NYT Omits Men Plotting to Attack Military Processing Center in Seattle Were Radical Muslim Converts
The New York Times Friday reported two men were arrested in Seattle earlier in the week for plotting to attack a military processing center.
Unfortunately, the Times chose to omit the fact the pair were radical Muslim converts with one of them actually idolizing Osama bin Laden (photo courtesy Agence France-Presse - Getty Images):
Federal law enforcement officials have arrested two men who they say planned to attack a military processing center here using machine guns and grenades.
The men — Abu Khalid Abdul-Latif, also known as Joseph A. Davis, 33, of Seattle, and Walli Mujahidh, also known as Frederick Domingue Jr., 32, of Los Angeles — were arrested late Wednesday and charged with conspiracy to murder federal officers and employees, conspiracy to use weapons of mass destruction and several firearms-related charges.
The processing center, called the Military Entrance Processing Station, is used to help process new enlistees. The building is in an industrial area south of downtown. The government said it also houses a federally run day care center.
That's right - a day care center, meaning that had they been successful, innocent children might have been slaughtered.
Yet the Times chose to omit from its report an important detail: these men were radical Muslim converts. One of them actually admired Osama bin Laden as the Seattle Times reported Thursday:
A radical Muslim, Abdul-Latif said he admired Osama bin Laden and was upset about alleged atrocities committed by U.S. soldiers in Afghanistan, according to a federal complaint.
"In his view, murdering American soldiers was justifiable," the complaint stated. "He wanted to die as a martyr in the attack." [...]
A dating profile that appears to belong to Abdul-Latif indicates he converted to Islam about nine years ago.
In the online profile, which corresponds to his name, height (5 feet 6 inches), age and race, Abdul-Latif said he was looking for a second wife, age 16 to 30, who "wouldn't mind sharing me with my current wife ... ."
"I am a very dedicated, strong, and intelligent Muslim," he wrote, noting that he wanted to "make a life from the most oppressive place on this earth 'America.' "
By the time he was allegedly planning his attack in Seattle, he was a religious radical, according to the government's complaint.
"Abdul-Latif said that if he was killed in the attack, his son would be proud that he fought the 'nonbelievers,' " the complaint said.
The Seattle Post-Intelligencer reported more details Thursday evening:
During the recorded conversations, Abdul-Latif allegedly expounded on his desire to kill Americans and said he admired Osama bin Laden.
“Abdul-Latif said that ‘jihad’ in America should be a ‘physical jihad,’ and not just ‘media jihad,’ expressing his view that it was necessary to take action rather than just talk,” an FBI agent told the court. “Abdul-Latif referred to the 2009 Fort Hood massacre, when a single gunman killed 13 people.
“Abdul-Latif said that if one person could kill so many people, three attackers could kill many more.” [...]
Prosecutors contend Abdul-Latif also thought the attack would inspire others.
“Imagine how many young Muslims, if we’re successful, will try to hit these kids of centers,” he allegedly said. “Imagine how fearful America will be, and they’ll know they can’t push Muslims around.”
The PI also claimed, "In court documents, Abdul-Latif is described as a man who idolized Osama bin Laden."
Yet the Times report on these arrests ignored all these details. Instead, it portrayed the pair just as being anti-war:
The 38-page criminal complaint filed against the two suggested that they had not made final plans to carry out the alleged plot. They were frustrated, it said, by American war policies and discussed how to make an attack last as long as possible in order to get the most media attention for their actions.
So, Times author William Yardley read the 38-page report, which included details about the radical Muslim nature of the pair, but still opted to omit such facts from his article.
Is this really what passes for journalism at the Times today?
*****Update: To paraphrase a comment sent to me via Twitter, if these men were white and Christian, this incident would have been blamed on the Tea Party, Fox News, and Glenn Beck!

Someone should ask Nappy Janet about the profiling again. I bet she will still say the system worked.
I don't know if anyone remembers, but a while back, bin Laden said that 4 million people needed to be killed and I think he said either 1 million or two million must be children. So yeah, with a day care center, kids would have been killed as part of this.

Why, in America, Mormons are not allowed multiple wives but muslims are?
Mormons are not PC, Muslims are, to Liberals.
Submitted by Red Jeep on Fri, 06/24/2011 - 12:00pm.
Which is funny in a way because Liberal lifestyle is extremely sinful to Muslims, worthy of beheading.
Hmmm....Al Latif converted nine years ago?
Submitted by Blonde on Fri, 06/24/2011 - 11:55am.
I notice no mention of his conversion. Could Rep. Peter King be correct...that he was converted and radicalized in prison? Because, gosh, that wouldn't fit the MsM's meme on Muslims in America, would it.
Anyone know about this guy?

That was an easy search.
Both men are U.S. citizens and converts to Islam, according to the charges. Abdul-Latif is a felon who spent 2 ½ years in prison on robbery and assault charges.
And the media crickets continue to chirp, while portraying King as a racist.

Isn't that something when the average .........well, wait, I think those of us on here (most of us anyway) are above average.....to continue, when the average citizen is able to find out more about a subject regarding a person such as this guy or is able to guess with a great deal of accuracy the outcome or possibility (like were these two guys muslim before it became known that they were) of a situation?
Wouldn't that make us FAR more competent to take care of the Country's business versus the fraud and his sycophants?
When 9/11 happened, we KNEW it was a Muslim attack instead of an accident/tragedy(I will never call it a tragedy, it wasn't tragic).
When Ft. Hood happened, we KNEW a Muslim soldier was involved.
When the Christmas underwear would-be bomber happened, we KNEW that was a Muslim, but we also KNEW that somehow security was bypassed for this guy, otherwise, he wouldn't have gotten on.
There was that situation that happened recently in the Northwest part of the US, Portland, some kid tried to set off a bomb but was given fake parts at a Christmas Tree lighting this past November. Muslim too.
Time Square SUV would-be bomb-Muslim(instead of redneck)
And on and on.
How do we know these things? Because experience and history teaches us and gives us better odds of figuring out a current situation.
But the fed gov't would have us believe that there's no profiling that would help with this? Hell, if they want us to believe that, they are working with the enemy! We definitely can't rely on them to protect us.

This is WHY we need to hammer those (former supporters) who deem Obama "incompetent" with the facts! Like "why is the media not reporting THIS fact...or THAT fact (those you listed above)? Because the FACTS are readily available to anyone who cares to look. THAT's what is important, making the former Obama supporters understand they are NOT being told the truth. About anything.
At some point, these kool-aid drinkers will become former kool-aid drinkers, as they see the overwhelming evidence you and I present. Once you convince them that the media has an agenda, they'll search the facts out on their own, and voila! Another conservative is born.

I'm willing to bet that everytime the NY Times reported on the bombing of an abortion clinic or the murder of that late-term abortion doctor in Kansas, the "evangelical Christian" identity of the attacker was made abundantly clear.
If jihadis blew up the NYT building, they'd still whitewash it.

And to think we used to be terrified of Communists in the 50/60s. I'm certainly no commie fan, but I don't recall of thousands of commies carrying out or plotting random mass murder attacks on US soil like these primitive muslim cultists.
I want the NYT to die, and die quickly.

The reason Sheila Jackson Lee is so stupid is that she does read newspapers.
It's just that the newspapers fail to inform her.

So...
A. If Islam is a religion of peace, and
B. these bozos convert in part to wreak havoc on the USofA, and
C. no self-respecting Moslem stands up to condemn the bad name they're giving to Islam, then
D. we can deduce that Islam is NOT a religion of peace and does, in fact, attract the lunatic fringe BECAUSE of its true nature.
Or so it seems.

The NYTimes has been wanting the country to fall for a long time. You just have to read their archives to see that. So, when I hear they won't, can't, haven't, I know what the meaning is.
