Ed Schultz: 'The Republican Party Stands For Racism'

By Noel Sheppard | April 27, 2011 | 00:17

A few hours after PBS's Tavis Smiley predicted on MSNBC that the upcoming presidential race will be the most racist in American history, Ed Schultz said the Republican Party stands for racism.

The host of the "Ed Show" also proclaimed, "I think Donald Trump is a racist" (video follows with transcript and commentary):

ED SCHULTZ: You mean to tell me that [Trump’s] questioning the academic prowess of one of the smartest presidents we’ve ever had? Mr. Trump, when you start getting your advice from all of the special, special Republican advisers that we’ve seen step to the plate in the past instead of Jerome Corsi. Dude, you could do better than that.

This is what the Republican Party stands for, though: racism. I think Donald Trump is a racist.

One of the smartest presidents we've ever had? Based upon what criteria?

Obama unlike most presidential candidates of late refused to release his college transcripts. So we don't know what grades he got.

His career as a junior senator from Illinois showed no particular political acumen whatsoever as he authored absolutely no significant pieces of legislation in that position.

In his current role, he's exploded the federal deficit and the national debt like no other White House resident since World War II while doubling the price of a gallon of gas and increasing unemployment. All of this has led 70 percent of the citizenry to believe the country is heading in the wrong direction.

As such, exactly what has he done in national office to demonstrate superior intellect?

Quite the contrary, based upon his job performance - which currently less than 46 percent of the nation approves of - Obama has been a failure his first 27 months in office.

As for challenging a president's intelligence, for eight years Americans were told George W. Bush was an idiot. Was that racist? If it wasn't, why is questioning the intellect of the current White House resident?

More to the point, how do Comcast and General Electric, the owners of MSNBC, feel about one of their commentators calling a large percentage of Americans racist?

Is this really a good business plan?

Chris, the business plan for MSNBC is as a loss leader for GE. With Obama's support they can't fail with the bucks the dems have pumped into the parent. Of course their nuclear reactors SUCK, but who's keeping track of that? Hell, they don't even make real light bulbs anymore!

Submitted by Bill Brasky on Wed, 04/27/2011 - 1:01am.

When are black leaders going to speak up and demand that yahoos like this fat f_ck Ed Schultz stop throwing around charges of racism as a political weapon? It is an insult to those that suffer(ed) real racism. MSNBC needs crack down on these fools they have as hosts. Cheap, unfounded charges of racism should not be tolerated by anyone. It is the lowest of the low. That's why we're seeing it on MSNBC I guess.

You guys fail to realize that there are just different views in this world. As Andrew Klavan once said, Conservatives believe we are all equal, no matter what the color of our skin is or what country we come from. Liberals, on the other hand, believe: you're a racist, you're a racist, na na na na na na na.

I really think he is making it up as he goes along. for some reason he must think that if he stands in front of a large screen with a graph on it, it makes him look smart. Of course, he has no idea what the graph is but tries to explain it and use it to prove his point.....assuming he has one.

Nothing but JAMMERS

Submitted by scottyusmc on Wed, 04/27/2011 - 7:46am.

We need to coin a phrase that represents what these media types are attempting to do in this debate. The liberal media is simply acting as a democratic jammer to the conservative signal. As with any electronic warfare technique, the object is to overpower the signal with "noise" to prevent the receiver from clearly hearing the signal being sent. The so called "progressive" movement and their media soldiers cannot afford to have its message debated on the merits so it must "jam" the signal of any rebutal or alternate thinkiing so that the receiver (the American people) will hear only the noise and not the message. Yelling racism over and over at the top of your lungs against any alternative idea is simply noise to hide the fact that they cannot win on the merits of the argument. Sad times are ahead for America and I can only hope that the dream is not lost forever.

I wish people would dump the whole birther issue and hammer Obama on his school records instead. If he's such a genius, then what is there to hide? I want to see his transcripts! I want to be bedazzled by more of his blinding brilliance!--what's racist about that?

If only it wouldn't shatter the sacred liberal meme that everyone on the Left is super-intelligent, while everyone on the Right is just plain stupid.

When you accuse someone of something horrible, it is usually a defensive psychological strategy called "projection," which is employed in order to protect yourself from becoming aware of something disagreeable about yourself. Arguably, the policies of the Democrat Party have always been devastating for African Americans. So of course they project their latent racism onto to others.

Color blind, I think not

Submitted by wingnut55 on Wed, 04/27/2011 - 12:49pm.

The left seems to be obsessed with race. I any party is racist, it's the Democrats. Who made up the Dixiecrats?? Who filibustered the civil rights bills in the senate?? What party put forth a Presidential candidate who supported slavery in the 1864 Presidential race?? The answer is the same for each question. Democrats. What party had a President who sent in troops to in force the integration of public schools in Ark, and Ala?? Which party had a greater percentage vote for the 1967 Civil Rights Act?? What party's President enacted the Emancipation Proclamation?? Again the answer is the same, Republicans. It seems that people attack their foes by calling them the names that they themselves are. I think "Sargent Schultz" is a great name for this guy, because he seems to "know nothing, know nothing".

Black Conservatives...

...but I have a problem with the broad brush.

If I were black, I'd be upset....if you'd said "self-sufficient blondes who get an education...." I'd be mad.

It just really bothers me to group any bunch of people together for whatever reason....color, hair color, eye color, ethnicity, etc.

I think the only way to "group" people together is by what's in their hearts. All the rest is just window dressing.

Submitted by ironhead4099 on Thu, 04/28/2011 - 1:38am.

This guys arrogance is only outdistanced by his stupidity! I tuned him in tonight because I needed a laugh, but it was really kinda sad! Him bemoaning the fact that "Republicans" won't let the birther issue die, when the only ones I hear talking about it are that clueless bunch on his network! How clueless, Chris Matthews proclaimed that this is "A GREAT DAY IN AMERICAN HISTORY" because Obama released his birth certificate today! More OBAMAGANDA from these sad excuses for reporters! I think they all need to go see the Wizard and singing "IF WE ONLY HAD A BRAIN!" The arguement that Republicans are racist, is the one you use when you can't justify your belief in what your saying!
