facts of U.S. tax history, they'd also know that raising rates has never succeeded (Wilson, FDR, Carter, Obama) in significantly raising gov't revenues as a percentage of GDP, while there are multiple examples (Coolidge, Kennedy, Reagan, Bush 43) of rate cuts resulting not in decreased revenue, but in improved GDP growth and increased gov't revenue.

"Sure, just give me a chance to make it a fair fight. Let me go out and find another 6'8, 380 pound tub o shit and the two of you can go at it like twins fighting over a drumstick."
Or . . . "Take it outside? Why, what a great idea! That's where I leave all my garbage! But I've never had mine offer to take itself outside before. Thanks, please, by all means. Go."
A wise & frugal government, which shall leave men free 2 regulate their own pursuits of industry & improvement, & shall not take from the mouth of labor the bread it has earned - this is the sum of good government. T. Jefferson

Golden Gloves weight class winner, and a bar fighter, as well.
He told me that any guy who says "You wanna take this outside?', really didn't want to go outside and fight.
A scrapper would just nail you with a punch without any preliminary jawing around; if that first one didn't take you out, then the fight was on.

Maher is a jackwagon of the first idiocy. Revenue implies it was income that was EARNED though labor or services and paid for in wages or contractual fees. The Government doesn't EARN any REVENUE. The Government COLLECTS TAXES and that is the source of Federal, State and Local government income. Also, Leftie Mayor Porky FETTERMAN needs to take some Prozac and stop eating his own citizens.
The bullet is mightier than a punch.

Yeah, you might be able to shake me around a few, may be whack me across the jaw one time, and leave me feeling like I been through a blender. But, if you can't manage to put my lights out completely, I carry a concealed weapon called 357 Magnum that will do wonders to somebody's face and body.
Memo From Maher: Don't Put Nick Gillespie on My Show Again
Submitted by WhatTheHuh on Sun, 07/24/2011 - 8:43pm.
Take it outside? Really? That guy has to be a Democrat. Only Dems would put a lout like that in office. This is the ypical response from a Lib when confronted with the facts. They either personally attack you or threaten you (see Unions). The other clip of Gillespie asking Maher if he would give up his two cars or even his show to reduce his carbon footprint was also classic. The "Duh" look on Maher's face said it all.

Sounds like Fetterman is the type of guy who threatens people to fights and when the person he challenges declines goes back to his people claiming how tough he was.
Anyone know of any post-Maher interviews the "Mayor" did back home where he talked about his appearance on Maher's show? If so, please provide any links.
