ABC's Muir: Will 'Deeply Felt Criticism in Africa Melt Under the Glow Cast By Mrs. Obama and Her Girls?'

By Noel Sheppard | June 26, 2011 | 15:22

As the First Lady and her daughters toured Africa last week, Americans were treated to puff piece after piece from their adoring fans in the press.

One such aired on ABC's "This Week" Sunday with David Muir actually saying, "Will some of that deeply felt criticism in Africa melt under the glow cast by Mrs. Obama and her girls?" (video follows with transcript and commentary):

DAVID MUIR, ABC NEWS: There are many who wonder if Mrs. Obama’s visit will help soothe criticism that her husband has not done enough to reach out to Africa. Critics point out just one visit while in office. Some argue the HIV/AIDS effort was stronger under the Bush administration. But the Obama White House argues it has laid out a plan for Africa combating hunger and widening public health outreach beyond HIV.

The question now: will some of that deeply felt criticism in Africa melt under the glow cast by Mrs. Obama and her girls who came here to spread their own message that there is still work to be done.

Yes, that's all ailing and starving Africans need to make their troubles go away: a little of Michelle's glow.

After all, the Obamas are a magic elixir that wash all of the world's problems away - except, of course, rising unemployment, ballooning gas prices, spiraling food costs, and plummeting home prices.

But other than that...

Just like Willie Jeff Clinton on Rwanda, Obama at the end of his term, will reflect solemnly that he should have done more for Africa.

Off camera, Mr. Obama was heard to say "But DANG!  Them scrawny little kids sure made Michelle look good, didn't they"  Great photo-op!"

The headlines from Fox to Drudge have blacks shooting in Washington D.C and maybe San Francisco, robbing in Philly , Chicago and in Peoria, Il shouting out to whites "kill them all".. Yep there is a "good" glow from Michelle's trip.

and Obama is out golfing..

→ Rogue Male Elephants

Submitted by Cool Arrow on Sun, 06/26/2011 - 3:58pm.

Notice Drudge found it in UK Daily Mail.

Seems the American Mainstream Media has sold itself wholly into the idea that black Americans are incapable of controlling themselves.

Does anybody remember the story on 60 Minutes where it was discovered that young male elephants engage in violence for the sake of violence when the older males are removed from the herd?

Democrats, with LBJ's war on Poverty have, for some 45 years, engaged in just such an experiment with Americans, most especially black Americans.

many red (rouge) "elephants" in Cajun country, do they Boudin.? Sorry, I couldn't he'p myse'f.
But, you are mistaken about them being "rogue" elephants. The study on the teenaged elephants acting badly without the big bulls to "put them in their place" is accurate. And, contrary to what the "anti's" would have you believe, it happens mostly in countries where elephant hunting is banned. In those countries where it is banned poaching is rampant without the fees and licenses to provide protection and control of which elephants are taken.

Were The Obama's Advocates of Africa Before?

Submitted by gruyere cheese on Sun, 06/26/2011 - 3:53pm.

Caring and volunteering for a cause is either with you or is not. You don't need to find a job then do it, unless you are forced into it. The Obama's have an African background, and so, it begs the question; did they travel to Africa before they moved into 1600 Penn Avenue? How about when Mr. O made a trip to Ireland to reconnect with his ancestors. Were they so proud of their roots before the election that they took their children to Africa or Ireland to help them understand where they came from? I go for probably not on this one. These couple are as phony as a crocked salesman...

Now the MSM is helping the Obamas hide behind their children?

He is in huge trouble in the 2012 election.  The only way he can win is if the GOP folds on raising the Debt Limit, continues to ignore the Tea Party, and nominates another RINO.

How many of those children

Submitted by stratman on Sun, 06/26/2011 - 5:00pm.

How many of those children are starving because of the Left's reckless policies on food and energy?

If the Obama's actually cared about America, Africa, and the whole planet then they would stop using corn for fuel and begin drilling for oil and greenlighting more coal and nuclear power plants.

More food and energy in America's pipeline means more food and energy available at a lower cost for the rest of the planet as well.

The Left is not only stuck on stupid, they are endangering the planet with their pie in the sky utopian fantasies.

Cash

Submitted by grammajane on Sun, 06/26/2011 - 5:02pm.

Why not send the cash to Africa instead of wasting it all on the numerous vacations for this "first family" There would be thousands of dollars that could buy HIV drugs rather then mochelle wasting money on french fries and fried bread for herself, kids, mother, and nieces and nephews. The kids dying from Aids would rather appreciate medicine to help them rather then watching the numerous photo-opps from all this so-called caring and compassion family,

Gramma.............we've been sending cash to Africa forever!!! (Remember the tsetse flies in your high-school world-news clips???). How much of that 'cash' has ever really gotten to the areas where it can do any good??? And do we need to blame the 'white' man for this problem??? Not any more than we can blame the 'white man' for selling the slaves..........or even STARTING slavery!!!

I'm so sick of this crap................I'd cut EVERY dollar from EVERY country in this whole goddamn world that takes it and gives us the finger.............so that would include about 90% of them!!! I'm a helluva lot more interested in SAVING our great USA than throwing more money down some useless, wasteful rathole.....................and that includes domestic policies as well as foreign policies!!!

Africa - if only Obama'(s) can fill Bush's shoes

Submitted by Gary Hall on Sun, 06/26/2011 - 5:04pm.

Well, we've come a long ways since the days of Bill Clinton:

  • Genocide in the Congo (Zaire): In the Name of Bill Clinton, and of the Paris Club, and of the Mining Conglomerates, So It Is

And..

  • Too little, too late - How many times is Bill Clinton going to apologize to Africa? 2002 by David Corn

And many thanks to President Bush for paving the way.

  • Bush in Africa

Can Obama step up and fill the shoes he inherited?

July 20, 2010 - Obama’s Overdue AIDS Bill - By DESMOND TUTU, Cape Town

  • HAVING met President Obama, I’m confident that he’s a man of conscience who shares my commitment to bringing hope and care to the world’s poor. But I am saddened by his decision to spend less than he promised to treat AIDS patients in Africa.
  • George W. Bush made an impressive commitment to the international fight against AIDS when he formed the President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief program. Since 2004, Pepfar has spent $19 billion to help distribute anti-viral treatments to about 2.5 million Africans infected with H.I.V.
  • Thanks to these efforts — and similar initiatives, like those spearheaded by the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria — the number of African patients with access to AIDS drugs jumped tenfold from 2003 to 2008. Since 2004, the AIDS-related mortality rate in sub-Saharan Africa has dropped 18 percent.
  • Yet President Obama . . .

Meanwhile the MSM is too star struck to observe.

Oh, I get it.  She told them, yeah, we haven't done a lot yet, but in  the meantime I'm here to dance and play with you!!  Isn't that great?  And they said, oh, yes, now we can endure!!

You mean Ms. French Fries and other fatty/cholesteral foods??? Yeah, I'm sure that she is having a REAL impact on our status in Africa!!! I think those Kenyans feel a little bit 'dissed' that Boy Barry didn't own up to his roots over there.............and his half-brother is still in his shack!! (So much for re-distributionism.)

The only thing this lard-ass has done since she became First Lady is to spend, spend. spend, spend.........................on OUR dollar!!! If this was Laura Bush or Barbara Bush or Reagan's wife, they would be murdered for this type of activity!!! Especially in THIS economic climate!!!

Mooooooooooooooochelle and Boy Barry are a PERFECT pair.......there is NO question about it!!
