Chris Matthews Rips Spitzer for Talking About Weinergate and CNN for Hiring Him
MSNBC's Chris Matthews took a well-deserved shot at rival network CNN Monday for actually giving former New York governor Eliot Spitzer his own program.
The "Hardball" host also took a swipe at Spitzer saying it was "ludicrous" for him to actually be talking about Congressman Anthony Weiner's (D-N.Y.) sex scandal (video follows with transcript and commentary):
CHRIS MATTHEWS, HOST: Do you think it’s something you would look forward to if Weiner got back on the stage like he was until a couple of weeks ago, on a show like this all the time, all the time being the Congressman from New York, with really the most out there Democrat on big issues like the economy and Medicare? Would that make you comfortable?
CONGRESSMAN JAMES CLYBURN (D-SOUTH CAROLINA): I don't think so. I believe…
MATTHEWS: You can't stop him.
CLYBURN: No. We can't. But I think that the Leader of our caucus determines who can and will speak for our caucus. I think our caucus collectively can make those determinations. I cannot see, if my caucus were ever to ask me not to speak on an issue, I would certainly not speak on that issue. And so I, no, we can't stop anybody from saying whatever they want to say, but we certainly can determine whether or not they speak on behalf of the caucus.
MATTHEWS: You know, I hate to break it to you, but some other network can put Eliot Spitzer on television. I'm telling you, you can't stop the networks from inviting who they want to invite. So, I know it's ludicrous. By the way, that was ludicrous that he's even talking about this case.
It is indeed ludicrous.
The idea that a married man can be forced to resign from public office as a result of a sex scandal involving prostitutes only to months later be hired by a news network to host his own program defies all reason.
For him to then be allowed to cover and comment on another politician's sex scandal makes you wonder if there are any adults at the top of CNN at this point in time.

Matthews is clearly just holding on to his backwards Christian values that are ruining the nation.
And what values are you

The values that the MSM said that we can't let go of and thus cause us to be "unjustly" appalled at what Weiner did.

He likes Weiner on his show all of the time. And that his show is a forum for a total Weiner display Weiner all the time.
Poor old Chrissy.

You just never get enough Weiner, do you Prissy? Are you more upset that he may give liberals a bad name, or the fact that you found out he goes both ways?
Maybe Chris forgot.

Spitzer lost his political career because of his scandal while Weiner insists on holding on. While Spitzer may favor the Democrats on most issues he is not one of their spokespeople. MSNBC is free to hire Weiner anytime they want.
Spitzer doesn't believe he's lost his political career

His ego is too big to accept it.
He's trying to work his way back into public acceptance by hosting a CNN show every night. MSNBC is schizophrenic on Weiner. Matthews disapproves, Schultz called for him to resign, and Maddow finds his behavior boorish but not career ending.
Sounds like Weiner is a good candidate to replace Schultz's time slot.
"Pee Weiner's Playhouse" -- Weiner dresses up like Pee Wee Herman and exchanges genital photos with Democratic celebrities.
Good one, Galvanic.

Just the other night Matthews was arguing with his guests and saying that questions about Weiner's strange behavior needed to be answered. I swear that Chrissy is insane. Then again, he is in last place in the ratings so no need to worry too much.

It doesn't defy all reason if you add the descriptive and factual word that was left out of the previous sentence: "liberal." Hence, the sentence becomes:
There's a show available for anybody....

Why the criticism of CNN for giving Spitzer his own show, Chris? MSNBC keeps you on even though you clearly belong in an asylum for the politically deranged.

MSNBC keeps Chris on eventhough he is suffering from dementia. To each network, their own I suppose.
Chosen People Held To Higher Standards

Conversations in my workplace with fellow employees gave me the full answer for the rage against Weiner. They felt that he was one of the chosen people and should be held to a higher standard. As one of the chosen people I strive for perfection knowing full well if caught in a lie or any breach of the highest moral order I will be severely punished.
Why would anyone try to

Why would anyone try to defend Weiner? After seeing the picture of his weiner on the Opie and Anthony feed, I say, "Kick him to the curb"....how embarassing for Huma. If she doesn't quit the marriage, and he doesn't quit the Congress, then they both deserve each other....
I think Tingle's is just jealous... LOL

Chrissi is just blathering mindlessly along because he can't think straight when he starts getting the tingles.
Unfortunately, Chrissi's tingles are linked to weiner's weener.
