Tina Fey As Palin: 'We Finally Vanquished One of the World's Great Villains - Katie Couric'

NBC's Tina Fey guest-hosted "Saturday Night Live" last evening, and viewers could hardly be surprised her network took the opportunity to once again use her to bash former Alaska governor Sarah Palin.

In a mock Republican presidential candidates debate, before depicting Palin as an idiot that doesn't fully understand English, Fey did manage to take a humorous swipe at the soon to be exiting CBS "Evening News" host saying, "I want to acknowledge that this week we finally vanquished one of the world's great villains, and I for one am thrilled to say good riddance to Katie Couric" (video follows with partial transcript):

TINA FEY AS SARAH PALIN: Hi there. You know, it's just so great to be back on Fox News, a network that both pays me and shows me the questions ahead of time. And I just hope that tonight the lamestream media won't twist my words by repeating them verbatim. […]

FEY: Well, first, I want to acknowledge that this week we finally vanquished one of the world's great villains, and I for one am thrilled to say good riddance to Katie Couric. As for boning up on experience and policy, I'm planning a trip to the Middle East where I will be filming a cameo in "Hangover 3," the third hangover. The fellas go to a bar, and I'm there. I also recently purchased Rosetta Stone English. But the important thing for people to know is that I'm going to be running for president every four years for the rest of my life. It's my Olympics, and I intend to win a whole bunch of silvers.

Well, if you have limited talent, you don't have much choice but to continue the same old skit until the Pink Slip arrives. SNL has lost it's way. It has become a NYC socialist insider's joke site much like Mahler has become a West coast one.

Strange that she's supposedly tired of camping up Palin but can't wait to do a Palin skit when she gets another SNL hosting gig.

SNL has gone from spoofy satire to outright character assassination. There is no reason for her to go after Palin this week. Sarah Palin was not involved in the Fox GOP debate at all.

Character assassination is what the left does best. As do ten year olds. As in my subject line, can they not see that without them she'd have been off the radar months ago? She's too outside the Washington Elite/ Republican Machine for anyone else to make her truly relevent. By using her as a whipping mule, they are creating another National Hero a la Reagan. They've dropped the bar so low for Dear Sarah, if she was to get the nomination and smoke Obamalinsky's ass in a Presidential debate in front of 50 million viewers(and believe me, they laughingly ADMIT they'd like no better candidate) on a lefty network like NBC(Nothing But Communism) they're gonna wish they let up on her long before all of them, male and female malcontent alike, descended into their sexist, misogynistic, unfounded smearing. I hope she does become the President. Washington, like the Llama cage at the Zoo needs to be hosed out. And these freakin' Moonbats need to go home with their psychological tails between their legs for the next 50 years. About how long it will take to fix what President Soros, um, I mean Puppet, er excuse me President Obama has done........Like Porky Pig used to say, "Eebedee, Eebedee,Eededee,Eebedee.....THAT'S ALL FOLKS!!!!!!!!

The "dumb/crazy/racist conservative" schtick is getting old.

Submitted by Mike009 on Sun, 05/08/2011 - 9:36am.

Last Monday night was the first Tonight Show after Bin Laden was killed. Jay Leno opened with "Bin Laden is dead...Navy Seals did it...Sarah Palin was surprised to know seals could be trained to do something like that..." So even when the nation was celebrating the death of Bin Laden, Leno (the Left) used it as a way to attack Sarah Palin.

I grew up watching the Tonight Show (and SNL) but I don't anymore. I have better things to do than listen to a bunch of ignorant left wingers tell me how stupid conservatives are.

Let those who say Palin is stupid try to get themselves elected to their local school board, let alone governor of a state. And remember, Palin became governor of Alaska without any high-powered consultants or big money - long before any of us in the lower 48 every heard of her.

You can get a general idea of an audience's average IQ by the type of jokes that work (or don't). If you get a laugh out of the same old jokes over and over (Palin mocking, "teabagger", etc.), the audience must be pretty stupid. I wonder what the SNL demographic is these days. Do not underestimate the power of these propagandists operating under the guise of 'entertainment' to deceive the weak-minded.

The only funny part was the Couric line. However, I have a feeling that it was intended to be a slam on Palin because of how the interview made her look in the media. It's been a long time since SNL was funny. The combination of a lack of good actors and writers is apparent. When Will Ferrell is the last mediocre talent to come from the show, it goes to show how much it has degraded.

Seth Meyers is still the head writer and he would never have been a writer on the original SNL let alone an on screeen actor. His performance the other week in DC slamming Trump to his face was not only in bad taste it was not even humorous except for the left wing bashers.

Meyers better hope Trump runs for President and does not renew Celebrity Apprentice. Because is Trump starts negotiating on the renewal with NBC Do not be surprised if one of Trump's demands is Meyers' head.

It's Clear

Submitted by dpc1212 on Sun, 05/08/2011 - 11:56am.

It's clear the Left is still scared to death of Sarah Palin. But they have been effective in destroying any political future for her, in my opinion. The Obama administration has bumbled so many things, not the least being the Osama killing and its aftermath, a true non-political comedy show would have blistered Obama and his idiots in at least three skits. But oh no, we can't touch Obama. He's in too much trouble as it is. So let's remind the viewers (the few there are) how stupid the right is by skewering Sarah Palin. Huh?

That's what bothers me.......the Left attacks any republican or conservative as either insane or stupid and it gains traction and often minimizes or destroys the person politically. I think if the Conservative movement is going to continue to have an impact in our country, it has to make a big organized effort to become part of the media. We need to infiltrate every aspect of the left wing press.

I believe Sarah at best is a viable candidate but a long shot because of the mushy middle/independents.  However, she is still a viable and a very capable opposing voice with the ability to attack - that is why the media still attack her, in order to take the bite out of her attacks when she tries to shine light on the incompetence of the current administration.

Fiction for fiction

Submitted by jon_torlin on Sun, 05/08/2011 - 12:02pm.

I didn't see the (loosely termed) skit of Fey as Palin, but from the descriptions above and the comments, I see this as an act of desperation, especially since Government Electric owns Nothing But Crap which produces SNL (Saturday Nothing to Lose).

Just like last Sunday night, the chairman told us some fiction in his announcement, SNL is resorting to fiction for an event that didn't happen with Fey's portrayal.

I'm getting the feeling we're starting to see the house of cards starting to fall apart.

Tina Fey Returns to Her Sarah Palin Bimbo Impression on 'SNL'

Submitted by Red Jeep on Sun, 05/08/2011 - 5:01pm.

"The fact Fey decided to do Palin at all is of some interest. After the 2008 elections, Fey had vowed that she would never do Palin again. More recently, Fey suggested that her show "30 Rock" was losing viewers because her portrayal of Palin had angered many people...

"...The Palin as bimbo meme has increasingly become at variance with reality. Palin has won respect for weighty addresses on foreign policy and national security. Comedy is only funny if there is some truth to it.

"Fey and SNL might be more advised to alter their Palin humor a little. A great model would be a famous late 1980s depiction of then President Ronald Reagan, which showed him pretending to be an amiable dunce in public, but behind closed doors proved to be a cunning political genius, as we now know he was. A depiction of Palin along those lines would be at once funny and insightful."

"...But the question arises, why did Fey return to her Palin impression even though she didn't want to and opined that it was a career killer for her? Is it possible that some folks are now afraid of Palin and would very much like to take her down before she actually becomes a threat to take the presidency away from Barack Obama? You betcha. It sure does seem like it."

In August 2008 Fey was given the gift of instant fame for her ability to impersonate Sarah Palin, and it propelled her to instant fame: Justin Beiber kind of fame. Today's she's no more successful than she was in July 2008. As an actress, to have that level of name recognition and no ability to capitalize on it means you really aren't that great of an actress. Palin went from obscurity outside of Alaska to instant Beiber-like fame in 2008 and she's maintained it.

just a few of my descriptives to critique Tina Fey and what is "so very yesterday". The good news? Desperatly grasping for straws by holding onto Sarah Palin....Tina Fey is showing signs of a career decline. Gone to the well much too often...Tina Fey has managed to type-cast herself to the point where when people see her...they think of Sarah Palin...not Tina Fey....irony's a beotch....isn't it?

She has one of the funniest

Submitted by balboa on Mon, 05/09/2011 - 12:19pm.

She has one of the funniest shows on TV, her book is at the top of the bestseller list. That's not quite a career in decline.

And you can't really accuse her of being typecast as Palin impersonator when she hasn't really done it in a long time. And if she were really "holding on" to the Palin bit, she would have opened with it, it would have been much longer.

Leftists must not dictate our candidate.

Sarah, Many of us truly appreciate your honesty, integrity and values. Your leadership abilities are evident to me and reinforced by the fact that that the Democrats are wetting their collective pants in fear of your power. The idea that I will be called a fool for "falling for that conservative stuff" is of ABSOLUTELY NO CONSEQUENCE. You still have my vote based on all information I can gather, and reality. It's true, we were somewhat unaware of how far and deep the communist infiltration of American media has become, but ... so it is, now we are aware, we are active, we are the majority, and they are doomed. It will probably take years longer than we would like to root out this anti-American, self hating, cult of lies. But it looks like it is, and will continue to happen. If it becomes very clear that you cannot be elected, then I will throw my support behind another conservative for the cause. But leftists should not be allowed to destroy all of our best candidates based on traitorous lies and misinformation. If this becomes a fact, then we are in a very bad place which may only be remedied by war.

Go Figure

Submitted by rammingspeed on Mon, 05/09/2011 - 11:27am.

Tina Fey stated that her Sarah Palin impersonation in 2008 ended up hurting her, and her show 30 Rock. Internal checks by her "people" showed that a significant number of people stopped watching her show, and stopping viewing her other work. She said Alec Baldwin has been hurt as well, for being on 30 Rock.

She doesn't care. She mindlessly pushes her stupid leftie POV, in the face of the truth.

Go figure.

Got to love these repeated

Got to love these repeated insinuations that Fey's career is hanging on by the quickly-unraveling thread that is her Sarah Palin impersonation. It's not like she created and stars in one of the most successful and stylistically-groundbreaking TV shows of the last decade or anything...

I don't about the "stylistically-groundbreaking" of 30 Rock, but ratings wise, it's not doing so well,

It's not a ratings winner,

Submitted by balboa on Tue, 05/17/2011 - 5:51pm.

It's not a ratings winner, but it's a critical hit, plus Fey just got the Mark Twain award. Plus as I mentioned earlier she has a bestselling book. She's doing Just fine.

These days, a critical hit

Submitted by JasonC on Tue, 05/17/2011 - 6:10pm.

These days, a critical hit that brings in the revenue to make it to its 6th season can more or less be considered a ratings hit as well. It's no Seinfeld or Cheers or MASH or even the execrable 2.5 Men, but I think it qualifies as a successful show.
And not that we really need to get into it because it's not particularly relevant, but I WOULD argue that its style of storytelling is highly original and sophisticated and bound to be widely imitated. That, of course, is a matter of opinion.

I'd agree. They do a lot of

I'd agree. They do a lot of great stuff on there, and the live episode was fantastic. And 30 Rock has hit the 100 episode plateau which means big bucks in syndication.
