Comedian Christopher Titus Jokes About Killing President Sarah Palin
Remember all that talk about toning down the violent rhetoric following the tragic shooting of Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords (D-Ariz.) in January?
Such good intentions certainly don't apply when talking about former Alaska governor Sarah Palin as comedian Christopher Titus demonstrated this weekend at the Irvine Improv in Southern California (audio follows courtesy Daily Caller with partial transcript and commentary):
You know what man? I am, I am going to literally, if she gets elected president, I am going to hang out on the grassy knoll all the time, just loaded and ready, because you know what? It’s for my country. It’s for my country. If I've got to sacrifice myself, it’s for my country.
For those unfamiliar, Titus actually had a show bearing his name on Fox at the beginning of the last decade that was even nominated for an Emmy.
Now he makes crass jokes about killing a woman if she's elected president, and the audience thinks it's funny.
Readers are reminded how often we were told by liberal media members in January that such violent rhetoric only comes from the Right.
That's because such talk when aimed at conservatives is exempt from their rules of decency.
What a crock.

It's gotten to the point that this is what I expect from the left. I am tired of people telling me that Bill Maher and Kathy Griffin are the fringe outliers. How many times do we have to watch a liberal do this before we get the message that they all think it's okay.

Now this is from a story published and featured on one of those extreme websites. BIG HOLLYWOOD, another far right leaning pile of garbage. Well I may be a little blind but what does he say about his party affiliation. Oh wait, I see it now. "I’m not Democrat or Republican"

Chrisie Titus is misinformed too. According to the Census Bureau, the US spent nearly 890 Billion on Education. No doubt Titus was just regurgitating the Dept of Education budget numbers, and leaving out State and Local spending.

Regardless of what side of the aisle you're on, how does this even pass for humor? Joking about killing someone, let alone assassinating the President of the United States?
Really? Is that the best line he can come up with? And the fact that people laughed at it? Is the bar for humor set so low in this country now? I have no problem with comedian's doing political jokes, but let's at least try to be funny. Unless of course, he's not joking...

Thank God I grew up in an era when I could see Jack Benny, Bob Hope, George Burns, Don Rickles, etc. and political humorists/comedians like Johnny Carson who knew how to make comedic jabs without being offensive.

I recently found my Bill Cosby LP albums from when I was a kid. They had me in stitches for hours, and I don't even recall a cuss word in any of his routines.

Red Jeep, you should check out Jim Gaffigan. His stuff is thematically similar to Louis CK (whom I also like quite a bit) but so squeaky clean you could play it in front of your grandmother without flinching. And he's contemporary, so you can hear comedic observations about, you know, stuff that's happened since 1965.
Aside from the despicable nature of Titus' joke, I don't understand in the least why it's even supposed to be funny. There's just nothing to it. And the audience laughed? Plus, that whole "my country, MY country" business just makes him sound like all of the malcontents who think that if the nation doesn't continue to conform to whatever norms they've become accustomed to, it must mean we're on the brink of ruin. So tiresome.

He's a failed comedian(because he doesn't have much of a following) who had a show real briefly on Fox called "Titus" (didn't last long at all, and this was during the time I did still watch Fox the TV station).
He's one of those that did dark humor but apparently that's not good enough. Being in the audience with his show would leave one feeling real uncomfortable.
I'm surprised he's still around, would have thought he would have killed himself by now.
