Bill Maher Lies About 9/11 Comment That Cost Him ABC Job
Bill Maher less than a week after the 9/11 attacks made an absurd comment on his "Politically Incorrect" program that led ABC to not renew his contract.
Almost ten years later, as the host of HBO's "Real Time," Maher is trying to revise history concerning what he said (video follows with transcripts and commentary):
BILL MAHER: He said I’m anti-religion. “Don’t forget he said that suicide bomber at 9/11” – I guess he’s trying to say, “Suicide bombers at, of 9/11” – “were more heroic than American servicemen,” which I never came close to saying. So here's a psychiatrist who's a liar and who goes on television.
The person Maher was referring to was psychiatrist Keith Ablow, who as NewsBusters reported was on "Fox & Friends" Wednesday claiming Maher hates women and has little regard for life.
Most importantly, here's what Maher actually said on "Politically Incorrect" shortly after 9/11:
MAHER: We have been the cowards. Lobbing cruise missiles from two thousand miles away. That's cowardly. Staying in the airplane when it hits the building. Say what you want about it. Not cowardly.
So, the hijackers that slammed planes into the World Trade Center and the Pentagon were "not cowardly," but the folks "lobbing cruise missiles from two thousand miles away" - which so happened to be "American servicemen" - ARE cowards.
With this in mind, who's lying about what Maher said ten years ago?

Whether it be a lie or his version of truth, there is nothing that comes out of his mouth that matters at all. His tiny following is just as screwed up as he is !

The terrorist are not cowardly? I could find a slew of adjectives to describe what they are in not so glowing terms. Nice to see that Bill has so much respect for them opposed to what he thinks of our Servicemen. I wonder if Bill gets a tingle up his leg when he thinks about Osama Obama.

This week a lib co-worker was saying he wishes Bill Maher's show would get syndicated. That told me all I need to know about the co-worker's beliefs. Honestly though, I was so taken aback by what he said that I was speechless. I've never met a Maher devotee before, but yes, they really do exist. Arguing with him probably would have been pointless, because if he's that far gone he's probably immune to facts anyway. And a really sad sad person.
Maher Might Have Alzheimer's Disease...

Maher's selective memories and/or creative reinventions, as of late concluding any sentence with an indignant "I blame those conservatives" or "I blame those Republicans," indicate signs of mental deterioration, irrationality. Or perhaps Tourette's, who knows? He's been on the decline for a long time now.
Was there ever a time when Maher was actually FUNNY? Hmm... maybe before 9/11 and he was canned by ABC for being an unpatriotic, outspoken a$$. The country was in agonizing pain, thousands of people had died fiery deaths, and he didn't flippin' care. The American public was outraged at his audacity. After that, it was downhill for Maher - any shred of occasional funniness he had was metamorphosed into one-dimensional bitterness. He became a nasty old man long before his chronological age caught up with him. As I recall, everyone, liberals included, decried and maligned him for his outrageous comments only a few days after September 11. Only one high-profile person in the industry can I recall courageously defended him and his freedom of speech - that was Rush Limbaugh, despite Maher's attacks on him. Bet Bill doesn't remember that, either.
Alzheimer's? I wouldn't give hims such an easy pass.

No surprises here. The liberal media think their viewers are idiots who can't read, and who never keep track of what they say. They think no one will remember any of their outrageous drivel past their next meal.
But Mahar is a shriveled prune of a human being, a creature consumed by his hatred and the fact that he gets paid well to vomit his filth on the air.
Maher was, is and always WILL be a liar and a coward!

PERIOD! Plus hes an unfunny, liberal wise-assed DORK! WHY do people, esp conservatives, go on that crap-long-past-its-due-date "show" ? And where in BLAZES does he get that ultra-America-hating audience of his? Even libs who like Maher hate that crowd!

Technically, Bill didn't say “Suicide bombers at, of 9/11” – “were more heroic than American servicemen,”
He actually never mentioned "American servicemen." He said "WE" were the cowards lobbing missiles. I guess he meant he and his pals at HBO.
So someone owes him an apology on that.

Far be it from me to defend the repugnant Maher, and his post-9/11 commentary--viciously jabbing at an open wound--was simply inexcusable. But, let's face it, Ablow did indeed misconstrue, misstate, and mischaracterize Maher's observation.

the following is my most recently expressed example in a long line of criticisms regarding Maher:
...but it doesn't make Maher's "joke" [that Gingrich is so pathetic he's trailing a candidate whose color alone precludes his nomination by the GOP] any more defensible. It indicts the Republican party as an aggregation of racists who would never consider a black man for the presidency. It is a sickening, despicable lie. And it disgusts me that this towering asshole continues to spew such filth.

that your continued running along the top of the fence line, ever ready to jump to either side in order to bolster your own defense, of yourself, is fascinating.
As you are an unapologetic, out and out liberal, I don't always find what you say to be either believable or necessarily provable from a conservative viewpoint; but I do find your comportment to be most interesting, indeed.

Ah, very incisive, Jer.
Deep.
Inscrutable, even.
You missed the point of my post, which was that when you deign to express your disdain for blowhards and bomb throwers of both parties, you apparently see the practice as establishing yourself as a centrist fence straddler, who, after casting aspersions at liberal figures, is to be considered above reproach when casting liberal jabs at conservatives or maybe, Republicans.
Calling out idiots, fools, or deserving Nimrods on either side of the aisle may be honorable, but it does not camouflage in any way, shape, or form, your continued liberal reflex action of defending "normal" liberal/Democratic practices, statements, or policies, in general, as being correct, proper, and unassailable.
Calling a public figure out, political or not, for an egregious personal action is one thing; sustaining liberal political support, for liberals and Democrats, when posting on a conservative blog site, could most certainly be considered to be anathema to conservatives, and maybe even a tad confrontational.

Gosh, my friend, I'm sorry but I am a Democrat. Apologies aside, would you care to read a few other examples of my "unswerving devotion" to the left by my linking posts where I have slammed--in addition to Maher--Schultz, Olbermann, Malloy, Helen Thomas, Matthews, Harry Reid, Nancy Pelosi, and others?
Here's some advice which you can heed or ignore: Know your facts before you leap. It saves a lot of embarrassment when you fall on your butt.

Yes! I would like to see all of your links "slamming” these “democrats”? I would also like to see the links of you defending these vile and reprehensible democrats. Hey if Olbermann, Matthews, Maher ,Shultz, Malloy, and Helen Thomas are your Democrats that you slam then maybe for a mental giant like you , you can figure out for yourself without showing up here that these are your basic American haters.
Hey everyone is entitled to a zealous defense and you are their boy . But I may be wrong based on the links you provide.
Because you call a kettle black doesn’t somehow make you a genius or objective. Lets see both sides of the links.
So lets go with the facts Jer show both the slamming and the defending and if not than you can heed my advice taken from a great Republican:
"Better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak out and remove all doubt..".

Mahrer has a following which like it or not
Submitted by lrgon on Sat, 07/09/2011 - 5:31pm.
isn't going away despite those who jab at him for being what he is: a guy that shoots off his mouth and steps outside the politically correct box that media execs expect libs like him to stay in. Mahrer crticized the war in Iraq and did it way too early before the word managers told him to.
He doesn't like Christians and religion in general, small government, lower taxes, church weddings between man and woman, and all the things conservatives honor. But that is fine with media word managers. But going after war mongers or criticizing the conduct of it was taboo. That would have stirred up interest even among liberal fans of his to begin questioning war policies based on the upside down Liberal hawk /neocon faction.
Mahrer obviuously felt safe criticizing Bush but he was wrong and was swatted down like a bad puppy dog.
War is wanted by the establishment to anger the rabble and to use war to build bigger government at home a la DHS which is Hitlerian in structure and has the capability of jailing Christians, patriots, 2nd amendment advocates, veterans, right to lifers and Constitution lovers.
On the other hand conservatives at Fox also have their orders to stay inside those same political parameters. Beck stepped outside the box and he is leaving. Too much talk about: the CFR, Bilderber groups, the Federal Reserve, the meaning of Inflation, etc.; topics that are way outside the world of political correctness, perhaps?
