Headline: "Gabrielle Giffords' Blood Is On Sarah Palin's Hands"
As media members fall over themselves railing against conservatives for Saturday's tragedy in Tucson, they seem to be becoming more unhinged with their accusations.
Consider the following headline published by the New York Daily News:

Then:
![]()
Sarah Palin should've known what she was doing when she put a target on Rep. Gabrielle Giffords (below). Palin might as well have said, 'Fire!'
Once inside the article:
Here is what Sarah Palin said on the Facebook page where she depicted Gabrielle Giffords in the cross hairs of a rifle scope: "Don't retreat! Instead - RELOAD!"
Well, the guy who shot Giffords yesterday managed to keep firing until he killed six, including a child, and wounded 13 . [...]
And, now that Palin may have the blood of more than some poor caribou on her hands, I wonder if she will continue putting people in cross hairs and calling on folks to RELOAD!
Isn't there a saying about people in glass houses?

There has been a target on my back for 2 yrs now. As a tea party member, I take it personal when I am called racist, ill informed, ignorant, tea bagging , violent, wing nut. But I suppose to the lying media that kind of rhetoric is acceptable since it is part of their tactics in order to further their agenda. This is a sad day when the enemy is ordinary patriotic hard working Faithful Americans.
Today is indeed a sad and tragic day. It is the day of the death of Journalism.

This is the kind of thing I was worried about, the LSM's attempt to rile up the lefty wackos out there. It's called "fomenting violence." If they don't stop this nonsense(even senators are saying lay off the rhetoric), there's going to be some major problems.
Absolutely utterly ridiculous.

I have been predicting this behavior wouldn't end well ---on these pages and elsewhere---- ever since the jaw-dropping riots at the St Paul RNC, which was then followed by more confrontations of public officials (Palin, Emmer, Coulter) at public events. St Paul even ended with McCain being rudely interrupted at his OWN acceptance speech in St Paul. Sadly, way way way too many defend the "right to protest" of these lunatics, just like people did merely a generation ago when rioting/violence was common, even chic. Let's see--that ended with one Prez being shot at, in 1975, and another Prez nearly killed by a bullet in 1981. America survived the Presidential assaults last generation, and will survive this, but public figures should be allowed to meet their fans or supporters without fear. The Az case is horrible for the poor Congresswoman, but also all the collateral victims who merely went to have some socializing with friends. Our family actually DID leave palin's MOA appearance after the loon was arrested, because of the fear of what might happen next....nothing did, but yesterday reinforced the fact that nutjobs are our there! The very very angry rhetoric began again after Bush v Gore, and really hit a peak in the streets of St Paul, 2008.Where were you during the 90's?

Bob Grant was calling for Hillary Clinton to be "put down". Kim "the Great American"Peterson was lamenting that firing squads weren't available to take care of the traitor Clinton--he laughed uproariously when a caller suggested commandeering a C-131 gunship, flying over the White House and putting an incendiary shell up "that boy's ass"; Militia groups exploded and Tim McVeigh seriously considered assassinating Janet Reno; gun targets were available with Bill Clinton's head in the bulls-eye. G. Gordon Liddy was regaling his callers with the details of executing "head shots".on government officials. I think you get the picture.

What does McVeigh's religion or lack thereof have to do with anything? He was a right-wing gun nut and rabid Clinton and Reno hater

Grant has apparently longed for the deaths of the Clintons generally, but I haven't been able to locate the "put down" comment, although a Phoenix talk show host, Bob Mohan, called for Sarah Brady to be "put down" by a veterinarian.
Grant has called for evironmentalists to be lined up against a wall and shot, and for Gay Pride marchers to be machine gunned by the police, and once suggested a caller get a gun and do something about his displeasure with the federal government. He was terminated after making an intemperate remark regarding the tragic death of Ron Brown.

Exactly Jer, how does the left link "angry rhetoric" from their favorite enemies to a "bullet in the head". If there is a correlation should not Clinton, Pelosi, Obama, and others already have been the targets of assassination? Why would someone so inflamed by the speech on one side go after a virtually unknown Congresswoman? Someone really enraged by 'angry rhetoric" would be likely to go after those people who are the most prominent subject of such discussions, wouldn't you think? After all, Chapman went after Lennon himself, not his rythym guitarist.

It would seem to me that by their own standards, every case of an American citizen killed by an illegal alien ( of which there is no shortage of stories) can then be placed fully on the shoulders of Pres. Obama, not only for continuing failed policy but by fomenting the racial aspect of "fighting our enemies" and preventing States from enforcing laws that he said had the potential for "racial discrimination". This would then make BO guilty of murder and a cause for his removal of office.
The left better start walking this story-line back because I don't believe they understand the concept of unintended consequences and the idea that 'two can play at this game'.
'[T]wo can play at this game,' but not equally.

I believe the press has less and less influence these days than it used to. What we've seen, the past few days, is the rhetoric of the left overwhelming the media. There hasn't been much common sense out there, that's for sure. However, I honestly believe that the majority of people, who don't view this through a partisan lens, will agree this guy was just deranged.
That being said, we just won an election without the support of the press. There was no MSM outlet comdemning the Democrats running Congress and the way they rammed through their legislation. There has been no MSM outlet that has presented the facts of the Health Care Bill and pointed out its numerous flaws, yet it's in the negative.
I believe the LSM is losing it's power and the way they've presented this is exactly why. No one trusts them any more.
I wondered the same thing.

If you can lay the blame for Giffords' shooting at the feet of Sarah Palin simply for her "heated rhetoric", then clearly President Obama has to take the blame for the increase in violence along the border with Mexico. If Mexican illegals have been prodded to "punish their enemies" by the POTUS, and have clearly done so, then he is guilty of much more than heated rhetoric. This makes him a party to murder.

I realize I'm probably casting pearls at swine here, but you know one of the many things the left doesn't seem to understand? For example, they believe that if Rush, or Palin, or whoever, talk about Nasty Pelosi than that's what gets people hating Pelosi. When the fact is, it's the words and deeds of Nasty Pelosi, herself, that cause the anger. We have these devices like computers now, full of information, so if I want to find out what an idiot scumbag like Pelosi is up to, I don't have to wait for Rush Limbaugh to tell me. So maybe the lefts real problem is with the dissemination of information, period. Perhaps, now this is just a theory, if someone, like Pelosi for example, behaved more like a Statesman concerned with the will and freedom of the people and less like a thieving, lying, condescending little tyrant unconcerned with the people, then maybe there would be a lot less anger and frustration amongst the people. Just a thought.
