Tantaros on Schultz-Ingraham Affair: 'Hatred Towards Conservative Women is Last Acceptable Misogyny in U.S.'

By Noel Sheppard | May 28, 2011 | 16:35

Fox News contributor Andrea Tantaros might have had the best take on this week's Ed Schultz-Laura Ingraham affair.

Appearing on "Hannity" Thursday, Tantaros accurately said, "It is the last acceptable form of misogyny in this country - hatred, prejudice towards conservative females" (video follows with transcript and commentary):

SEAN HANNITY, HOST: All right. Let me ask both of you. Let me just go back to the issue of free speech. Ed Schultz, comments about Laura Ingraham, followed by a suspension, followed by an apology. My attitude is I believe in free speech. Did they handle this correctly?

KIMBERLY GUILFOYLE, FOX NEWS LEGAL ANALYST: I think they handled it correctly. And really, his conduct was inexcusable. I think his apology was somewhat sincere. But nevertheless, where do you go off like saying something like that about her? It's totally inappropriate.

HANNITY: What if I called any Democratic woman a slut?

ANDREA TANTAROS, FOX NEWS CONTRIBUTOR: Oh, forget about it. Look, Laura Ingraham is an attractive, conservative white female, blonde. They hate conservatives. Sean, it is the last acceptable form of misogyny in this country - hatred, prejudice towards conservative females. Look what happened to Don Imus? He was fired.

HANNITY: Bachmann and Palin continued.

TANTAROS: Yes, Sean, you would be fired too. I'm all for free speech. It is what I do. It lets me sit here but it means responsible speech.

GUILFOYLE: You should also be appropriate.

HANNITY: Part of my vernacular. You know, go through the alphabet, you know, you can, certain letters, certain words, you never say about a woman, to a woman, ever, ever, ever.

(CROSSTALK)

GUILFOYLE: OK. So, when you are looking at someone like Ed Schultz, there's a very big difference. So, this guy, I'm sure this is not the last that we hear from him in terms of this...

TANTAROS: You know, what, they embarrass themselves when they do this.

GUILFOYLE: Yes.

TANTAROS: The best traits I think that conservative women have, among all the others, but particularly a Sarah Palin and Laura Ingraham.

HANNITY: Smarter?

TANTAROS: No. They expose -- that's true but they expose, Sean, the worst side of liberals. They make them go crazy. And they expose what ugly, unfair and just hypocritical. Can I point out this morning on MSNBC, the special, how to empower women or some special about knowing your value. How ironic that Mika Brzezinski hosts a special this morning about knowing your value, huh?

HANNITY: All right.

TANTAROS: Hypocritical.

HANNITY: Guys good to see you both. I appreciate it.

TANTAROS: Yes. Good to see you, Sean.

Of course, Tantaros was correct.

What America has painfully learned since former Alaska governor Sarah Palin was first announced as John McCain's running mate in 2008 is that it is completely acceptable for media members to mercilessly attack a woman in print or on television and radio if she is a conservative.

In reality, not only is it condoned, it's applauded.

You can even win awards for doing so - just ask Katie Couric.

Sadder still is that the Left is constantly carping and whining about the scarcity of women in politics.

Maybe if they wouldn't attack every conservative female that deigns to enter public life there'd be more of them - or is that just too darned logical for a liberal?

Nicely said, Andrea. Brava!

One point, Noel,

the left only complains about the absence of liberal, untalented women in politics.  They fear conservative women, evidenced by their daily attacks, slurs and lies.

To re-elect Obama would be like the Titanic backing up and hitting the iceberg again.

Agree completely, Conservative voicing Women

Submitted by Less1leg on Sat, 05/28/2011 - 6:25pm.

When the gloves come off the liberals really set the standards a flutter. When a Conservative woman speaks the knives come out, and the viterol is flowing. Nothing more scornful than a Liberal slashing a Conservative woman with vengance short of Vlad the Impalor. Where's the Womens' Groups when vicous blowhards like MSNBC goes off on a woman, and paints her with the S%#t word. Like the old Hannah Barbara cartoons, Exit Stage Right Snagglepus!
Yes, our liberals have different sets of acceptability, or pardon the Great Annoited One Obama, civility. Yes, that wonderful word of liberalism, civility. But it only really does apply in one direction, and we all know that Conservatives aren't civil, and ultra liberal MSNBC talking heads are really civil. That's why he can call a female a S**t on national TV.

acceptable misogyny

Submitted by alvin on Sat, 05/28/2011 - 11:23pm.

Acceptable misogyny in this country - hatred, prejudice towards liberal females:
Levin:"Hillary Rotten Clinton, her thighness, is no better than Dumbo with the big ears"7/7/10
Quinn and Rose: Hillary - the bitch is back 8/27/08
Limbaugh: during a recent debate, "She (Hillary Clinton} was the only one sitting there who could not cross her legs." 7/9/07
Liddy: "If they stretch Nancy Pelosi's face anymore she can be used as a drum in the Marine Core Band" 4/30/10
Limbaugh:Limbaugh: "Michelle, My Butt" Is "Not Drawing Big Crowds And She's Not Happy About This 11/2/10
And so on. This is too easy. I can do it while watching Baseball Tonight.

Watching baseball and rattling off Liberal talking points...

Submitted by jawebster1 on Sun, 05/29/2011 - 4:01am.

from far left Liberal outfits such as 'Media Matters', 'Daily Kos' and 'MESSNBC'. Congratulations on your stenography skills. The difference is Conservatives do it with humor based on truth, Liberals do it with hate based on lies. The joke about Pelosi's face being stretched so tight it could be used as a drum in the Marine Corps Band is funny. Even if you are a Lib, you have got to laugh at that one. I like Rush's name for the new DNC chair, Debbie "Blabbermouth' Schultz'. It's called humor based on truth. (She blabbed her mouth about how unamerican it was to own a 'foreign' car and it turns out she owns several cars, all foreign!)

He isn't "rattling off Liberal talking points from far left Liberal outfits." He's rattling off talking points from prominent conservatives.

Um both of you libs may want to keep watching baseball

Submitted by gmaniac1 on Mon, 05/30/2011 - 8:45am.

First of all if you actually listened to Levin you would know that was a pun made from your lamestream media's criticism of Hillary when she was in Africa. The nets were picking on her about her weight after berating someone for asking her about her political success vis a vie Bill.

Secondly if you actually listen to Limbaugh you would know he's making a counter to her obsession with other's people but not her own. So the first lady can call people fat but no one can retort? I see.

Criticizing women is completely okay but condoning namecalling like this, which you libs are doing, is way out of hand.

But I guess morality means nothing to you anymore. Even if they did say worse things like your lefty heroes do that doesn't make it acceptable. The "everybody's doing it" excuse is for children. Then again need I say more.

"Acceptable"? It's Celebrated!

Submitted by Chris Norman on Sun, 05/29/2011 - 1:02am.

Not only is misogyny against conservative women still acceptable, it's encouraged, laughed at, repeated, and cheered on by many liberals. The unhinged liberals literally fight it out to come up with the nastiest characterizations of conservative women they can, trying to outdo each other with bilious and juvenile insults. Just when you think there are no more nasty words or phrases for them to employ against conservative women, they come up with words that are even more vile than a normal person could ever imagine in even their darkest thoughts.

Sheppard's notion that any

Submitted by classicliberal2 on Sun, 05/29/2011 - 9:07am.

Sheppard's notion that any criticism whatsoever of the views of conservative women amounts to "misogyny" is, to offer the kindest possible characterization, novel. I fear no one with more than a few functional brain-cells is going to find it particularly convincing.

In the real world, a prominent liberal throwing out an actual gender attack on women--real misogyny--is a man-bites-dog story. It almost inevitably causes a firestorm, because the liberals don't find it acceptable. While it's certainly refreshing to see conservatives suddenly become so remarkably concerned about such attacks--the Schultz thing has probably generated a dozen or more articles on this site alone--this concern, unfortunately, seems to be strictly limited to those relatively rare incidents wherein a liberal goes after a conservative woman. As "alvin" has already suggested above (and which I detailed at some length in the comments section of Sheppard's last piece on this subject), gender attacks on women are a regular feature of "conservative" radio and television, and fails to draw so much as a peep of protest from orgs like the MRC. The conservatives make rock-stars of those who regularly engage in this sort of thing.

I forget.

Submitted by The Vet on Sun, 05/29/2011 - 12:26pm.

Is this day 2 or day 3 of your whining about something Rush Limbaugh said? How is that working out for you anonymous moniker? You getting anyone worked up about it here? Anyone? Anyone at all? Yes. It is a real man bites dog story. (whoops, I missed the hyphenation)

The last year alone (From MRC) --

1. Playboy's Hate List

Playboy magazine writer Guy Cimbalo released his list of top ten conservative women against whom he'd like to commit violent sexual acts last June. Calling these acts a “hate f---” in his “So Right It's Wrong” article...

2. Rolling Stone's Matt Taibbi Uses Graphic Sexual Language to Discredit Michelle Malkin and the Tea Party Movement

Now when I read her stuff, I imagine her narrating her text, book-on-tape style, with a big, hairy, set of b---- in her mouth.

3. U.S News and World Report's Bonnie Erbe Takes Issue with Playboy List – Except for Inclusion of Michelle Malkin

Erbe continued, “I also want to note that at least one woman on the list is so venom-spewing, she unfortunately invites venom to be shot back at her...

4. Keith Olbermann Compares Michelle Malkin to a 'Mashed-Up Bag of Meat With Lipstick on it”

5. Comedian Chuck Nice Compares Sarah Palin to Herpes

6. Toronto Star Columnist Tweets a Death Wish for Michelle Malkin

7. Sarah Palin = Vice-President Barbie?

“[Barbie's] been an astronaut and a rock star. Pop icons Beyonce and Shakira. She's won 'American Idol' too,” he began. “Some would argue she also ran for vice-president in 2008,” quipped Wright, after showing various clips of Palin.

8. Rosie O'Donnell 'Humanized' Conservative Elisabeth Hasselbeck

Apparently to Rosie O'Donnell, conservative women are less than human.

“It's sort of what I thought about Elisabeth Hasselbeck, too. I'm going to love her, regardless of what she says, I'm gonna love her and the love, then, is going to win through in the end,” O'Donnell explained to her current colleagues. “I was positive of this, and we sort of started to humanize her.

9. David Letterman's “Top Ten” List of Sarah Palin Insults

Then he went further, with a crude joke about her 14-year-old daughter being impregnated at Yankee Stadium. Letterman eventually was forced to apologize for that joke...

10. Liz Cheney, Daddy's Little Girl?

There's a couple of gals who've been riding the wave of crazy that's been sweeping the nation's right-wingers: 'Shooter's little girl, Liz Cheney, has been hitting the lecture circuit, parroting daddy's fear-mongering rhetoric,” stated Schultz.

Too bad there is not a 10 ten list of your lies here.
