Time Magazine Headline: 'Wisconsin's Governor Wins But Is He Still Dead Man Walker?'
Remember all that fuss two months ago about violent rhetoric and imagery following the tragic Tucson shootings that almost killed Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords (D-Ariz.)?
Apparently the folks at Time magazine have forgotten, for on Saturday, they actually published an article with the following headline:
Wisconsin's Governor Wins But Is He Still Dead Man Walker?
The first paragraph wasn't any more delicate:
The state capitol of Wisconsin had taken on an eerie quiet on Friday. Gone were the throngs of protesters who occupied its marble floors like a campground in summer. The midnight honking of cars circling the white building had ceased. The chalk "dead man" outlines etched with Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker's name on the sidewalks remained in dismembered parts, incompletely washed away by clean-up hoses.
You hadn't heard about these chalk outlines?
Well, that's not surprising. As NewsBusters reported Sunday, most media outlets don't think death threats or violent imagery are a bad thing when Republicans are the target.
Unless there's some other reference I'm missing, the folks at Time were making a pun with Walker's name and the 1995 film "Dead Man Walking."
The article pointed out that he may end up suffering a recall in January or at the polls in 2014. Hence, he could be a dead man walking.
But in a post-Tucson world, especially given the death threats that have been issued against some of Walker's colleagues, is this appropriate?
Just imagine the outrage if Walker was a Democrat, and a conservative magazine like National Review or the Weekly Standard did the same thing.
There'd be calls for immediate apologies from the author and the editor as well as some folks asking for both to be suspended or fired.
But when a liberal publication two months after Tucson makes such a reference to a Republican?
Crickets.

I mean really, except that Liberalism is indeed a mental disorder.Liberals have no concept of hypocrisy, have no morals and therefore are not ashamed of anything they might do no matter how stupid.
Of course the MSM won't cover it

The MSM rationalizes it this way:
We know the game, even if the MSM insists it doesn't exist.
Perry bashing positive coverage in TX now
Submitted by MaximusBraveheart on Sun, 03/13/2011 - 4:41pm.
Someone may want to look into WFAA Ch 8 TV in Dallas TX coverage of "Save Texas Schools" rally and write a thread. They have been having one sided coverage of the "Education" boycott last week in Austin TX against Gov. Perry. No coverage of the conservative side. Only emotion and no facts as to what to do when you run out of money. A bunch of Perry bashing that appeared fully endorsed by WFAA and no mention of "civility."
It was REALLY bad coverage for Perry (going on all week!) and they had better get off their arse and counter this with some well laid plans and information. The unions and media are lighting the fields on fire and there has been no counter activity visible.
Watch this video please. When I complained, my wife thought it was fair because they were reporting on the rally. I find it hard to believe there were not counter protesters/Tea Party that they COULD have interviewed also. Was anyone in Austin? Pulling out hair here! http://www.wfaa.com/news/local/North-Texas-teachers-head-to-Austin-rally...

Submitted by krendler on Sun, 03/13/2011 - 7:28pm.
The whole notion that "lack of civility" was to blame for Tucson was preposterous to begin with and was simply forwarded by the national media as a way to blame conservatives for the shooting. The gunman was a psychopath. You could have just as easily blamed the John Lennon or Reagan shootings on "lack of civility." And, of course, you're not going to hear a peep from the partisan pretend journalists about "civility" when the guy on the receiving end is a conservative. Oh, no. This anger is justified. Hey, Barry Obama: Why aren't you in WI making speeches to bring us all together and restore "civility", since it's clearly lacking there? Not the meme you and your cronies want?I'll Say It Again...

I'll say it again for the benefit of the intellectual crowd. When you point the finger at someone, you have three pointing back at you. All this attempt to paint the conservatives and tea party people as violence prone was nothing more than an attempt to cover their own sins. The left has had a history of violence and uncivil behavior going back to the nineteenth century. At least back there they had some reason to be uncivil but not now."Old Soldiers never die, they just fade away"!
I live in WI and have not even heard of THIS!!

God our media sucks!! I am sure I will learn more tomorrow on local talk radio, because they are the only ones who talk about this stuff. McKenna and Belling are my favorite! They have podcasts (not techy don't know what that means) but if you do, please listen! These 2 are talented and rockstars of radio to me. Governor Walker has received MANY death threats, you will just not hear of them reported. I don't know if it is because the media here isn't reporting it or because he is pretty classy and isn't saying too much. His neighborhood has to be blocked off I believe, because they don't just mess with him at the capital. LOTS of these nice folks go directly to his home and to the homes of the Republicans and threaten the lives of them AND their families. When the Giffords shooting happened they blamed Rush, Sarah, Glen, etc. If anyone gets hurt here I look to President Obama! I want him to leave my Governor alone!! That also applies to all Dems and especially MSNBC whom Ann Coulter so artfully stated that "They (MSNBC) are covering Wisconsin like 911 over there!" 24/7. She's great. Where are you O? Do you think that precious little nine year old girl from AZ would be proud of what has become of this state I live in? Here's hoping the President is voted out in 2012 so he can put on those comfy shoes and walk around Madison all day! Well, maybe the first part.Living in WI and it is hell, lord help us

Someone asked where are the WI taxpayers? Well, we are here and we are embarrassed, sad and scared. The print media, even in the city I live, (not Madison which is LIB-VILLE!!) is like the NY Times, and local television news is like MSNBC minus annoying, psycho talkers and the shouting. Conservative radio is our only voice!!! And I believe many in the state don't even have access to the great radio personalities we have. Who are all over this, by the way. I recommend websites for Vicki McKenna,Mark Belling,Charlie Sykes,Jay Weber, etc. Wonderful talent!!! However, if you did not listen to talk-radio you would only being seeing ONE SIDE. ALWAYS! We are screwed. So the public is only seeing and hearing from the screamers and crybabies in our capital city.( teachers, unions, out-of-towners, thugs,etc.). Then there is the Dem mayor of Madison who has been proven to be encouraging the behavior you have all witnessed. Add to him the Police Chief in the city of Madison who told his officers to stand down regarding protestors and not protect our Capital building. Who do you look to for help when police are involved? Oh, police were also protesting as were firemen (in uniform!) which is disgusting. OK...then you have Senate Democrats FLEEING the state and being heralded in the media I described above as HEROES!!! And I am CERTAIN MSNBC will be showing the protest and celebration held Saturday of these Fleebaggers welcome home party 24/7 daily. Jesse will be on every TV set he can find. He attended. Enjoy that! Wait til you see the cute new signs they have of the shape of our state with the number 14 on it. They're grrrrrreat. Death threats in writing were given to all of our Republican Senators and their families! Death threats to our Governor and his family! The Wisconsin Professional Police Assoc. along with many other groups including Firemen, Educators, Police, unions, etc. have written threats to our state's largest bank and other businesses threatening them very explicitly and signing them BY NAME and ASSOCIATION TITLES! Businesses, their owners, and anyone else who disagrees with these thugs or supported Gov. Walker or who refuse to denounce what Gov. Walker has done are BEING THREATENED with boycotts and VIOLENCE! Restaurants who even SERVE republicans are being threatened. Who do you call when it is the POLICE who are threatening or intimidating you? We have teachers who are actually talking about this stuff in schools to our children. Stories of 10 year olds who point to a Walker sign or bumper sticker and say "Walker, he's bad!" Planned walkouts being ENCOURAGED by unions or maybe threatened to attend by unions of teachers. Student planned walk-outs, protests. Not just in Madison at the college, here in the city I live! High School. It's disgusting! Hundred plus state unions RUSHED to extend contracts prior to this bills signing so they are not affected! Shady stuff! One last screw job to the taxpayer. That is another reason the fleebaggers stayed away for so long, so these contracts could be snuck in! Now O will be sending all the goons Glen Beck talks about on his show every day to my state from now until gosh knows when to recall Republican Senators and our Governor Walker. For doing their jobs!!! So much for elections having consequences. So much for free and fair elections our President talks about. Its ok to leave the people of Egypt to choose their leaders, but evidently not ok for WI residents. Then there is the absolutely disgusting trashing of the most beautiful capital building. Truly a gorgeous place. Now smells of pee, pot and patulee. I have no idea why they let anyone in there. These creeps were screaming, blocking entrance for voting, sleeping on floors in sleeping bags, legislators had to hide in their offices with their doors locked and be police escorted everywhere. They TOOK THAT PLACE OVER! I blame the city of Madison and the police. The cost of additional police needed to cover Madison at the expense and risk to other cities. I could go on and on and on. And, unfortunately, this appears to have just begun. When does it end? These are NOT peaceful protests do not believe MSM. It is hell. Someone is going to get hurt. Where is our President now? WI could certainly use a CIVILITY speech. Oh.... that's right. He was busy this week talking about anti-bullying at a school with Michelle and golfed 18 rounds on Saturday! He and all of the dems have poured fire on what is a VERY scary situation for all. In the words of those stupid axx protesters "SHAME SHAME SHAME!" Support Scott Walker and the republicans for the courage to stand up to what has been INTIMIDATION and ASSAULT! And the workers rights are being assaulted? STFU Mr. President. That is where we are. The first thing an army does when invading a country is to take control of the communications. The MSM has done that on behalf of the leftists and union thugs in Wisconsin. They know they can't be touched. Nor will their information be seriously challenged. They are indeed the enemy within. Good little soldiers for the communists.

Exactly right thisnThat. That IS WHY they want our guns (or at least registered as a "compromise"). We would then no longer be a threat (ie have any power). They are patient in their plan and have public school children scared to even see or touch a gun. "Their bad." Obama sprung his trap a little too early and now we are seeing the real O. The Country has woken to a large extent. There are more conservatives than Socialists and we need to do some converting. That means educating. We need school vouchers so they can no longer brain wash kids with liberal values. We need to complain to the media more about being fair because we sure are getting hammered by it.-- Maximusbraveheart -- Is TRUTH knowable? Moral Relativism is the abandonment of Truth. I read your indepth "reports" twice ... your comments really helped flesh out the utter ridiculousness, immaturity, and destructive thuggery of the protesters. Kudos to Gov. Walker for standing up to them! Other governors should follow his example. The 14 Fleebaggers are the one who should be shamed and recalled ASAP.Thank you Orlando Linda

I actually read the whole TIME magazine article and was completely disgusted. If I hear peaceful, non-violent protests one more time. The author's name said Madison under it. If she lives in Madison, she is clueless. It is not being reported except by local talk radio here, but Governor Scott Walker and his family are receiving NUMEROUS, significant death threats. This magazine should be PUBLICLY SHAMED. However, only NB readers will know of it. Also, someone mentioned MSNBC ripping him in the morning. If that is Joe and that dipstick, arrogant Mika that makes me so mad. I used to watch that show but can no longer stand to. They are so mean and high on themselves. Also, there was an arrest of a woman in Madison regarding the death threat letters our Republican Senators received. That is all they are saying. No name, info, anything. Wonder if anyone will report on that. "crickets?"Nothing to see here....move along

Noel, Noel, Noel, for as many years as you've been part of the Media Research Center and Newsbusters, haven't you figured leftists out? When they call for "civility", it means that the right needs to use politically correct speech, while they will use obscenity, profanity and threats. When they call for "free speech", it means that the right has no right to disagree with them. When they call for "compromise", they mean for the right to give the left everything they want. When they call for "bipartisanship", they mean for the right to bend over, grease up, and take it where the sun don't shine.Repeat It

Again, it is not like the republicans and or conservatives do not get a chance to speak their mind on these leftie msm talk shows. They never open their mouths and point out bias in the interviewers questions. Mitch Daniels who newsbusters whined about today because mean old chuck todd asked bias questions about unemployment. I watched the interview, and Daniels sat there like a bump on a log and took it up the behind. Sure he explained why unemployment was high, but that is not the point. He should have called out Chuckie on his bs bias questioniing. He should have asked Chuck Todd why NBC did not cover the death threats of the republcan senators. Time and again, I watch as republicans go on shows like MSNBC, NBC, ABC, CBS and act as if those people are friends just asking fair questions. Never do they call out the interviewer on bias reporting. Stop being polite to these people, they are making you look like fools.Amen

You are exactly right. I,too, get sick and tired of the left framing every single issue and argument. The agenda should be that, every time a conservative appears on an interview show, they bring up what THEY want to get across and don't just answer questions, most of which are based on fallacious assumptions in the first place. (P.S. Don't forget "ed" on the end of"bias." when it's an adjective.)Time Magazine?

Would this be the very same Time Magazine that made Adolph Hitler their Man of the Year in 1938? Was it because they admired him as a person, or admired the way he worked with the unions? By abolishing them? Or, could it be they admired the way he had handled his opponents? Their choices, for the most part, make them as irrlevant as the NY Slimes, and the anti-American a$$hats they employ.Well, their explanation was,
