Rush Limbaugh Advises Fox To Ignore Keith 'Olberdork' Now That He's Partnered With Gore

By Noel Sheppard | February 08, 2011 | 20:08

Noel Sheppard's picture

Conservative talk radio host Rush Limbaugh on Tuesday gave some advice to Fox News about how to treat Keith Olbermann now that he's partnered with Al Gore's struggling cable network.

"Do not ever talk about what goes on over there and nobody will ever hear about it" (video follows with transcript and commentary):

RUSH LIMBAUGH: By the way, Keith Olberdork who left MSNBC is going to Algore's cable channel, Current TV, where -- (interruption) Yeah, it's still on, and I just have one piece of advice for the people at Fox. Do not ever talk about what goes on over there and nobody will ever hear about it. Olbermann wouldn't be anything today if they hadn't decided to start picking fights with those people over there. That network wouldn't have half the audience as it does now. Anyway, the Chinese opera format was not working at Current TV, the global warming stuff just hadn't caught hold so now they're all-in with Olberdork as the political director and primetime talent at Algore's cable channel. Trust me, ladies and gentlemen, as a highly trained broadcast specialist, this is a move that under normal circumstances you wouldn't publicize and you would frankly hope nobody ever heard about. But the word's out. ...

Indeed.

Many analysts believe that Olbermann's decision to attack Bill O'Reilly worked for it antagonized the Fox star enough for him to return fire thereby drawing attention to the "Countdown" host and drive ratings.

MSNBC viewers may have noticed that since Olbermann's departure, his former colleagues have been paying a great deal of attention to Glenn Beck, in particular Chris Matthews whose "Hardball" program initially airs at 5PM opposite the current object of his disaffection.

Including Tuesday's program, Matthews has attacked Beck for seven straight days.

With this in mind, maybe it's best for all conservatives to heed Limbaugh's advice and let Olbermann fade away as quickly as possible, for without our negative reviews, he mightn't get any press at all.

Something to consider.

Unless he develops a following at least as large as MSNBC, he should be allowed to enjoy the anonymity the Gore Channel affords him.

As a Directv subscriber I had it on my system. My hand to God, when I got Directv a few years ago I had no idea that it was the AlGore channel. We kept it on our station list and would turn to it every once and a while. The shows were so awful we took it off our channel guide.

Lame photo you used for Rush!

Submitted by neutron on Tue, 02/08/2011 - 9:33pm.

Come on! In the side-by-side of Rush and Keef, did you have to use one of the least flattering pictures from his fat-stage? He looks nothing like that now! What? Do you have a closet liberal trying to show Rush in a bad light, using a picture from a decade ago to make him look bad next to Keef?

That's one strike. You have two left before I lose respect for your journalism.

Oh, and nice picture of Keef

Submitted by neutron on Tue, 02/08/2011 - 9:44pm.

What makes it worse is the facing photo of Keef is one of the best he ever took. TTo be half-fair to Rush, you should have used one of Keef in mid-snarl, mouth open, etc.

Is NewsBusters going to give fair and balanced treatment of the conservative and liberal sides in future juxtaposed pictures like you did in this set? If so, be sure to select your photos from DailyKos like you must have done here. The results will at least be consistent.

Thank you for fixing the pictures!

Glad I checked back, or my two comments would have looked stupid with these two new pictures. I also like that you put Rush on the right and Keef on the left this time, which is fitting for their perspectives.

If you made a note that you changed the pictures, I missed it. Usually when a blog post is changed, there is an "updated" to explain the changes. If it's there, I'm sorry I didn't catch it.

Again, thank you for replacing both pictures with ones more fitting of the status of Keef and Rush.

There's a saying that used to be used all the time on Rush's radio show back in the early days. "Rush is Right" Still as true today as it ever was. Now he has a new little saying that is also true and conservative media should take to heart "Don't doubt me".  Again he's correct. He's the Nostradomas of liberal think. In other words his predictions on what liberals will do and say in any given situation are phenominally accurate and approach uncanny. All the folks at FNC need do is follow this sage advice that comes directly from "The Atilla the Hun chair" by way of the golden EIB microphone, and Olberman will fade away into obscurity.

I see you're still having problems with the English language.  See? I am using the word you're in the correct context so don't get your (there I go again using the proper verbiage) panties all twisted.

Sadly your (once more being used in its proper form) analysis of truckinmanns comment fall short once more.  Considering your (again used correctly) lame attempts at put downs have failed consistently you may want to consider giving it all up and return to staring at your (need I remind you again?) navel whilst contemplating life under the bridge you occupy.

Might I suggest a bridge somwhere in Piscataway?

Submitted by Scuba Dude on Wed, 02/09/2011 - 4:50pm.

First, I never said anything about "24/7 megadittos".  Your sentence should read "When someone says".

Secondly, you are correct about liberal supporters (if that is what you mean by "follow 100% liberal") being drones.  Though I would say most of us here at NB call them other things.  Delusional comes to mind.  :-)  They tend to spew or spout the latest liberal talking point and when shown how contradictory or illogical that point is they will resort to talking over, yelling or name calling instead of making a counter argument.

And the people on the right (if that is what you mean by folks who say 24/7 megadittos) would be considered a patriot.

See the people on the right tend to love their country and do not want to see their freedoms slowly chipped away by the programs and laws the left tends to pass and/or support.  We are the ones who celebrate the success of another and embrace the can do spirit of people who do not let obstacles or other things prevent them from bettering themselves.
